I went out late in the day with my tripod and camera to try and get a photo of this eastern screech owl. I used an app that allows me to get about 75 or so feet from the camera (which I did) to trigger the shutter, this is the result.
One of the iconic peaks along the Kananaskis Trail. Too many peaks to pick a favorite, but Mt. Kidd is high on the short list.

“Cologne, a 2,000-year-old city spanning the Rhine River in western Germany, is the region’s cultural hub. A landmark of High Gothic architecture set amid reconstructed old town, the twin-spired Cologne Cathedral is also known for its gilded medieval reliquary and sweeping river views.” My great-grandfather was from Cologne, so the beautiful city that we visited several years ago seemed very special to me....

This is a 2.9-mile out-and-back trail near Bend, Oregon. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 1 h 30 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, cross-country skiing, and fishing, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is mostly along the river, but at points heads further inland and passes a small pond. We started at Dillon Falls trailhead and went down to Slough Use Day area and back. We found all sorts of fall color along the river.

Already tired from our second attempt to find the Spinifex Pigeon, Nita decided she needed a rest and went to sit near the parking area where there are several facilities.
I was somewhat disappointed, but not entirely; after all, the trip had allowed us to find the Pink Cockatoo.
I started wandering alone towards the west of the camping area when I began to notice and photograph some activity, first a Thornbill, then a group of what I initially thought were Variegated Fairywrens, which I had photographed on a previous visit.
Suddenly, I noticed that the males didn’t have the characteristic reddish back. I analyzed the photos more carefully and... a great and magnificent surprise, they were the Splendid Fairywrens!
I began photographing every opportunity they gave me while shouting, “Nita, Nita,” but Nita couldn’t hear me.
Dilemma: should I go call her and risk losing the chance to improve my photos (she will say I made the wrong choice), or should I stay and possibly never see them again?
At first, I chose the first option and, after a few more photos, decided on the second.
When I finally found her and we returned to the spot, as I feared, they were gone, but at least I had some photos.
With Nita feeling quite disappointed but resigned, we were heading back when, near the creek, we noticed some activity. There they were, now just a pair, but that was enough.
We began following them and trying to capture every possible moment, and in one of those moments, I got this shot. Along the way, both Nita and I captured several poses, although they were almost always either a bit distant or surrounded by too much vegetation. Nevertheless, since we had several opportunities, we were very satisfied.
And the best was yet to come.

This is a 2 picture panoramic version of my last post. I am posting this one to show the scale of what I was lucky enough to see in person. The soft white glow on the left of the horizon is the city of Palmer. To the right of it is Butte mountain. I believe that the mountains along the right side of the horizon is Matanuska Peak. What looks like a field of white snow below the horizon is a frozen Knik river.

Shooting fungi so low to the ground doesn't have to be a hassle if you turn your tripod upsidedown, and have a camera with a 360 degrees flipscreen, so you can still focus with prime lenses searching for the right POV.

This was taken when we had a 2 day spell of snow in November. The weather forecast was for a small amount of snow overnight so I wasn't going to go out. I woke at 4am so I checked outside and there was a very thin covering in the back garden, in my sleepy state I didn't think that our back garden can be quite sheltered so I went back to bed. Luckily my mate Wayne phoned me on his way to work to tell me that there was in-fact quite a lot of snow and that I should definitely go out, I owe him one.
I had always wanted to photograph this tree but it had never really worked for me but on that day everything came together, the bracken had been thinned out which opened up the composition, there was mist, snow and some lingering autumn colour, its now my favourite woodland shot. It really shows that if you work a location it does pay off. Thanks for looking.

I was just there 5 minutes ago, do you wanna tour of A-2? It didn't take me long to respond.

Just back from a lovely week in North Wales. Sorry I haven't been around for a while but so busy getting ready to go away. Pier 4 Park is a 2.4 hectare park found in the west-end of Hamilton Harbour near Bay Street North in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
The park features a multi-use asphalt trail, 349 metres in length and 4 metres wide which provides barrier-free access to all areas of the park and linkages with the surrounding harbourfront precinct.[1] A total of $2.2 million has been invested for the redevelopment of the park which includes a 24-metre tugboat which acts as the centrepiece of an interactive water play area for children. A dramatically curved lookout pier includes a protected sun shelter and benches to view the marinas, parkland and vistas of the surrounding Bay.
In addition Hamilton Harbour Commissioners (HHC) have constructed Hamilton Pier which provides 0.4 hectares of additional parkland and fish habitat.
Excerpt from english.seoul.go.kr/starfield-library-coex/:
Starfield Library, located in the center of COEX Mall, is considered as one of the most captivating libraries in Seoul. It features an enormous 13-meter-tall bookshelf ensconced in a 2,800-square-meter atrium that is perfect for reading and studying comfortably under ambient lighting.
Starfield Library is not only grand in size, but also its scale of collection—it holds approximately 70,000 books that vary in genre, ranging from the humanities and economics to books on hobby and in foreign language, as well as approximately 600 domestic and international magazines, celebrity books, and even e-books.
Starfield Library is great for not only reading various books, but also for studying as it has various types of tables equipped with power plugs for laptop use. What’s more, various events are also held here, such as book-themed cultural events from author talks and poetry readings to lectures and literary concerts.
Visiting Starfield Library during the day and at evening is completely different—the evening ambiance of the dimly lit atrium gives a new experience of leisure after a long day of hard work.
This is a 2-seat version and is used to give extremely expensive passenger rides.
I have mixed feelings about these modern, 2-seat conversions. Apart from a couple of one-off examples, there were no two-seaters during the war; your first flight in a Spitfire was strictly a solo affair. In the late 1940s, a small number of 2-seaters were manufactured (or converted Mk IXs) for the Indian and Irish Air Forces - about 17 in total. In recent years, several more, otherwise perfectly serviceable, Mk IXs have been butchered to make 2-seaters. The revenue from joyrides helps keeps the single seat aircraft flying. Even so, the T9s are my least favourite Spitfires to see, and I rarely photograph them.
This aircraft, MJ627, is a genuine war survivor and is known to have shot down an enemy aircraft. It appears to be one of the original batch converted for the Irish Air Force in 1950.
If you fancy a flight in the back seat of a Spitfire, be prepared to hand over about £3,000/$4,000 for a 30 minutes experience.

Alexander Beets on the Saxophone. View On Black
Goa is more acclaimed for its flamboyant music and dance and the spirit of happiness then for anything else.
You have all kinds of music permeating the state of Goa from its local Konkani to the international trends of trance and oft times, lamentably, the Britney Spears variety of popular music performed by some Goan bands. Jazz as is usual does not have a vast popular audience but there are some earnest believers in that genre of music.
Jazz in Goa is in a state of creative ferment with the efforts of the Amando Gonsalves and his merry band of jazz organisers
You can read more on them at the Heritage Jazz www.heritagejazz.com/
Artists from around the world arrive and play in and around the heritage area of Campal in Panjim right next door to the heritage Gonsalves Mansion.
Saskia Laroo was performing in Goa on the night of 7th December 2008, soon after the Bombay terrorist carnage on 26the November. She is magic on the trumpet and as I said earlier, a consummate artist.
The line up on that night was the following -
2. Warren Byrd on keyboard and vocals
3. Andy Valkenburg (bass)...(( I better do his shots fast..)
4. Ms. Dorota Piotrowska (Drum)
5. Mr. Alexander Beets (Saxophonist
Some of the shots of that night, in no strict order are here.
