Mountain zebras have narrow, numerous black and white stripes that extend to the hooves, with the belly being white and lacking stripes. The stripes on the hindquarters are broad and horizontal, while the rump has a "gridiron" pattern of dark markings. A key distinguishing feature is the lack of shadow stripes, unlike the plains zebra.

Guten Wochenstart!

Zebra battles are common on the plains of Africa. A determined stallion has to prove he has the right stuff, before he can mate with a female. He may need to fight.

It is still dry season and the veld and Zebras almost created a B&W image.

Wynwood Walls final 5/5 - urban graffiti art Miami Fla. USA -

pic uploaded for Wall groups.

The Wynwood Walls was conceived by the renowned community revitalizer and placemaker, the late Tony Goldman in 2009. He was looking for something big to transform the warehouse district of Wynwood, and he arrived at a simple idea: “Wynwood’s large stock of warehouse buildings, all with no windows, would be my giant canvases to bring to them the greatest street art ever seen in one place.” Starting with the 25th–26th Street complex of six separate buildings, his goal was to create a center where people could gravitate to and explore, and to develop the area’s pedestrian potential.

These wild animals are often seen at a distance from the highway and often not seen at all. Luckily, this trip by they happened to be close.

During my first African safari I was confined within my 4x4 vehicle for most of the time. Even if it was an incredible experience, I wanted a taste of walking safari. This activity provides a closer contact with animals, but also requires more time at your disposal.

The best I could manage at the time was to overpay a local ranger for a short hike over the edge of Ngorongoro crater. Beside the great view, the only encounter we made was with a group of zebras. As we got closer, they became aware of our presence and slowly started to fade away.

This guy was the bravest in the group, and we spent several minutes in a chasing game. He finally gave a last glimpse to the weird guy who was stalking him with a camera, before disappearing into the bushes.

A further crop of the zebra pic.

The MF4 Pride members had brought down a Zebra during the night and having had their fill left the remains for the cubs.

The cubs were growling at each other and were more worried about protecting their portion from there siblings rather than enjoying the meal.

The mountain zebra is a threatened species in the family Equidae. It is native to south-western Angola, Namibia and South Africa. Like all extant zebras, mountain zebras are boldly striped in black or dark brown and no two individuals look exactly alike. The whole body is striped except for the belly.

In Explore 7-3-15 Just as I was ready to call it a day, I caught sight of this swallowtail in the veronica.

During the time of the spring rains, migrating zebras (Equus quagga} with a colt move along a cliff top overlooking Lake Ndotu at sunrise, with Mt Lemakarot in the distance.
