Winter moonlight shines on a lonely stretch of highway in the Blue Ridge Mountains. ...one of the the places I go when I should be in bed asleep.
Five degrees above freezing is not bad for late January winter night, and around midnight is not a bad time for visiting art galleries. Late January 2018.
Taken with Panasonic GX7 camera and Leica DG Summilux 25mm F1.4 lens.
That's Klovićevi Dvori art gallery up there, during annual all-night Night of the museums 2018 event.
Thank you all for pushing this photo to Flickr Explore #297! :)
It’s been a long time since we’ve had this snow here. Nice to look at, but not so great when you have to be on the road… And of course, I have to drive all the way up north today - Ghent, Belgium
i rigged myself up with a new head torch a few weeks ago, its super bright, but gets a bit warm rather quickly
so today they say we are officially out of recession, this is what we do for fun because i cant afford to do the things i used to do. so now i spin wire wool on weekend nights instead.
I`ll believe the recession is over once i get a new job, then i might be able to treat myself to some new lights.
this from a night out with montoff from a few weeks ago

There was plenty of color in the sky this evening but of course I got out there way too late but I was able to get a little touch of color! It was so windy and cold my fingers were frozen!!!
The winter solstice happens every year when the North Pole is tilted farthest away from the Sun, delivering the fewest hours of sunlight of the year.
The shortest day of the year lasts for 7 hours 49 minutes and 41 seconds in Britain, which is 8 hours, 49 minutes shorter than the June Solstice.
The day after the winter solstice marks the beginning of lengthening days, leading up to the summer solstice in June.
In pre-Christian Scandinavia, the Feast of Juul, or Yule, lasted for 12 days celebrating the rebirth of the sun and giving rise to the custom of burning a Yule log.
It was also celebrated by Anglo-Saxon pagans. Druid priests would mark the important date by gathering mistletoe and sacrificing bulls – which was also likely a practical measure to limit the number of mouths to feed during months of famine.
In addition to mistletoe and 12 days of festivities, several Christmas traditions, such as Yule logs and decorating trees, date back to Yule, which were later adopted and adapted by Christians.
