The view from Wengen to the village of Lauterbrunnen on a cold winternight

..

I have relatively few photographs taken on this date in my archive. A series of photographs from 2013 are more memorable to me for the particular night than anything else. I think this evening, unknown to me at the time, was the last time I saw a movie in a theater.

I walked up and over Capitol Hill to watch the recently released Coen Bros. film Inside Llewyn Davis, which turned out to be a favorite of mine, up at the Harvard Exit, a now-closed movie theater on top of the Hill. In fact there's a recently posted photograph on this stream titled Red Umbrella which was taken just a half block from the theater (it's in the background of that photograph).

The theater was likely only half full that night – it was the late show at 10 PM or so. It was a cold and foggy evening.

On the return walk home, I really enjoyed the surrounding fog and the way streetlights played colors off of it. After I arrived home, very late around midnight, I grabbed my camera, climbed back up the hill, and took a short walk around the surrounding neighborhood trying to capture some of that fog and light.

Another Winters Night photo. Self portrait, shot at ISO 3200 pushed 2 stops, then added a film grain filter PP. I love the grain the D80 produces, here I wanted to bring it out.

Nightshot. This was taken with my little compact-cam stands still on a book in front of the window. You see a Fullmoon winternight
