“One is not idle because one is absorbed. There is both visible and invisible labor. To contemplate is to toil, to think is to do. The crossed arms work, the clasped hands act. The eyes upturned to Heaven are an act of creation.”

—Victor Hugo, Les Miserables, Volume II, Book VII, Chapter VIII, 1862

Taking a self portrait everyday is the easy part, the difficulty lies within the idea behind 365 unique images.

Once the latest-and-greatest, premier intermodal train power on the BNSF, the Dash 9s have since been demoted to more mundane tasks. Warbonnet #773 is seen at University with USTAEDU5-10A, almost blocking our view of an out-bound grainer leaving Northtown Yard.

Someone must have been proud of this little house once. It has a fancy fence and a vinyl front door. There was an add-on, but it didn't look as interesting as the original house, so a strategic bush blocked it in this photo. Some yard work, shingles, and lots of paint and it would be good to go.

Now that winter has waned I may be one of the few around here to lament that. So here is a shot from a cold day several months back that I like as it captures a bit of everything: the classic local freight, the human element, the interesting interconnected track work, 'heritage' New England colors, and that wintery feel.

After NECR 611 got out of their way headed north the Mass Central Railroad local crew alighted from their single unit to line the switch at the south end of their property to enter the interchange track and swing east down to the small yard to drop off and pick up interchange to/from CSXT on this chilly afternoon. GP38-2 1751 (ex PC 7997 blt 7/72) looks sharp in her Boston and Maine inspired bluebird scheme that has has some historic relevance to a small portion of surving B&M trackage operated by the road though most of the line is comprised of the surviving south end of the former Boston and Albany Ware River branch that reached north from here to Winchendon.

Hi everyone,

I have returned from my time in Kenya and it was a rich and productive time in terms of photography. I'm currently going through thousands of images and will be posting a wide range over time.

For now, I'll leave you with a painted turtle captured earlier this summer.

Have a great weekend everyone!

/@Work with cracking great light today, Enjoy! :-)))

Lots of development work in progress at my backyard. Everyday there is a new scene.

WC train LO-41 is departing up the hill out of Trout Lake with 590 and 582 leading 45 cars on December 18, 1989. The former SOO hi-rail sits in front of the depot on the Gladstone-Soo yard main while 41 occupies the diamond on this cold late afternoon. Engineer Tom has just notched up his power after clearing the diamond and 590 let go with a puff of smoke as it went to work on the grade. The MOW crew is working late on snow removal and I'll soon be getting in the mail truck running a night extra to Sault Ste. Marie with holiday packages. So on this day we were all going to work.

Dr. Jones had finished her early morning surgery and dental cleaning and her first outpatient appointment was waiting for her in the exam room. Things were hopping: boarders checking out after the holidays, appointment book full, receptionist relaying messages from cat owners who had questions, technicians taking care of treatments for hospitalized patients and in the middle of all the activity, Dr. Jones found a moment of peace snuggling with Alex.

he past few months have been mostly about producing higher quality work. This is not very relevant for social media, but I'm obsessed with the idea of scaling up my images for some future projects.

This is a single exposure, fresh from today. Check out the close-up: twitter.com/ericpare/status/1587956945994108928 😱💙🌟

In a scene that could date back to the Industrial Revolution (except for the plastic bags), I photographed a blacksmith at work in his market shop, surrounded by the tools of his trade. The Sanliufura market, on the ancient Silk Road, is in a region of Turkey that is called 'The Cradle of Civilization' since archaeological evidence of religious gathering places dates back >10,000 years in nearby Karhantepe and Gobeklitepe.

Before the northbound Whittier Freight arrived at Brookman I was able to quickly get a shot of the tied down work train with the remnants of a rainbow in the sky. Unfortunately it was very short lived but nice while it lasted.

Subway. 7-42 a.m. I was never very happy from the morning trip to the office. But not now, after so many months of lockdown. I cannot watch TV more,I have read all the books. Back to the office, back to work and back to the Life

Working on the thesis requires lots of coffee. In RL, my desk looks much more messier though...

nettes Gespräch und um Fotoerlaubnis gefragt. Das war ok.

nice conversation and asked for permission to take photos. That was ok.

Although it was -14 Celcius outside, i was able to take some photos, but after a while, it really became to cold to work with my fingers, so i had to put the glove back on after a minute or something like that.

There's a few more folks who "dressed" up for Halloween . . . more to follow . . .

P.S. I actually brought a bottle of Hawaiian Rum (emptied the content of the bottle & filled it half way with soy sauce) and a "drink" with an umbrella topping but it's not pictured. ;-)

Yesterday we went to a secluded beach north of Santa Cruz. It was fun climbing over rocks with my friend Jerry Downs to discover new scenes. I caught Jerry in the action of taking a reflection shot of a splashy wave. Time flies when you capture the play of nature!

I processed a soft and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully adjusted the color balance and pulled the curves.
