The one thing to bloom in early spring in an otherwise dreary landscape is Witch Hazel. I love it's bright yellow color against the drab background.
Here is a target that I have wanted to capture for a long time: IC 2118, better known as the Witch Head Nebula in the constellation of Eridanus, found just to the lower right of Orion. In the image above, the bright star is actually RIgil, or Alpha Orionis, so the constellation border is just below it. This is an extremely faint reflection nebula believed to be an ancient supernova remnant or gas cloud, illuminated by Rigel. It lies about 900 light-years from Earth.

Canon 60D with an Astronomik CLS filter, using a Canon 100-400 F2.8L lens, piggybacked on the KPO Reflector. Focal Length was approximately 200mm.
60 subframes of 120 seconds each, all at ISO 3200, for a total integrated exposure time of 120 minutes (2 Hours).
Captured and stacked in Nebulosity, processed in StarTools, and finished in Aperture.
A group of witches, plus a warlock, traded broomsticks for paddles and standup paddleboards as they took to the waters of the Welland River for a pre-Halloween ride.
No witches were harmed by the water
This is, of course - the Wicked Witch ... My friends tell me I am the meanest person they know ~ so when I saw this today, I couldn't resist getting it for them I just couldn't ... and yes, that is the business end of a big broom the little witch is sitting on ... after further inspection - I can't believe she carries a purse (wearing my shocked face) - of course - as mean as she is - maybe that's where she keeps Dorothy's dog - who knows ...
She's out on the front porch now but last night I hung her in the house because it was so windy outside. She's actually quite a friendly witch when you get to know her.

Supposedly the grave of a witch, Margaret Harper, buried at Seaton Ross, East Yorkshire. How a "witch" came to be buried in a church graveyard is another question.

Witches Cauldron is a geyser along the northeastern banks of the Firehole River in the western Grand Group of Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin. It is an irregularly-shaped, blue water-filled pool about 11 x 8 meters in size. Its activity consists of constant roiling and bubbling with some moderately-low surging.
In 1999, researchers measured the water's temperature at 95 degrees Celsius, with a pH of about 8.2 (= slightly alkaline).
Made Using Nvidia Ansel, while running the game at near max graphical settings, Also using the STLM mod with DNA extreme graphics settings and some LOD mods with parralax mapping.
The Witcher 3 is owned by CD project RED.

11/26/25 - The Witch And The Burro @ Rosebud Theater, Roseburg, Oregon, USA
Ordered a copy of one of my childhood favorites on eBay last week. I had no idea it was brand new and sealed! Sweet. I have that old Warner Bros. cardboard DVD release, so it’s cool to get a copy of the one I rented as a kid. This is a classic, and one of the darkest kid movies out there. I was already into horror at the time, but it definitely gave me enjoyable nightmares. Specifically the beginning, where the little girl is abducted and ends up in the painting. They truly don’t make them like this anymore...which is probably why the youth of today is afraid of and offended by everything.

I love the feeling of this shot.
Punch Brothers set at Elks Park in the town of Telluride was absolutely incredible! They played quite a few of their older songs and some covers along with some new ones. They are absolutely incredible musicians! I had way too much fun taking pictures of them. My sister and I were only about 3 to 5 feet away from them. I love small stages with open seating on the grass. Needless to say I got grass stains. Oh well, they wash out.
Telluride was an awesome experience. A little overwhelming at times, but it was really fun.
