In a scene that could date back to the Industrial Revolution (except for the plastic bags), I photographed a blacksmith at work in his market shop, surrounded by the tools of his trade. The Sanliufura market, on the ancient Silk Road, is in a region of Turkey that is called 'The Cradle of Civilization' since archaeological evidence of religious gathering places dates back >10,000 years in nearby Karhantepe and Gobeklitepe.

Yesterday we went to a secluded beach north of Santa Cruz. It was fun climbing over rocks with my friend Jerry Downs to discover new scenes. I caught Jerry in the action of taking a reflection shot of a splashy wave. Time flies when you capture the play of nature!
I processed a soft and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and pulled the curves.

I guess when this earthenware factory was named, around 1675, nobody thought of the possibility that was would one day have this ambiguous name.
The complex is a monument, but cannot be visited, because it is in a dreadful state. And yes, the chimney is really shaped like that.
