I found a little bit of autumn color in Zion Canyon.

It's an iconic shot, but how can you say no to this one that's served up on a platter like this? The bridge gets a little wiggly when cars drive by, so bring your tripod and for sure bring your sense of sharing and friendliness as you will not be alone here when the sky lights up. Enjoy the escape! Erno

The beautiful panoramas in Zion National Park get most of the attention. But, we also enjoyed the Zion Spring going on nearer to the ground, as with these cacti near the Emerald Pools, April 19, 2023.

This is the first post from the first day of my 8 day 10 park, Southwest Tour. I arrived in Zion mid afternoon and just my luck all campsites were taken, I cruised the campground hoping for someone to pull out as I was driving by, but still no luck. Looks like I'll be sleeping in my car off the road somewhere. I then decided to take my camera down to the Virgin River and snap a few shots, so I pulled into the parking lot of the picnic area right next to the campground then walked down the path towards the stream. I noticed that there were a couple of campsites that were unoccupied. How did I and everyone else miss these few spots. Turns out that these few sites are carry-in sites, which means you have to carry your stuff from your car to the site and park your car elsewhere. This worked out just perfect because I fully intended to shoot the watchman that evening at 11:00pm. Turns out this site has an unobstructed view and sits the closest to the watchman than any other site. Luck-Good!!

Once settled in my site I proceeded to drive up through the tunnel to the back of the park because I knew I would be leaving at 4:00am (in the dark) and if I didn't do it during the day, I would miss that section of the park. I was looking in particular for a rock formation I had seen in a photo by Ryan Engstrom. I managed to find it with little difficulty and during my rock hunting I ran across this fellow watching me walk by. He looked so healthy and regal and just stared as I knelt down to snap a few. I think I took about 30 shots of this guy before he grew bored of posing and bounded away straight up behind him, man are theses animals nimble, I stood in awe of the path he chose to make his exit, as if gravity was suspended. :)

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great week everyone :)

At Hurricane - just outside the gate. There is a nice diner there "Gourmet Grill" for an after hike meal.

I had the very rare opportunity to be in Zion NP with snow on the ground and be essentially alone. With some inclement weather and the government shutdown concerns, there was no one there. We saw four other cars in the entire canyon. It was a shame really, the canyon was in spectacular form. To have it all to yourself is breathtaking. I will never get tired of this very special place. A scattering of snow from this morning, the clouds caressing the red sandstone walls, truly magical.

Entrando nelle gallerie della zona più spettacolare del parco, si aprono scenari maestosi contraddistinti da rocce rosse e stratificate da forze millenarie.

Zion National Park was a lovely 2 sim national park within the virtual game of second life that my friend created.

The sim was not running for very long but before he took it down due to other SL commitments, he granted me one last visit so take this lovely picture

Thank you Judge for creating a lovely ridding sim, it will be a shame to see it go.

The "Watchman" in Zion National Park is a prominent sandstone mountain peak. The iconic shot in the past was from the bridge. They no longer allow photographers on the bridge. Jon and I found a walking trail with a different perspective. And on night 3...God provided a beautiful sunset.

Literally the coolest hike we did while in Zion. July and August are "monsoon season" and flash flooding is always a possibility. Two weeks prior there was a large flash flood that closed many of the popular trails in the park. Luckily it happened in the evening and no one was in the Narrows - no one got hurt. You learn to pay strict attention to the weather forecasts while there.

The "Narrows" are upstream from the main Zion Canyon, where the walls squeeze to slot canyon dimensions: 1,500 feet tall and as narrow as 30 feet wide in places. In these spots, the water flows from wall to wall so hiking it involves a lot of wading through the Virgin River.

After work assignment in Cedar City Utah, decided to stop by Zion National Park. Took a little hike up to see this view! Wow! There are just no words when seeing something like this except feeling a deep gratitude to God for being such a great artist! This was my first visit here and with so many amazing views and beautiful, interesting things to see, I’m sure it won’t be my last...
