I was able to get some good Eagle shots as they were quite active on the lake today.

Weather forecast for 50-60's over the next few days. I'm afraid these opportunities are dwindling! Of coarse I may have enough eagle shots to carry me through the summer! LOL!

Was able to get Gritty back on the trails this week, he's been adjusting to the move well. Star came along with us this time, and I was really happy to see her! ♥

Amazing to be able to get so close to this bird. Very preliminary moult evident.

This elusive and colorful little butterfly showed up in the Children's Garden at Dauser Trails. It teased and taunted me, daring me to get any closeup. Try as I might, I wasn't able to get "the" shot everyone wants of a butterfly.

Was surprised when looking at the photos later because I could not readily identify it. At the time I thought it was a Cloudless Sulpher but am not seeing the telltale markings. Could this be a Sleepy Orange?

I have not been able to get out and about to take any photographs in the last couple of months and like many people find the month of January very depressing. Thought I would try to find something from a better time of the year and came across this from a couple of hours spent in the lovely and ancient village of Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds.

Despite its sinister name, it must be one of the most beautiful villages in Britain and on this particular Spring day a lovely place to be even though we had to dodge a few rain showers!

These cottages, alongside the River Eye, date from the mid 1800’s and are connected to the main road on the opposite bank by footbridges such as this one.

What a lovely place to live!

I am away for a couple of weeks with very limited and painfully slow internet access so I'm afraid I will not be able to do much commenting, sometimes when I try, the comments box won't even come up!

I can't believe I was actually able to stop my fan in mid-motion.

The only Flickr-worthy picture off of my first batch of film. A lot more coming up, I've got 6 more rolls.

There are always a few oak leaves that are able to resist the wind, snow and ice and are able to wait until spring growth pushes them into history. These are known as marcescent leaves in the world of botany.

I am such a copy cat. But my friend Sue (VA2PA)

www.flickr.com/photos/myprettypics/

started taking shot of the same object for one year. Yeah - I wont be able to do one year.. so I am going to go for 1 month. I chose to use my Nikon lens cap as the same object.. dur.. like you can't tell. We will see how this goes.

Why "Death and the Maiden"? Well, it is her artist's name:

Being able to spend a few weeks within a 5 minute walk to this fascinating shoreline area has been very Inspiring

About a month ago, Günther Bähr introduced me to a stunningly beautiful rendition of "Dona Nobis Pacem" from Bach's Mass in B minor performed by Bach Collegium Japan and Masaaki Suzuki. Thank you, Günther! If you are interested, feel free to listen to this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffrsc3wdBt4.

Dona nobis pacem (Latin for "Grant us peace") is a beautiful message for the Christmas season.

Today makes it a year since I opened my Flickr account. It is always difficult to begin in a place like this when you don't know anyone who has been around here for a while. I believe Flickr is like a big drawer where there are thousands of good photographs and people to be discovered. I'd like to thank my brother-in-law Jesús, who introduced me to Flickr and helped me in my beginnings.

I would also like to thank all the people who visit my photostream regularly, those who visit it occasionally, those who like leaving comments, etc.... because thanks to all these people I have the strength and the motivation to keep going.

This picture that I want to share with you, possibly represents one of the photographic variations I like the most. It's taken in the open, where the weather conditions play an important part and you have to adjust to them to capture something special. I have been thinking for a while which picture I would like to publish today and this has been my choice; the rest of the pictures that were in my final selection will also be published soon.

In this past year I have had good times and also misunderstandings. I got to know a group of people with whom I've shared more and become friends, of which I am very proud; among these: Gema, Eber, Pilar, Teresa, Toñy, Anna, Nathalie, Javi, Raúl, Juanma, Jesús, Rafael, Jesús CM. With some of them I've shared techniques, opinions or simply special moments and I have even met a few in person.

I hope to be able to go on sharing the world as I see it through my camera lense. Being myself passionate about photography, I enjoy looking at your pictures and in many cases, learning from you.

No more self portraits only.

I'm sick of my face, I'm sure you are too.

I'm still gonna try to include self portraits [as many as I can] but some days I just won't be able to to...

And on days like that, you get pictures like this.

I've seen pictures like this all around Flickr and decided to do my own. So yah.

I'm missing childhood and my childhood friends. I know I'm only 15 and have a longass way to go but man I miss naptime like crazy. And I miss Dubai. And the people there.

What do you miss?

THAT'S CRAZY. Omgwhaaat?!

THANK YOU GUYS <3

I don't understand the huge response. Lol.

My dad and I were able to make it up to Mt Baker ski area this holiday to go snowshoe around for a bit. The day we were there, it was really cloudy with heavy snowfall. Unfortunately, were were pretty much skunked on photo opportunities, except at the end of the day, it started to clear up and we had to rush over to picture lake and get a photo of Mt Shuksan after sunset. I am super glad that we did because it was breathtakingly beautiful! The warm glow of the set sun simply lit up the mountain. This ended up being 16 photos stacked (a pan of two stacks of 8) for added resolution and lower image noise. Anyway, I hope you all are able to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed spending the time with my father!

