The famous words of Pontius Pilate might lead one to think there are no absolutes, and while that might be true of photography, where we can alter what comes out of a camera, there ARE absolutes in most everything in life.

This sky was much prettier than what my camera captured, which is why I took the shot in the first place. A little post processing, and now it's probably prettier than the actual scene was. What is Truth? The truth is there's a lot of beauty in this world, and we can choose to look up away from our cell phones and notice it, or not. God paints pretty pictures and I, for one, love to appreciate them!

If you notice the cloud formation towards the bottom in the center, you'll see it's quite unusual! I have no idea what kind of cloud that is. Anyone know?

Stunning Barred Owl! The reason these owls are my absolute favorite, is their gorgeous marble eyes. NAILED IT!!!!! :)

An absolute rarity, this young Sharp-shinned Hawk blessed my backyard while it enjoyed its birdie meal. Taking a break here before it moves on. I've only seen a handful of hawks stop by over the years; this one probably got what it wanted. Actually, for two Super Bowl Sundays in a row, a hawk sat on my fence. Second year, I named it Brady. If it happens this year, I may have to change the name to Jared.

"Nothing much could happen

Nothing we can't shake

Though we're absolute beginners

We've nothing much at stake

As long as you're still smiling

There's nothing more I need

I absolutely love you

But we're absolute beginners

Well if my love is your love

We're certain to succeed..."

MAD Architects - 2011

Mississauga, ON

Record crowds lined the streets of Manchester to celebrate Chinese New Year and watch the city's famous Dragon Parade in what has been described as the busiest year yet. A huge 175ft long dragon, dancing lions and traditional Geisha artists were among the hundreds of participants in the parade through the city centre.

They were watched by thousands of people who crammed along Oxford Street, Portland Street and through China Town which were all closed to traffic for the celebration on Sunday. Naturally it was the dragon dancers - formed of two parts - that drew the biggest gasps from the hundreds of youngsters lining the streets with their families.

The dragons swept over and around the crowds chasing the "Pearl of Wisdom" - a large globe on a pole which is symbolic of the dragon chasing wisdom and knowledge. Manchester's civic dignitaries earlier bestowed the dragon with red ribbons to usher in good fortune.

2024 is the Lunar Year of the Dragon - which is a symbol of good luck, health and strength in Chinese culture. The reason why dragon dances are performed at the start of the Lunar New Year is because they are believed to chase away evil spirits and welcome in prosperous times.

City centre spokesman Pat Karney hailed it a "record year" for Chinese New Year celebrations saying: "The best ever Chinese New Year Celebrations. Record crowds have been treated to a feast of dance and musical performances and the Dragon had kids in absolute awe."

The village homestead. This image captures the quiet charm of rural residential life. The bright, clear sky and deep green shadows of the surrounding trees beautifully frame the sturdy, sun-baked architecture of the home, showcasing a perfect blend of natural tropical beauty and everyday domestic infrastructure.

From the garden hide.

I had hoped to bring you something different from RSPB Geltsdale.

Not only was the path an absolute quagmire, due to drainage works but there were hardly any birds.

I saw Fieldfares, Greylag Geese and Lapwings flying over and that was it.

Very disappointing and not worth braving the bitterly cold wind coming down the valley.

Are you brave enough to see?

Do you want to change it?
