Winterland
To watch a life
Its twists and turns
Hoping everything will come
Tomorrow
It´s a quiet place
With hidden hopes and sorrows
But who knows
We might even rule all this tomorrow
A winter land
Everything out there we might own
We´ll let it breath
And try to make all this our home
Let them see
Let everything out, make it glow
What we´ll achieve
We´ll make it shine, really glow, I know
John Alexander Ericson
See yonder leafless trees against the sky,
How they diffuse themselves into the air,
And ever subdividing separate,
Limbs into branches, branches into twigs,
As if they loved the element, & hasted
To dissipate their beings into it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, Collected Poems and Translations
“May the trees of our life, be firmly rooted in the soil of love. Let good deeds be the leaves on that tree. May words of kindness form its flowers and may peace be its fruits.” Amma
Of all the trees in the world
You are my favorite.
Other trees may catch my eye
But you will always stay my favorite.

he got these catching gloves for Christmas and now he wants to throw any chance he can drag eric out ... even if it means after work when the sun and temperature have dropped

WInter lingers on, cold and at times brutal. I made myself a promise to get out and shoot no matter what, and record some of the real winter beauty. I think there is something majestic about bare trees, holding on, waiting for spring, their inner beauty just a promise at the moment. As I knelt down to get this shot by the side of the road, two Mallard ducks flew up straight in front of me from the ditch, nearly knocking me backwards. I didn't get that shot.

This was shot last week during a snowstorm. The challenge is that shooting in these conditions leads to images with very little contrast. Using the tools available in Lightroom allowed me to pull out the details.

This picture was taken in Shenandoah National Park, and it is my MSH entry for "The Same Procedure Every Year". Every year, start with bear limbs and grow beautiful green leaves. Then those leaves turn gorgeous colors and fall off . . . and then, there you are, right back to bare limbs.

"Winter Cardinals - Merry Christmas!" by Patti Deters. A flock of male Cardinals perch in frosty winter trees as if to wish us all a Merry Christmas. It would be rare to see a group of birds like this, and indeed, these are composited for a fun and whimsical seasonal winter scene. The gently rolling hills with the shrubs and and trees covered in hoar frost make the perfect background for the seven (7) red birds. This is also available as a blank or with seasonal greeting words at the links below.
