Today’s world is a need-it-right-now world. Emails, text messages, and smartphones have made us much more accessible and our level of accountability much higher. The expectations for immediate attention are overwhelming and can negatively impact our creativity and patience; learning to master this difficult skill can increase creativity as well as reduce stress and anxiety. Exercising patience can also improve productivity because it creates a better, clearer state of mind, for wiser decision making.
Patience is becoming a lost art. We sometimes feel others becoming more impatient with us if we are not quick to answer or respond right away, combining immediacy and impatience to create an even bigger monster. However, most things worth having, take time to obtain – they take patience. Art cannot be rushed and patience cannot be lost if the picture is to be finished.
After a treacherous hike along the Hooker Valley to the base of Mt Cook we had to endure icy pathways, suspension bridges with snow as high as the railing with 100 metre falls to our death, -15 temperatures and snow loaded mountains causing avalanches at every turn. Once arriving at our destination and with conditions so incredible, we knew we had come away with amazing shots. As the sun set and the temperature plummets, that same path awaits in treacherous darkness. The desire to get moving is so overwhelming, a safety-based decision diced with going, or staying longer to wait for the ultimate conditions.
Confident in my abilities in the darkness, I waited just that little bit longer, not through bravery, just a desire to come away with something epic.

I don't love this photo, but how does one walk by these massive cactus-blossom showstoppers and not shoot? It's physically impossible for me.
The $2.3 million Aston Martin Vulcan stole the show at this year's Pittsburgh International Auto Show. This is one of three Vulcan's in the United States and one of only 24 that will be built. Thanks to Aston Martin Cleveland for bringing this amazing machine to our show and letting the people of Pittsburgh see it in person.

A few days ago, I went exploring the Vallée des Fantômes, with my brother Renald(lefion) and my friend Julien (Abo)...we were alone on the summit for about 2 hours....it was a magical experience that I will never forget.
The «Vallée des Fantômes»
The phantoms inhabit the valley at an altitude of 800 metres near the clear peaks. The trees are so well protected from winds that blowing snow from nearby summits causes up to three metres of snow accumulation, decking out the evergreens with a layer of soft snow that eventually camouflages them completely. These are the phantoms. It is guaranteed that you will experience a total change of scenery! After a good snowfall, the atmosphere is muted, the ground seems to be carpeted in cotton batten and the silence is omnipresent.

The 19th of September on the Island of La Palma started an eruption at the Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge.The longest eruption (86 days) in the history of the island, and the most destructive in the last century in Europe, was finally declared over by experts on Christmas Day.
Lava flows from the new volcano have destroyed 1,646 buildings – 1,318 of which were homes – as well as 73 kilometers of roads and 369 hectares of crops. The advance of the molten rock, which has covered 1,221 hectares of land, forced the evacuation of more than 7,000 people. Among these, some 2,300 residents of La Palma have lost their homes.
What is left over is a cone with all kinds of colors, hard to believe all the damage and suffering it provoked.

Sie gehört zu den weltweit acht internationalen Heiligtümern.
Sie ist päpstliche Basilika und Basilica minor. Sie ist der erste große Kirchenbau mit Gewölbe in der Terraferma und wurde zwischen 1232 und etwa 1310 mit romanischen wie gotischen Stilelementen errichtet, um das Grab des heiligen Antonius von Padua († 1231 in Arcella, heute Stadtteil von Padua) aufzunehmen.
Die Basilika ist 118 m lang und 32,5 m breit, das kurze Querhaus 55 m breit. Die größte Innenhöhe beträgt 38,5 m.
Die Kirche hat ein dreischiffiges Langhaus, einen polygonalen Chor, Chorumgang und Kapellenkranz im Osten.
Langhaus und breites Querschiff sind im typischen Baustil italienischer Bettelordenskirchen.
Der Umgangschor, der Kapellenkranz (ähnlich San Francesco in Bologna) und das dem Querhaus eingefügte Zwischenjoch sind französischen Ursprungs.
Die 37 m hohe und 28 m breite Fassade, der älteste Teil des Kirchenbaus, vereint venezianisch-byzantinische, lombardische-romanische und gotische Elemente.
Die acht Kuppeln ähnlich dem 5-Kuppel-System des Markusdoms im nahegelegenen Venedig, die zwei schlanken, sechseckigen und 68 m hohen Glockentürme und zwei minarettartige Türmchen sind typische Merkmale des byzantinischen Baustils. Der Engel auf der kegelförmigen Kuppel über der Vierung thront in 72 m Höhe. Zwei weitere Fensterrosen an den Seiten des Hochaltars beleuchten das Kircheninnere.
Zuvor habe ich eine solch verworrene Komplexität kaum erlebt. Das Gebäudeensemble besitzt alleine drei Kreuzgänge und Kapellen mit berühmtesten Fresken wie einem Chor mit Kunst Donatellos.
Padua (italienisch Padova, lateinisch Patavium) ist eine italienische Gemeinde und Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz Padua.
Sie liegt am Rande der Po-Ebene, 30 km westlich von Venedig, am Fluss Bacchiglione und hat 206.651 Einwohner.
Mit dem botanischen Garten und mit mehreren über die Altstadt verteilten Freskenzyklen des 14. Jahrhunderts besitzt Padua zwei Einträge in der Liste des Weltkulturerbes der UNESCO. It is one of the eight international shrines in the world.
It is a papal basilica and a minor basilica. It is the first large church building with a vault in the terraferma and was built between 1232 and around 1310 with Romanesque and Gothic style elements to accommodate the tomb of Saint Anthony of Padua (died 1231 in Arcella, now a district of Padua).
The basilica is 118 m long and 32.5 m wide, the short transept is 55 m wide. The greatest interior height is 38.5 m.
The church has a three-aisled nave, a polygonal choir, ambulatory and a ring of chapels in the east.
The nave and wide transept are in the typical architectural style of Italian mendicant churches.
The ambulatory choir, the ring of chapels (similar to San Francesco in Bologna) and the intermediate bay inserted into the transept are of French origin.

The eight domes similar to the 5-dome system of St. Mark's Basilica in nearby Venice, the two slender, hexagonal and 68 m high bell towers and two minaret-like turrets are typical features of the Byzantine architectural style. The angel on the conical dome above the crossing sits enthroned at a height of 72 m. Two more rose windows on the sides of the high altar illuminate the interior of the church.
I have rarely seen such confusing complexity before. The building ensemble alone has three cloisters and chapels with famous frescoes such as a choir with art by Donatello.

I spent over two hours in cold lashing wind, sometimes struggling to stay upright, shooting these kite surfers, in absolute awe of their athleticism as they skimmed, glided at blistering speed and took off with the greatest of ease. It was the most exhilarating action to watch and shoot, but eventually, as they kept going, numbness and shivering got the better of me and I had to head inside to some warm bath water.

Eine absolute Rarität konnte dann am Abend erwischt werden: Eine Doppeltraktion von zwei Lokomotiven der Baureihe 218 befördert den RegionalExpress 57592 von München Hauptnahnhof nach Kempten im Allgäu.
Another very rare combination came across Kottgeisering in the evening of the 27th September 2018: two locomotives, called rabbits, pulled regional train 57592 from Munich central station to Kempten.
I finally found a morning to go to the Poor Farm Rd graveyard. Out very early the sun over the ridge was outstanding and delivered what I was hoping for.
I plan on going back for more and making myself known again in hopes someone will come out to the road to find out what I'm up to and then turn it to me asking to be able to go in and shoot.
There is acres of what you see here...an absolute gold mine.
