Sheltering from a hefty shower, I investigated some woodland, well, as far as the barbed wire would allow.

Getting this shot didn't go as smoothly as I would like though.

To get to the fence, I had to cross a ditch. No water running in it mind, it was just muddy.

So I put my best foot forward to traverse said ditch, and it promptly went straight out and up in the air. A quick dab with the other foot produced the same result and I now had both feet airborne while I landed on my backside and promptly slid down into the ditch in a terribly undignified manner. Happily, there was no one around to witness my misadventure, but I bet it looked bloody funny!

A blizzard last night followed by light snow and a little sun this morning, heavy snow this afternoon then mist followed by rain! Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Viewed above the western residential block the top of the concrete college bell-tower.

In the foreground, catching the winter light, are two of the beautiful trees which were planted as part of Jacobsen's design for the college gardens.

Local fishponds. Not much activity despite the glorious sunshine.

one of four versions of the photo of this tree--the original was like so many things on the southern plains in the winter--drab and lifeless--doubtless there are things we do not see

Desperately in need of some feathered friends. I pass this tree in Barrington at least 4 times a week hoping one day it will be filled with Eagles. One can wish, right? :) I actually added this to my photo stream because I like the textures and colors in going along with this year's Blizzard theme.

The top of this tree broke off at some point, giving it a sort of eerie look. Adding the black and white HDR effects only accentuated the weirdness.
