UAE Trip - Day 4
Popularly known as the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, it is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world.
The amazing Sheikh Zayed Mosque from Wahat Al Karama Memorial. If you are looking to get the ultimate photo of the Grand Mosque, this it it ! Although you can get some amazing photos of the Mosque from inside (stay tuned, more to come), stepping back and seeing it from afar is impressive. Not to mention the perfectly placed water feature on the ground which creates an amazing reflection…
Architectural beauty of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, UAE
It has approximately 1,000 columns which are clad with more than 20,000 marble panels.
عيد الوصل للخلي في بعض من الأيام شوف الحبيب يسلي و يشفي جروح اجدام خل الهموم أتولي و قو الصبر باعزام خلك حسين الدلي لي له خدود انعام
On one of my last days in the UAE, it was cloudy, overcast, and just kinda of blah. I really wanted to get this reflections shot of the mosque, but the weather looked really unpromising. That, and I also didn't want to drag Samiksha all the way down there for a dud and waste her time. We talked about it and we decided to just go anyway. We made the 1.5-ish hour drive when it started to rain... Not looking good. However, once we started to get about 10 minutes away, it began to open up a little. By the time we got there, there was a clear opening in the sky to the west. We walked over to my spot, set up the camera and the sky started to really take some shape and color! This ended up being another 9 image panoramic with multiple stacks for each image to remove the people and cars in the scene. The full resolution image shows some really impressive detail - I cant wait to print it big someday haha. It was a really amazing experience!! I hope you all can enjoy it as much as I do!

On a recent Cruise, before the Covid 19 nightmare, we stopped off at Abu Dhabi. One of our party had lived there for many years and he had arranged with a friend to guide us for the day. Our first visit was to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and what an experience that was! One of our party compared it to Venice and while it did not have the history etc. of that city it had the opulence, attention to detail and craftsmanship synonymous with that city! Our guide, Abdullah, was one of those special people who enjoy showing you around as much as you enjoy his descriptions. He was wonderful, helpful and a fund of knowledge! This view is from the visitor centre which was an experience in itself.
It is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates. The design of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque has been inspired by Persian, Mughal and Moorish mosque architecture, particularly the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan and the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco being direct influences. The dome layout and floorplan of the mosque was inspired by the Badshahi Mosque and the architecture was inspired by Persian, Mughal and Moorish design. Its archways are quintessentially Moorish and its minarets classically Arab. The design of the mosque can be best described as a fusion of Arab, Persian, Mughal and Moorish architecture.