We didn't get any snow from the recent Blizzard but we were able to see the clouds from it. Pretty neat to be on the outside looking in.

Last friday I finally was able to go to that abandoned place I mentioned here, to take some self-portraits.

I took quite a few and soon I'll share here on flickr. But I swear to God, I'm never doing that alone ever again.

Anyway, it's good that I did those photos last week, because this week the weather has given a change for the worst :P It's so cold! I could never get the "Polka Dot Minnie" little outfit out in these freezing days. Sheesh...

Also, I have a photoshoot with a country boy singer, I haven't slept in three days... due to many reasons I have to get these photos very well done. But feeling like a zombie doesn't help my case ;P

The result of the clearances after the World Wars probably. Not enough able bodied men returned home to work the farmsteads, struggling on poor upland ground was normal but without menfolk to do the heavy work, life became very harsh indeed, and enticements were offered or suggested for help with relocation to Canada and the like. It is a very sad story for areas like the Cabrach but also the Western Isles and most Scottish upland areas suffered a similar fate.

It's been a fairly lean period for me lately, not able to get out much for one reason or another and when I could get out conditions were a bit of a battle.

This is a picture I made a couple of days ago during a bleak and miserable spell in the weather.

Thanks for looking.

I once read a Terry Pratchett book where one of his characters was able to start spelling "banana", but couldn't stop. "Banananananaanananana..." Tamanawas is like that for me. It's easy to start spelling it, but where do you stop?

My mom and I took a summer hike up to this amazing waterfall in September, and I realized recently that I've never posted any pictures from that trip (except one from Cold Spring Creek, which I like very much). I love the base and how the greens glow so beautifully. The edges are intentionally dark to put the focus on the main stream.

4-second exposure - Hoya Moose Polarizer/Warming Filter

Here is a photo from about this time last year that i've been meaning to post. I haven't been able to get out and shoot many snowy pictures due to work, so I felt I should post this. It's a little bit sad looking back on this photo as the RoadRailer was one of my favorite trains.

The train almost got away from me this day, but I managed to snag one shot of it. Here is a long story detailing what happened.

While out shooting the IC and waiting for A408 with a deathstar leader to finish work in Champaign, I bounced down to the Lafayette District to shoot some NS. After receiving intel on 255's location, I moseyed around looking for spots between Tolono and Homer while shooting other NS trains. After assessing the time I think the train might arrive, I came to the conclusion that I had time to sit in my car at Tolono and look at Facebook and wait for a line-up over the diamond on ATCS. Being my first time out here, I didn't know how stuff worked such as the ATCS tendencies and how fast trains move.

It's now getting to the time where one thinks the train might be close if it hauled absolute ass, but my gut is saying it'll probably be another hour or so. As these thoughts are going through my head, another foamer pulls up next to me. I'm now thinking things will get interesting soon, but who really knows. As I start driving out of Tolono due to boredom, I hear my scanner call out "---55---" and a bunch of static per usual. I'm thinking there is no way it's here this soon. Sure enough as I get out of town, I see a tiny string of white in the distance coming out of Philo towards me at a decent speed.

After shouting a few choice words in my car, I whipped a U-turn and tried to quickly get out of town. This was difficult with low road speeds, many intersections, ice, crossing over two mainlines, and the usual slow drivers. Sure enough as this is happening, the CN lines 255 across the diamond. Now I have no idea where to shoot this. The roads are crappy and the train has no plans to stop. I got to the crossing at CP Dawn and pondered if I should play if safe and settle for what I thought was a crappy shot or move somewhere possibly better. After about 15 seconds of self deliberation, I risked it and hauled ass east. The train was now in my rearview mirror and picking up speed. Shit! I settled for the shot posted and had minimal time to get set up. If I knew the lay of the land better, I probably would've went for the nice shot just west of Sadorus but the train probably would've beaten me to it. This was the only place I felt I could get to. Regardless, it's a shot of a train that no longer exists. The slight sag, snow, and glimmering grain elevators in Tolono are nice additions.

After revisiting this line for 255 a month later and almost going through a similar situation, I learned that the RoadRailer and other NS trains don't play around here and haul ass.

I don't usually post very long play-by-play captions like this, but I know many of you enjoy reading and relating to these adrenaline-rushing situations.

I keep coming back to photograph this farm and autumn is its most beautiful season. I hope to be able to get here again this winter.

Bruno would also like to be able to play.

Not being able to sleep doesn't mean your life is in shambles....it just means you are a true prince or princess. My way of looking on the "bright side"!

My rendition of "The Princess and the Pea". A big thank you to Phillip for willing to be squished for a bit.

I was able to take a few long exposure shots before I was hit by the rain. I think this was the last one since it had lots of rain drops on the lens.

I have a dream I would be able to find a perfect palm tree: one that has a body that would go over a picturesque sand beach very close to water and then turn higher. I would love to take a picture of such a tree during a beautiful sunset.

Well, this photo almost has it! Upon our vacation in Seychelles I discovered this beautiful palm tree during a most beautiful sunset! Too bad the tree is a bit too majestical and tries to reach skies bit too early. Other than that, perfect!

