I went out late in the day with my tripod and camera to try and get a photo of this eastern screech owl. I used an app that allows me to get about 75 or so feet from the camera (which I did) to trigger the shutter, this is the result.

“Cologne, a 2,000-year-old city spanning the Rhine River in western Germany, is the region’s cultural hub. A landmark of High Gothic architecture set amid reconstructed old town, the twin-spired Cologne Cathedral is also known for its gilded medieval reliquary and sweeping river views.” My great-grandfather was from Cologne, so the beautiful city that we visited several years ago seemed very special to me....

Walking through the temperate rainforest, this little beauty was stumbled across.

One of several small waterfalls on a 2.5 klm circuit near Hazelbrook in the mid Blue Mountains, Australia.

Entry into the walk can be started from either Oatlands Rd or Winbourne Rd Hazelbrook NSW. This walk has 5 small waterfalls in a short distance and are best after some decent rain.

A fantastic easy walk with lush temperate rainforest with flowing cascades and wonderful Tree Ferns. This walk is quite an easy to moderate grade which leaves the soul refreshed!!! is some confusion on the naming of Horseshoe Falls as I believe it is now named Lyrebird Falls(changed in 1970) and Glow Worm Nook Falls is further up the track, which is where the above shot was taken. If anyone can confirm this please let me know.

My childhood home is only a couple of miles from this scene on the rim of the Black Canyon National Park. This area holds a special place in my heart and it's beauty is evident. The ancient and twisted cedar/juniper tree are plentiful. They are in a 2 way tie with Quakies as my favorite tree.

Thanks for look at my photostream and I always appreciate your comments and favs!

Stourhead is a 2,650-acre estate at the source of the River Stour in the southwest of Wiltshire, extending into Somerset.

The gardens were laid out between 1741 and 1780 in a classical 18th-century design set around a large lake, achieved by damming a small stream so the lake is artificially created. Following a path around the lake is meant to evoke a journey similar to that of Aeneas's descent in to the underworld.

Lakeside features include the five-arched Palladian Bridge at the eastern extremity of the lake

Exposition of Max Pinckers in the old hospital chapel

(was part of Krasj, a 2 yearly art trail, which brings several modern artists together in several locations, spread over the city)

Max Pinckers is a Belgian documentary photographer, who became a nominee member of Magnum Photos in 2015. He grew up in Indonesia, India, Australia and Singapore.

How do you communicate, through photography, what it’s like to live in a city like Mumbai? A city of such variety, ethnically and economically, one of total poverty for so many and free of want for a few.

Traditionally, Western photographers have approached the city from a humanitarian perspective, using people – their expressions, gestures, moments of clarity – that might symbolize the social realities of the city.

Max Pinckers found a new way to visualize Mumbai. He photographed with a careful, cool composition, how human beings apply their creativity, how they problem solve, how, in the most basic ways, they use ingenuity to survive and overcome the hardships of their environment. Pinckers advocates a manifest subjective approach, which is made visible through the explicit use of theatrical lighting, stage directions or extras. Extensive research and diligent technical preparation are combined with improvisation to obtain lively, unexpected, critical, poetic and simultaneously documentary images.

This is a 2.9-mile out-and-back trail near Bend, Oregon. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 30 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, cross-country skiing, and fishing, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is mostly along the river, but at points heads further inland and passes a small pond. We started at Dillon Falls trailhead and went down to Slough Use Day area and back. We found all sorts of fall color along the river.

Life and death are of supreme importance. Time swiftly passes by and opportunity is lost. Each of us should strive to awaken. Awaken! Take heed, do not squander your life.”

OKUNOIN is the largest cemetery in the country. Located on Mount Koya (高野山 Koya-san) in Wakayama Prefecture (和歌山県), that cemetery does not just contain an estimated 200,000 graves, but a site which is sacred to the Shingon School of Buddhism, being where the mausoleum of the sect’s founder, Kukai or Kobo-Daishi, is located and where he is said to lie in eternal meditation.

The cemetery, together with the mausoleum at the end of a 2 kilometre walk through the cemetery is in fact a pilgrimage site for Shingon Buddhism, one of the mainstream schools of Buddhism in Japan

An image shot at dawn, of the stunning Humber Bridge, Nr Hull, East Yorkshire, UK.

An image shot a few years ago, of the amazing Humber Bridge, spanning the River Humber between East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

The Bridge is a 2.22-kilometre (2,430 yd; 7,300 ft; 1.38 mi) single-span road suspension bridge, which opened to traffic on 24 June 1981.

When it opened, the bridge was the longest of its type in the world; it was not surpassed until 1998, with the completion of the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, and is now the eleventh-longest.

I'd say it's the most beautiful however, low slung and graceful it is, British engineering at its very best.

I'd love a return visit....

An early morning start and a 2 hour drive from my home in Christchurch to Lake Heron for a few photo’s and then a morning trout fishing at this beautiful spot in the Ashburton Lakes area. With plenty of action on the water with fish seeming to be saying I’m here, I settled on a few compositions including this frame looking South East along the shore.

Marshall oversees a Chicago bound Metra movement on the steps of Tower A-2 at Western Avenue. Work took me within walking distance of this location so when I posted a random shot of the tower a few hours prior on a group chat, Marshall chimed in saying what your there now? I was just there 5 minutes ago, do you wanna tour of A-2? It didn't take me long to respond.

This J. Wallace Johnson House is a 2-1/2 story, Queen Anne styled home built in the early 1890s. Mr. Johnson was a farmer's son born in Monroe County, West Virginia in 1847. In 1856, his father came west to Illinois, and settled upon a farm in northwest McLean County. As an adult, the son farmed the land and raised cattle as a livestock dealer. In the early 1890's Johnson retired from his rural farm and had this Queen Anne styled house built on the northeast corner of Franklin Square. The house was turned into apartments in the early 1940's.

The J. Wallace Johnson House is a contributing property in Bloomington's Franklin Square Historic District, which is located northwest of downtown Bloomington. The Square is named in honor of Franklin Price, who was the mayor of Bloomington Mayor in 1856 when land for the Square was gifted to the city.

Franklin Square was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and was designated a local historic district in 1979. The houses of Franklin Square were built in a variety of architectural styles from the mid 19th century through the early 20th century, including Georgian Revival, Italianate, Colonial, Queen Anne, and Richardsonian Romanesque.

Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. Bloomington is home to State Farm Insurance, Country Financial and Beer Nuts. Illinois Wesleyan University is located here, while the neighboring city of Normal is home to Illinois State University and Heartland Community College. Bloomington is 135 miles (217 km) southwest of Chicago, and 162 miles (261 km) northeast of St. Louis. The estimated population of Bloomington in 2019 was 77,330, with a metro population of 191,067.

Pier 4 Park is a 2.4 hectare park found in the west-end of Hamilton Harbour near Bay Street North in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The park features a multi-use asphalt trail, 349 metres in length and 4 metres wide which provides barrier-free access to all areas of the park and linkages with the surrounding harbourfront precinct.[1] A total of $2.2 million has been invested for the redevelopment of the park which includes a 24-metre tugboat which acts as the centrepiece of an interactive water play area for children. A dramatically curved lookout pier includes a protected sun shelter and benches to view the marinas, parkland and vistas of the surrounding Bay.

In addition Hamilton Harbour Commissioners (HHC) have constructed Hamilton Pier which provides 0.4 hectares of additional parkland and fish habitat.
