The Grant’s Zebra [Equus quagga boehmi] is the smallest of the five primary subspecies of the common Plains Zebra - the others being the Burchell's, Chapman's, Crawshay's and Maneless. There are two other full species - Grevy's [Equus grevyi] and the Mountain Zebra [Equus zebra].

Zebras are rare ornamental animals, but they are on the verge of extinction because people hunted for their skin and meat.
In the 1970s, zebras were distributed in six African countries, and in 2013 they mainly lived in southern Ethiopia and Northern Kenya. Affected by poaching, disease and inadequate water and pasture resources, the number of them dropped from 15,000 in the late 1970s to 2,000 in 2013. In 2000, zebras were listed as endangered species

This was taken a few years ago at Blackbrook Zoo on a visit with two of my photography friends. It is nice to look back through earlier photographs .. this brought back some happy memories!
