Star trails taken a few days after the full moon. It was in the middle of the forest, very far from any civilization. Absolutely no artificial light (with the exception of the hut .-)).

A mysterious sun enhanced by spreading ice aureolas was guiding us during our night right back from Snaefellsnes peninsula to our cottage at Medalfells.

When thin clouds pass the moon at night, a corona (aureole) is often seen around the moon.
This luminous phenomenon is caused by diffraction of light on the water droplets or ice particles of the clouds.
A moon with a corona is considered to be the oldest weather sign recorded in writing. It was printed in cuneiform writing on soft clay tablets by the Assyrians as early as 2,700 years ago and left to posterity.
A halo is supposed to indicate treacherous weather in about 24 hours. If you see a lunar corona, like here, the low has already come much closer.

Diese Leuchterscheinung entsteht durch Beugung des Lichts an den Wassertröpfchen oder Eispartikeln der Wolken.
Ein Mond mit Hof gilt als ältestes schriftlich festgehaltenes Wetterzeichen. Es wurde schon vor 2.700 Jahren von den Assyrern in Keilschrift in weiche Tontafeln gedrückt und der Nachwelt hinterlassen.
Ein Halo soll auf einen Wetterumschwung in gut 24 Stunden hinweisen. Sieht man den Hof, wie hier, ist das Tief schon viel näher gekommen.

Wednesday night looking for a place to shutdown I pulled into a rest area about 15 miles West of Badlands Travel Stop in Kadoka SD off I-90. I would have stayed there but no internet, so on to BTS.
But before leaving I noticed some of the trees and liked the way the parking lot light was hitting them. B&W was a no brainer, pretty ugly in color, and had planned on something like what you're seeing now.
Made it to Holland Michigan last night, but delivery appointment now changed to Monday morning. So two paid days at another luxurious truck stop, and Arby's. Not complaining, the weather most of the way here has made driving very tiring. So a couple of days resting and goofing around with pay, heck I'll take it.
The Goðafoss waterfall is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters.
In the year 1000 the Lawspeaker Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði made Christianity the official religion of Iceland. After his conversion Þorgeir threw his statues of the Norse gods into the waterfall.
