So here I was intently measuring in 16ths the exact center of a pendant so I could attach the bail, when Jake, who is nothing if not enthusiastic about everything, jumps down from the interior window ledge just out of frame, throws himself down, flailing with delight, offering up his belly for a rub, while around him havoc ensues and everything goes flying. Everything!

There is nothing for it but to grab anything critical, laugh, hope for the best...and of course, give Jake a belly rub and a kiss.

An alarm which I very nearly slept through had me 25 minutes behind track, a quick check of weather satellite pictures on my iPad and a glance out of the window into the semi darkness had me dashing downstairs. I had expected to be able to go back to bed but the easterly moving overnight band of cloud had slowed up so that there would be cloud overhead but it would be clearer at the easterly horizon. A mad dash through Lyndhurst was all the more excruciating with a pinky purple glow already coming through the passenger window. I leapt the roadside barriers at Ober Water only 15 minutes before sunrise.

Started something new over the weekend, inspired by a Scott Robertson doodle. The shaping felt good (on the right), so I've moved on to iteration (on the left).

Challenges ahead: I plan to utilize Dark Green for a key color, but the only readily available plate is 2x4. Yikes!

These wrapped figures are only temporarily attached to the canvas: their position in the group can change how the viewer reads their relationship.

The second stage of the preparation of the canvas.

Manipulated in Paint shop Pro

I was given a sheet of magazine scraps which had been applied to a background in a haphazard manner and was asked to use this as a source of inspiration!

I find this sort of challenge VERY difficult as I usually work to an idea, not an image.

After a mild panic I decided to gesso the whole page in an attempt to tone down the images and then I used it to create a folder which I then die cut and embossed.

I then grabbed the scrap bag and started to machine embroider images which started to leap from the page.

This is one sample.

A present. It is called "Illusions of grandeur" and is a mixed media piece.
