A shot from an adventure to a big abandoned train tunnel that was home to thousands of glow worms (none of which were harmed in the shooting of this photo.)

I always keep an eye on the Aurora "just in case" it ever gets strong enough to see in Jersey. It rarely does, but last night I read that there was a solar flare and a possible geomagnetic storm with a kp index of over 8. In NJ the kp needs to be between 7 and 9 for the Aurora to be visible. I jumped in my car and went to the darkest area I know around here, Collier's Mills. Still have a ton of light pollution, but its the best I can do in my area. I could see faint colors of green and pink in the sky, but wasn't even sure of what I was seeing. The camera picked up more than what I could see. This is the first time I have ever even seen any sign of the Aurora

If you need to fall asleep on a plane, make sure it's not during sunrise or sunset. Because this could happen, and you'd miss it.

Image made with my Nikon F100.

Still the same sunset from my two previous posts, just a little more zoom on the last bit of colour.

I shot this during a really nice sunny (and partly cloudy) day a few days back. I was standing on our small balcony and just couldn't believe how cool the clouds were. I chucked my Contax Zeiss on shot at 35mm f/8.0. A B&W conversion seemed a must and then a few tweaks here and there to the contrast etc. I quite like the result.

On a different tack it feels like the longest day after 12 hours at work. Marking takes it out of you, especially when teaching in between! And people say teachers have it easy....

Беги, всё, что в тебе есть, тебе делает боль

An emerging pinesap flower rises from the needles and detritus like a breath of flame. Oh how I love these elusive wildflowers. OM 90mm at probably f 5.6.

Thought I'd post something besides a bird. Just for a change. I am getting the hang of my new and heavy toy. Monopod. That's the best thing so far. Getting clearer and clearer shots, and can move around for better creativity. Happy.

Summer vacation trip to Almagordo, NM to see the White Sands Monument, a collection of white sand dunes surrounded by some awesome cloud formations due to the rains that kept coming on and off. The cloudy weather kept the temperatures to bearable limits, though!!

Gad, not another scene with so very little substance! I got turned around from my genealogical retouching when I came upon this heavy McIntosh sky. I still keep hammering at retouching images that sit in my Photoshop. Otherwise, I got stuck in McIntosh's great sky shot and found more in my McIntosh edit directory so I will post a series of clouds and sky while I work on a load of other edits. No additiona are made before retouch that is not a Before and After example. These are realtively easy retouches that often use but one layer. At least I got a load of other work done during this series.

I had to wait for the kiddies and moms to clear before capturing this shot above the horizon. The crowd was a bit much for a Friday and even highway #66 seemed overloaded with travelers and RVs probably on their way to overload Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park in early summer. Even in June, RMNP can be overloaded with snow, awaiting the unsuspecting. I appreciated the way the sky was beginning to display in a strange spray on the widest angle shots.

In any case I had planned to trek out here on this Friday when they announced possible showers and when I saw the clouding start, I bailed. This is the McIntosh-Lohr Farm Agricultural Museum on Highway #66, (not the same #66). I had by now dropped everything else. Though the clouding having been absent recently, they really popped the structures today but I still had to wait for the chickens to cross the road before they allowed me passage. Today served up a sprinkle here and they promised 92 the next day. Keep editing in the cool, I guess. I am spending extra time on the best of the captures considering the abundant skies.

I just finished this scalp for my girl Wisp. She looks very very Bellatrix (harry potter) and dark. I love it soooooooo much!!! Came out exactly how I visioned it!!!

The Bridal Veil Falls is just outside Sabie, Mpumalanga in South Africa. It is 146m high.

It is situated just outside Sabie and is accessible by car, with parking and picnic area on SAFCOL's grounds. From there an easy footpath runs through bush scenery for about 1 km (15 minutes' walk) directly to the waterfall.

The sky put on quite a show of delicate wisps which complemented the ox-eye daisies beneath.

I've been back up in Brampton for a couple of days and last night managed to get down to Talkin Tarn for an hour or so to shoot reflections in the lake. I like this one of over-hanging branches - it reminds me of smoke wisping through the air.

I'm about to drive back south now so I won't be able to comment until this evening but before I leave I just wanted to mention that Border Mac is back with style :-)

Some fern stems make for a winter abstract. I'm glad a couple of our local deer didn't walk through it. Their tracks are very close by.
