A Clockwork Orange is a part of a creative series of butterfly images. This one was created from images licensed from Shutterstock. The concept and creative work is mine, and the title comes from the film of the same name. This image turned out to be a study in combining colors as well.
A male banded demoiselle damselfly, Calopteryx splendens. Taken at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire, England at Watersmeet, the junction of the rivers, Trent and Thame. I think it is a young male as its wing colouration is not very bright.

Savannah sparrows breed in Alaska, Canada, northern, central, and Pacific coastal United States, Mexico, and Guatemala. The Pacific and Mexican breeders are resident, but other populations are migratory, wintering from the southern United States across Central America and the Caribbean to northern South America. These birds inhabit open grasslands, tundra, shrub land, meadows, wetlands, and agricultural fields. They can also be found on beaches, sand dunes, salt marshes, and estuaries.
Savannah sparrows are social birds and typically spend time in pairs or family groups in the breeding season. However, before the winter migration, they assemble in large flocks and become very energetic and noisy. Their flight call is a thin 'seep' and the song is a mixture of 'chirps' and trills. Savannah sparrows are diurnal; they forage by day on the ground or in low bushes. Particularly in winter, they can also be found in grazed low-growth grassland. They feed by walking along the ground and occasionally run or hop to snatch their prey. They will also make short flights to catch insects in mid-air.

A red-whiskered bulbul (pycnonotus jocosus) perched atop a non-prickly cactus. Photographed in Belle Mare, Mauritius.
A Grizzly continues his search for an easy catch by looking under the fallen trees (snags) for any salmon that are washed up because they have become so weak.
If they are already dead, they often wouldn't bother with them, but if hungry enough, then they would grab them and eat their heads only. The most nutrients come from the brain.

The trogans are a much sought after species to photograph and often it is difficult because they love the canopy and are often quite high up making it very difficult to get a good image. They are truly beautiful . We were so excited to have had this opportunity on our recent trip to Ecuador. The Resplendent Quetzal is part of the Torgan family. Loved him and it was hard to say good by to this stunning species.

I have spent a few days with my brother in the Caribbean. He works as a lifeguard and I took advantage of when he wasn't working to contemplate the beach from the Lifeguard chair. What a pity that the holidays are over!
We had a slightly wintry landscape this morning, but it stayed above freezing even as it snowed, yielding a slushy, slippery mess by late afternoon. Not quite ideal winter conditions, especially with the dark clouds all day long. This is the wide water (much like a pond) leading from the Regnitz River to the creek in Erba Park. [DSC02533_lr_2000]

Saw a wild goose at a natural bathing lake and watched him all day..a loner and not at all shy..up to a certain distance...

Le premier phare construit en 1845, haut de 33 mètres, avait une portée de 18 miles, ce qui est nettement insuffisant compte tenu du grand nombre de récifs présents le long de notre littoral et du danger qu’ils représentent.Un second phare sera donc érigé, à partir de 1897. Le nouveau phare, d’une portée de 27 miles, est allumé en 1902. Ce phare, entièrement construit en pierre de taille, est le plus haut d’Europe (et même le plus haut du monde) avec ses 82,50 mètres. Cette robuste tour de granit de Kersanton est tapissée de 12 500 plaques d’opaline, et pas moins de 365 marches à gravir pour une belle récompense : un panorama exceptionnel sur les Abers. Looking Close... on Friday: A single egg
A tiny nest that fell out of a tree after it was finished with; a little plastic egg from my Child Care Centre; a Crimson Rosella feather from the bird bath; in the Mulberry bush which needs a good trim this Autumn.
A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird sits on a nest as the male only sticks around for mating and then he leaves. This is the first nest that I have ever seen. We will be going back to check on the little ones . Wish it was a little lower and not so dark. Bucks Co. PA.

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.
A last tribute to my dear father-in-law, who passed away in his sleep last weekend. He had been ill for some time.
He was very fond of gardening, so instead of flowers I folded some butterflies, representing his children and grandchildren.
We will miss him very much.
I will also be absent from Flickr for the rest of this week. Take care and see you later.
