The moon breaks through the cloud cover and illuminates the mist as it creeps up the valley. Fifteen minutes later the mist had gone and it was pouring with rain.
"It ain't even cold outside, not where I'm from
Feeling like it's mid-July under the sun
My jacket don't get no love, no hats and no gloves, not even a chance to rain
But my baby's in town and we're gonna do some winter things
Hey-oh, I wanna pretend we're at the North Pole
Turning the heat into an ice cold holiday
Made just for me and my baby
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
My baby's in town and we're gonna do some winter things, hey"

Now winter nights enlarge
The number of their hours,
And clouds their storms discharge
Upon the airy towers.

Like every year when the first snow falls, there was complete chaos on the streets❄️💨❄️
Cars without winter tires, buses and trucks with bad tires slide everywhere and sometimes block the roads for hours.
I got within 5 km of my home by bus. From here I decided to walk home as it was not clear whether the bus would continue or not.
Luckily I was able to walk along the old gravel road, past this farm where you could clearly see the snow swirling in the light of the lamp. 📷
When I finally arrived home after an hour I looked like a snowman. ☃️
But I was still home an hour earlier than people who drove! 😁

On a snowy and frosty evening IC 56 making its way from Oulu to Helsinki at Seinäjoki. Sr2 pantograph giving some sparks due to cold temperature.
On this beautiful day it is a bit hard to try to see the winter storms and long winternights.
The lavas in Snaefellsnes coast are from eruptions long time ago when the shoreline was lower. As the land is now lower than these days the ocean has been breaking down the lava, being porous and rather easily eroded by the water. Some of the rocks standing against the erosion are parts of craters, where the material is harder and more holding. I know too litle in geoglogy to explain them propperly

When twilight lingers on the horizon, the northern lights claim the sky, painting green ribbons across the Arctic night. Mountains cast silent shadows upon the fjord, mirrored in the still waters like a dream suspended between worlds. Stars pierce the darkness, and in this fleeting moment, nature writes its own poetry in light and reflection.
Exposure: 13 seconds | Aperture: f/8 | ISO: 2500.
Long exposure photography is essential for capturing the northern lights and stars in detail. At 13 seconds, f/8, and ISO 2500, the sensor gathers enough light to reveal both the auroras movement and the faint starlight without overexposing the horizon glow. This balance between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO is what transforms a dark Arctic night into a luminous masterpiece.
A conceptual art image based on the book and movie, The Polar Express. Edited from an image I made a few years ago in Old Fort, North Carolina. Merry Christmas y'all!!!

A lone figure walks the icy streets of Lithuania, her umbrella held high against the winter chill. The street is quiet, save for the soft sound of footsteps and the occasional swish of the umbrella cutting through the air.
On these dark and cold winter nights, we all snuggle up on the sofa and watch tv. Rupert, my young male springer spaniel loves his home comforts :-))