I wasn't able to visit Leo Mol's sculpture of Moses as there was a wedding taking place in that part of the park. I was acle to capture the wedding waiting to go into the park

A Jorō near-miss! It was a foggy morning, so I almost didn't notice an expansive web and its spinster on the trail ahead. I was just able to duck at the last moment.

▶"Trichonephila clavata —also known as the Jorō spider (ジョロウグモ)— is a member of the Trichonephila genus. The spider can be found throughout Japan (except Hokkaidō), Korea, Taiwan, and China. The spider is also an introduced species in North America —first spotted, in 2013, in northeast Georgia and northwest / upstate South Carolina. It is believed that the species will become naturalized over much of the eastern seaboard of the United States due to its relative resistance to cold.

The adult female's body size is 2/3 to 1 inch (17–25 mm), while the male's is 1/4 to 2/5 inches (7–10 mm). The adult female individual has stripes of yellow and dark blue, with red toward the rear of the abdomen. The web of females may reach several meters in length. In sunlight, the yellow threads appear to be a rich gold color. In autumn, the smaller males may be seen in the webs for copulating. After mating, the female spins an egg sack on a tree, laying 400 to 1,500 eggs in one sack. Her lifecycle ends by late autumn or early winter with the death of the spider. The next generation emerges in spring.

Although the spider is not aggressive, it will bite to protect itself. The bite is considered painful, but not life-threatening."

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." . . . You must do the thing you think you cannot do - Eleanor_Roosevelt

Not able to get out and about much lately, so like other flickr friends, I'm digging back in the archives. I thought this photo might be nice to post since spring is just around the corner.

I wasn't able to catch this little guy in flight. That little patch of red you see on the wing in these shots is nothing compared to how he looked in flight. And he sang the sweetest song. Gorgeous!

While out scouting during the recent heavy fog I discovered this tree and was immediately taken by it's beautiful symmetry and due to the thick mist I was able to isolate it from any distracting background. I hope you enjoy the image.

As always any comments, thoughts or critiques are much appreciated

This guy is sick of waiting to finally transform himself into a butterfly and be able to fly. Using some balloons he tries to take off from the ground and see the world from above ...

But obviously he miscalculated the correct size and number of balloons to get into the air. Try again or keep on waiting buddy! ;-)

Frogs are able to camouflage themselves to match their surroundings, although their camouflage attempts aren't as rapid as those of chameleons. This is one of our backyard pond green frogs, attempting to match the colors of the plants and rocks in the pond. She was fairly well hidden, I had to look very closely to find her. This is a hard crop. Backyard photography.

On the 3rd of July 2021 I was able to capture the MRCE-Vectron with its Stickers and a Container/Tanktainertrain in Denzlingen.

After shooting POAY at Pine Point Rd we headed 20 miles south for our next shot. But after a little time and a check of the timetable we calculated that he must have gone in the hole at Saco (CPF 211) for Amtrak to run around.

And sure enough our supposition was confirmed as Boston bound Downeaster train 694 came into view here on the former Boston and Maine Portland Division rolling down Main 1 at modern day MP 226 (measured from Mattawamkeag, ME). For whatever reason this train didn't have the normal ex F40 NPCU in the lead and instead had this grungy quarter century old P42DC doing the honors, with a sister P42 on the east end trailing the standard five car Amfleet consist.

At right is the wood frame Wells Beach depot built in 1906 that resembles a home in its styling. I've not been able to find much info about this station whose design is seemingly unique among B&M depots. What I could find is that after 53 years of railroad use it was sold in February 1959 to Fuelane Corp. some five years before the last passenger train passed on its way from Portland, and it has remained in private hands since.

After 36 years passenger trains returned to these rails when Amtrak's Downeaster service commenced. But those trains don't stop here, instead calling at a modern intermodal transportation center behind me one mile to the west right off of Interstate 95.

This RoidWeek I will be solely sharing Polaroids from my trip to Mexico at the end of last year. When we all were still able to explore this wonderful world.

Our most common chickadee in Vancouver's Stanley Park, this masked bandit was bouncing around the marshy area across the path from Lost Lagoon. He was curious as to what I was doing and the only reason I was able to get a shot of these very active birds.

What better way to spend a stormy day than indoors drinking beer, and I had to open quite a few before I found a cap I liked :D... only joking!

I kept this beer bottle cap from a while ago because I liked the colours and thought I might be able to do something with it.

Finally was able to update my golden glider with parts from disco Robin and Batgirl. Been waiting to finish her off for a while now. Obviously the fig is based more on her new 52/rebirth look.

I didn't know if I would be able to take a foliage ride so I thought I'd better grab a shot from home.

I haven't been able to take a really good pic of this boy in a long time! Soren is at that stage where he tends to make weird expressions when facing the camera. If I can get him genuinely laughing, as I did here, he is incredibly photogenic.

I snapped this at the almost former (as of 3 pm today) Warehouse 21 in Santa Fe. W21 will be demolished today to make way for the new and improved W21, a place for teens to hang out and express themselves without alcohol, drugs, or violence. Since Soren will be 13 in less than a month, I thought this an appropriate place to shoot a good teen portrait of him.

My baby! Almost totally grown! Wow.....
