Driving home after work I spied this scene, hidden up a drive off the street I was on.
Of course, I circled the block and went back for more.
I had my Zenitar 16mm f2.8 prime lens on. I'm trying to learn it's ways. Practice, always practice. =)
The sculpture used to be located just off the street. I'd see it every night on my way home from work.
I'm not sure what the sculptor had in mind.
It reminds me of a zero.
Perhaps it's the building that it's in front of: the Illinois department of Revenue. The Tax Man.
Maybe not. ;-)
The piece was moved a year or so ago, during a renovation project. I'm not sure why it was placed here. Perhaps to clarify the meaning?

Poor Snow Lily is alone since Zero was moved to New York to make cubs at the Seneca Park Zoo. Hopefully she'll have a new buddy soon. It was a cloudy day and the reflection you see from the camera is just what I saw standing there.

More of Jan Schoonhoven at my weblog:
07 is a single digit number, surely...
We're Here are counting to ten, and no more!
Hand-held macro (again!) & lit by a Speedlite on a stick. Good job the evenings are lengthening; I'm going to wear this macro lens out!
Ground zero with a one inch tall toad stool. Boy did I get wet laying in the grass, but you didn't see me....180MM @ 1:1
There's always Justice when I'm around... even when visiting Club Zero in Second Life. :)
Again just a simple snapshot I tried to edit to look like I was in a club with various flashing lights in a darkened atmosphere. In this case I used Club Zero's Windlight settings (as opposed to the usual avatar optimized WL I normally use) and went from there with my own edits.
I kinda like it, actually. Using it for a profile pic for a while at least.

The Story of The Grand Hotel
The Grand Hotel was established in 1952. Supported by red columns and with golden roof tiling, the Grand Hotel stands midway up Yuanshan, much like a majestic 14-storey palace. Facing Keelung River, with Yangming Mountain to its, the hotel offers an amazing view of Songshan District to the East and Danshui to the West. The Grand Hotel, structured through western construction methods, is decorated with elegant classical Chinese details. This fusion of East and West makes the hotel a fine expression of Chinese art upon a foundation of modern western architecture. No matter if visitors are tourists or business men, all those who stop by and marvel at the architectural beauty of the hotel would no doubt want to reserve for themselves a wonderful stay.
The hotel is equipped with 500 rooms which offer a birds-eye-view of bustling Taipei in the day and a serene city in the night. The timeless joy of observing a modern city in a classic Chinese guest room is simply amazing. The Grand Hotel offers a variety of dining choices, including Chinese, Western and Japanese restaurants serving cuisine of supreme quality.
Ground Zero, One World Trade Center, New-York, 2015
Very moving way to remember what happened on this day of 2001.
When I listened to the Thrawn Trilogy, I heard about the Zero-G Assault Stormtrooper and had to build some instantly. A story about them is coming soon.
