This is a sample of a kaleidoscope tessellation requested by, and created for, a friend (Gina) I met here on Flickr. She makes candy wrappers, gift wrap, bookmarks, etc., but her site is no longer online, so I'm not sure where to get her products any longer.

Only sample tiles are available for viewing since I used her original picture instead of one of my own or one from Flickr with a CC license.

Not for Tiles version 1. Prep work for the the future as defined by the roadmap. (planning or designing ahead).

All those gradients on the 'bow' did my nut in...fun though.

A collection of wrapping paper and packing from the 1960s.

This year, instead of traditional "To & From" gift labels, all of the gifts that we gave had a tag with a photo of the recipient. These turned out to be great fun! The kids enjoyed seeing funny pictures of their parents as cool teenagers, older folks enjoyed seeing photos of themselves as a child, and everyone got to see how the whole family has grown up.

I really, really recommend it. I got the templates for the photo gift tags here.

It's kinda neat how the flowers get all white and blown out towards the horizon, so I duplicated the photo and flipped it around to achieve this semi-abstract pattern which works nicely for wrapping paper. In fact, I'm posting the hi-resolution version (normally I post lower-res stuff to flickr) and I'm making this a Creative Commons "ShareALike" license available to everyone to use. Share it with everyone!

I explained in “Christmas No-No Decor” why I had to switch it up this year due to my naughty kittens. We are in the throes of training them…they are just a little hard-headed.Apparently, the motivation from naughty cat-dom was just the challenge I needed. Without spending a dime and using things that I had on hand, I created a whole new fancy look for my mantel this year.

Some wrapping papers from my collection.

The kittens are enjoying their first Christmas! As we prepare dinner, however, they are passed out amongst the piles of bows and wrapping paper -- too much fun tires little kitties out!
