You'd be amazed at the amount of activity pumped thru Pullman Jct even nowadays. Sure the names and destinations have diminished in quantity over the decades, but this location remains quite the impressive chokepoint within Chicagoland.
BH45 approaches the bird, bound for Clearing...I assume. The unknown stack transfer with the pink ONE container will be next to get clearance thru the junction. CP is sending a 680 sand train bound for Calumet Yard down the Belt as this photo is being made. CSX also has one west and one east for and to Clearing Yard via Pine Jct and the Water Level Route.
Of course this means my target - the CP heritage guy on G52 in the background - is going to wait til the absolute possible moment to get permission from NS' Calumet Yardmaster. They'll pull in with about 20 minutes left to work.
This is little baby Golden !! One of our four new-born Springtime babies!! Three weeks old! He has a twin-brother , Honey, and two sisters, Melody and Harmony! Absolute Springtime tenderness!
Lovely Mama Josephine, herself a kitten-Lady of 8 months, ...got married to our lovely Moraki boy-cat!! Liza had not operated , yet , neither of them!! And here are the adorable , fluffy results! Springtime adorable new-comers!!
So!! My Alexandra is going to adopt the 2 of them, and I am suddenly found with a cat-family of ...5!! Well, nothing so strange... I had moved from Greece to Belgium with ...6 senior cats 15 years ago...
This shot was made just at sunset but with the cloud cover you wouldn't tell. But the thing was that there was no wind and absolute silence. No puff of breeze...nothing.
A totally un-real experience to stand atop one mountain looking at another at dusk on ANZAC friday evening. Should have left a poppy behind. Then it was about 10kms hike back down to the carpark in the dark with head torches.
This is from Mount Tongariro looking across South Crater towards Ngauruhoe or to LOTR fans - Mount Doom. This is also part of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing with a side diversion. Part of the trail runs across South Crater below...if anyone was there they would be about the size of a ant. Bit hard to put anything in for a sense of scale...
If you zoom in [ mouse click on the image ] you will just see the line of the trail across the crater at the other end from left to right ... and anyone would still look like a ant.

A dry night and an early tea meant I had an hour or so to walk down to the far end of the neighbourhood woodland. I noticed last summer that the council was building a nature walk with level access for all abilities. I couldn't resist using the Back Light Scanner and after looking at the orange glow from the local streetlights I tried to contrast the colour with a light teal gel in the scanner.

A westbound NS rocket flies west into Stryker as the sun touches the horizon on a warm summer evening.
The actual size of Milopotamos lake is no more than 20.000 square meters (it sounds more than it actually is). It is located at a rather waterless broader area of Drama's prefecture, managing to create a very small "oasis" like environment around it !!!
The emphasis on the above seen frame though is placed on the synthesis' attributes !!! I could easily turn the image upside down and have a pretty much visually similar outcome !!! There is almost a perfect symmetry everywhere !!! The atmosphere on that amazing last October's photographic afternoon was rather dim, with a yellowish hue all around !!! Subtle HDR processing helped the capture keep this chromatic balance all around !!!
EXIF: NIKON D90 with Tamron 70-300 mm lens, Aperture mode, f 8, ISO 200, focal length 70 mm, manual exposure selection, white balance set to cloudy weather, center weighted average metering mode, shutter speed 1/30 s, HDR processing was made out of only one RAW capture, exact lighting conditions are successfully conveyed to the viewer, use of tripod, no flash, original RAW image dimensions 4288 X 2848 pixels ....

I had the absolute pleasure today to spend the afternoon with my friend David who is definitely my birding mentor. The times I spent a few years back when he used to spend more time at Woodlands Historic Park, built my love for birding and I have learnt a great deal from him. Today we went for a lovely walk through his new turf along the Werribee River, and he didn't disappoint me finding the beautiful Eastern Osprey he calls Eloise. She is beautiful to say the least.
Back friom an stunning trip to Chile and Bolivia. So many images that I don't know where to begin. Starting with something simple.
Nick-named, the Marilyn Monroe Towers. Absolutely World is a residential condominium twin tower skyscraper complex in the five tower Absolute City Centre development in Mississauga, Ontario. The project is being built by Fernbrook Homes and Cityzen Development Group.
