The weather recently has been less than acceptable all over the country and yesterday was no different. I wanted to shoot something and just get out for a while, so I found a field with sage grass being saturated with the misting rain. The light was awesome, like a huge soft box so I used a long lens to isolate the subject and focus on those tiny droplets of cold.

Thanks for stopping by.

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.

*My ways

We went to Gui´s school yesterday. He had a presentation about classic literature and did a great job on it. We are so proud of him.

When we went out to the Parking place the sun was setting and provided wonderful and painterly moments. In this picture unfortunately an old house was covering part of the scene, but in a way I liked the composition.

Wish you all a happy Wednesday. Sun is shining here. I am busy with Spring cleaning. :)

Yesterday we attended our first Tuesday lunchtime concert. Pieces by a trio of violin, viola and piano.

gratitude for all visits to my photostream

Yesterday morning's mist over the Bridgewater Canal brought an eerie mood to the graveyard next door to the towpath. A cobweb completed the image.

An ominous view over Clear Lake yesterday morning as the weather forecast was predicting freezing rain, sleet mixed with snow for our area starting late last night!

Well guess what? The weather man must know what he is doing because that is just what we are experiencing here this morning!

Sigh . . . not good!

We went down to Shirley Moor today only to see the rear end of the Barn Owl off in the distance. This is another of my photos taken yesterday.

Taken near Fort Mohave, AZ

I've noticed that most of my still life photography is gritty and a bit masculine (which is weird because that's not how I see myself!), so today I tried to break out of my comfort zone. My goal was light and airy, and I think I made it about halfway there.

This little antique clock is making its way into a lot of my photos. I absolutely love it, and it has my name on it! How cool is that?!?!

"Mum did her very best with the picture making thing today to get my photo. Sadly, Dad has gone down with the 'flu, (or we hope it's only that, not the Covid thing) and Mum's been waiting for an important phone call, that didn't happen.

But I'm here, back in my bookshelf, to wish everyone a Happy New Year, like my Rufus did yesterday."

Better viewed large, and thank you for your favourites. :)

Yesterday

by Charles A. McLennan (Grandy)

Old tractor dismembered and shrouded in dust

Her body disfigured by horrible rust;

Her day is long over, her plowing all done,

No more will she flash in the sun.

The spark plugs are gone; there's no fire inside.

Her pistons long idle, her spirit has died;

She rusts in dishonor, not even a grave

In reward for the service she gave.

In her prime she could plow fifteen acres a day.

The binder in fall was considered as play.

With full tanks she'd boldly strike out, at the dawn;

Be there until last light had gone.

One way or harrows, she didn't much care;

The belt pull of harvest when fall's in the air;

Her real work, revealing what lay below ground

Each new year when spring rolled around.

In a barn back of nowhere, abandoned, alone;

Been robbed of the seat that was used as a throne.

No one to sing to the song of the gears;

Everything's gone with the years . . .

Almost all kiwis reacted with sadness and lots of love and support for the victims of the extreme act of cowardice shooting people in their place of worship. But we won't be terrorised. It is still one of the safest places on earth and thank you all for so many words of support yesterday. Taken while sitting in a coffee shop by a warm salt water pool in our city, with a long large flat white.

This big Barred owl - a big owl of our wetlands & swamps - swooped into the thick of the wetlands woods we were hiking yesterday - landed fairly close for an owl! And it just stared right at us. A young woman and her dog followed us into the woods and "happened" to be there when the owl swooped in and perched. She told us her dad had recently passed away ... and he loved owls - especially "hoot owls" (Great horned owls). She felt this was a sign from her dad - so I grabbed some quick shaky shots overhead and we moved on so she could get some photos.

North Georgia - this species likes to appear & call in daytime as well as the middle of the night with its eerie calls. It's owl mating & nesting season here and we've been hearing pairs of Great horned owls almost every night and daylight as well. They're nesting near our yard!

A great weekend ahead to everyone! :)

Uma semana feliz a todos.

Happy week for everybody.

remix of yesterday's 'haiku' with new music... / / title stolen from William Empson

Yesterday I attended a great gig, I hadn't seen Panos live for 20 years or so and this was so much worth it.

He sang almost all the great songs he and his brother wrote and also he and his guests sang Rolling Stones and Hendrix and Gallagher...

And then they paid a 30 minutes tribute to Dylan...

Check out how the old rocker plays the guitar:

A handsome cock pheasant seen at Wood Farm yesterday afternoon. This bird was very tame and strutted about in the spring sunshine trying to impress a group of five hen pheasants.

Thank you so much, dear bes~• for your poem and photo and the wonderful inspiration and for letting me use your poem partially as a prompt for this AI digital painting.

"Yesterday is a shadow

in the corner of today,

a ghost that lingers

in the dimming light,

its whispers etched

on the diaries of memory."

Visited Vækker yesterday on my way home from my father. This is a beautiful little place with a few boathouses and some old boats. I like the nature and the sea and I often go to this place when I visit Porsanger. We have a lot more snow in Alta but very soon it is gone.
