Spent two days camped here and checking out the high mountain ridges behind me from this shot; I'm standing at about 6000 ft elevation; ridges were about 7500 ft. More snow higher up...approx. 5". Not another soul seen in the valley other than wildlife. Just what I needed.

L’espoir fait vivre,
proclame, résignée,
la routine publique :
ce bel espoir serait
l’absolu placebo
de gloire immémoriale ;
mais un espoir masqué
d’épaisse indifférence
dans la sanglante besogne
du monde à la dérive…
Espoir en Dieu ?
Mais si Dieu siégeait
dans la vaine attente
de l’homme …
----------------------
Die Hoffnung hält am Leben,
verkündet mit Resignation
die öffentliche Routine:
diese schöne Hoffnung wäre
das absolute Placebo
unvordenklichen Ruhms;
aber eine Hoffnung, maskiert
mit dichter Gleichgültigkeit
in der blutigen Plackerei
der Welt in der Abtrift…
Hoffnung auf Gott?
Aber wenn Gott
in der vergeblichen Erwartung
des Menschen beruhte…

I love this photo of my three children Philip, Katja and Bastian ... so seldom that all three can be together.
One son is in Germany, my daughter in Colorado and my second son still in Canada.

Human emotion is its own subject played out across the landscape of the face. Everything we humans can express is contained within this landscape.
A boy finally gets a huge lump of cotton-candy (candy-floth) and is laughing out loud. He is absolutelly happy. His dream has finally come true. The moment of ultimate, purfect, sheer happiness. Candid photo.

Abellio's dirt cheap bids have landed them a large amount of work over the last few years. Today's service change on route 159 is by far the worst crime committed - I'm personally not too happy about it. Arriva will be missed on this iconic South London route.

It could easily pass as the mid-1980s in this scene, but I actually took it on 25.10.21 and edited it to make it look more... yellow. The well-turned-out Mk1 Golf GX obviously helps, but the brick built flats complete with mini-gardens and wooden fences look untouched from when they were new (60s/70s I guess?), aside from the various wires trailing around the walls that are probably later additions.
The windows are probably not original either, but since they all match the buildings retain the uniform look they will have had since construction... even the vase somebody has put in the window contributes to the bygone look! The only thing really letting the view down is everyone's nemesis; the plasticky LED street light fixture that (as I like to bang on about) is nowhere near as good as its sodium predecessor. At least the concrete post remains, although I imagine the sleeved top section was a later addition.
(Just another day of previous photoshoot, I tryed another time for take longer exposures. For this shot I wanted to guide with the light of dawn on the boats)
Magical sunrise in this beautiful place that is the Albufera of Valencia.
The image title is because during the photoshoot, surrounded by all this beauty, calm water, boat, reeds, mud, tranquility, flying birds ... every moment reminded me a lot to the great novel "Cañas y Barro" of the great Valencian writer Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, set in rural Valencia (Albufera) of the early twentieth century, the novel observes and portrays the social reality of the time and place with absolute precision.
On the technical side, say that I only used a ND soft gradient three steps filter combined with one four steps ND filter.
I hope you like it. Have a nice Wednesday. :)

one of my favorite pictures from the night Istanbul that i came across. if all of the hustle and bustle can be illuminated in one frame, it should be this one. This is the life here. ----------------------- Photo taken from the Mado restaurant window in İstiklal Avenue. the dessert there was so perfect, missing it so much.

There are very few things in life that can bring you a feeling of freedom comparable to the one of being at a nude beach, go in the water and feel the sea bathing your entire body, no constrictions from the artifice of our clothing, swim free and at large... and then, return to your towel to lay down under the rays of sun... to feel every single pore of your skin getting its love, and drying out faster than you ever did after a swim....
Oh, how I wish it was easier...
But not here... not in NY, for more reasons than one...
That's why when in Spain, I can't miss the date with that feeling of freedom, wherever it may be waiting...

I wish 'These Were Our Dogs' wasn't already out of print because the reproduction of the images is excellent. I am only 'allowed' to upload these at very low resolution in order to prevent the images being used without the publisher's and my permission. ... Sharing the photographs has always been what I care about most and it’s lovely to be able to do that on Flickr, even if only at this very low resolution.

Who knew that a picture of tomato soup would be so difficult?
This is by no means a perfect image, but I wanted to upload it for today’s photo because I am trying a lot of new things and want to have a way to track my progress.
The biggest issue I had with today’s photo was that my computer couldn’t handle the number of images I was using to merge one large-format picture together. I’m realizing over and over again how important a strong fast computer is, and that I should have invested more into my macbook when I first purchased it.
Everything can go wrong. Today abided by this sentiment very much. After hearing quite a lot of bad news, floundering to get anything done, and for all plans to fall through, today was a struggle to even get my meals in order. This was my first meal, somewhere around 3 today, and it consisted of a warmed up bowl of tomato soup. Yes, lives can seem well put together all around us, but look inside the bedrooms, the refrigerators and the bowls of soup and you will see an absolute mess. We love the mess, though. Things rarely ever go according to plan, and can fall apart quite easily. But with whatever is scattered around, it’s best to gather what we can and create the most beautiful thing we can. It’s life, anyway.
