Winning scores:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

wlwlwldl: 97/100

-Cleanliness: 50/50

I believe he really did a great job applying these decals! The fin was a major plus, whether it was painted or decaled, it was done very very nicely, comparable to even Dutch's infamous fin decal application!

-Detail: 18/20

Based on the Clone Captain from EPII, I looked up a reference image of it. The only reason why he didn't get a solid 20/20 was because there were some red markings behind the helmet, which were not present on the fig. Things that really made this clone a winner was the tiny details, like the small square near the mouth of the helmet, very subtle but very effective details were put into it.

-Presentation: 10/10

Exactly what I want to see with the entries, the picture is a nice, high-quality, non-blurry picture that really shows off the custom!

-Design: 19/20

The templates used are similar to most templates, with the TLC leg design and a wrap-around arm design that is becoming a lot more widespread in use. For this portion of scoring, it's really the helmet decals that really took the cake! The visor decal is, in my opinion, the best part of the fig.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JPO97Studios: 93/100

-Cleanliness: 50/50

The decals on this fig were applied very nicely, all parts of the custom having even, non-crooked application. As always, JPO shows his skilled application through his Hardcase fig!

-Detail: 16/20

Based of of the Season 4 Hardcase, I looked back to my reference pictures taken of this clone. For the most part, JPO had his designs spot on, but points were docked because the details on the back of the helmet were not included. Another small detail that I was really glad to see though was that the line on the fin did not take up the entire space of the fin, as it leaves the edges of the fin white. Little details count!

-Presentation: 9/10

The only reason this isn't a 10/10 is that the background is white, therefore making the fig sort of blend in to the background. This sounds like a really picky statement, but when you think about it, designed or darker backgrounds really portray a contrast, making the fig and all its details stick out. Aside from that, the desired high-quality photo was produced!

-Design: 18/20

Small details overlooked on the template, for example, there are two blue lines over the visor, whereas in the show, there was only one line directly over the visor. Aside from that, the rest of the design is great, you can always tell a custom belongs to JPO from this signature torso design!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xero_Fett: 90/100

-Cleanliness: If any of you have seen Xero_Fett's stuff, you'll notice that he is very good at applying decals, always getting the decals spot-on and as even as can be. This figure is no exception to that!

-Detail: 16/20

I couldn't give a solid 20 because this is another person's template, but credit was given. Score was bumped up a bit, however, because he added some details on the back of the helmet, making the fig more accurate to the actual clone!

-Presentation: 10/10

The unique background Xero_Fet uses always makes the fig stand out and really show off its colors! You are easily able to see the quality of the photo (huge image size!)!

-Design: 15/20

For those who used other peoples' decals, the score was usually automatically set to 15/20 under presentation and details (depending if the decals you used are accurate). I can't give a solid 20 for these categories, because the design is someone else's, but as stated in the rules if you use another's design, you have a bit of a lower chance at winning. Xero_Fett really managed to get a good score on this fig with his excellent application and presentation though!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to congratulate everyone who entered, there were some pretty close scores (a few of you got scores in the upper 80's)! If you didn't win this time, don't get discouraged! There'll be another contest hopefully in the spring, so you can try your skills again through there! To the winners, your excellent customs have earned the prizes, which will be shipped to you all within the next two weeks. Just let me know your addresses via FM and you're prizes will be shipped asap! Thanks to all who participated!

Some little time ago I presented here at Flickr a photo of a young Gothia Cup football player with a fancy hairstyle. Photo named "I came to win". And there is more to come as you can see in the photo above. Looks like this whole Palestine team of boys go to the same hair stylist...

Now; young people love to resemble their favourites. So there should be a famous football player in a team somewhere with this haircut. I don't know who it is but some of my friends here are sports fans. I hope someone of you has the answer! Please!

Oh, I almost forgot: They are good at this sport and have just scored. Power from their hair like biblical Simson, maybe :-)

Today, award-winning musician James Morrison, visited his local food bank in Stroud, Gloucestershire to lend a hand, packing emergency food parcels and chatting to the local community.

The visit comes as anti-poverty charity the Trussell Trust revealed that food banks in its network provided more than 2.1 million emergency food parcels to people across the UK over the past year, in new statistics published yesterday

More than 830,000 parcels were provided for children as families struggle following the £20-a-week cut to Universal Credit and the soaring rise in living costs.

The soul singer, who rose to fame with his debut single ‘You Give Me Something’, told staff and volunteers at Stroud District Foodbank how he himself had experienced poverty when he would often go to school hungry

He said: “I know what it’s like to go without - it’s something I can really relate to. My mum was a single mum and a nurse and she did everything she could but with three of us, there just wasn’t enough money to have three meals a day.

“We often went without breakfast and free school meals got me through. I still rarely eat breakfast and can go without food for long periods of time because of my childhood. It’s played a huge part in who I am because I know how it feels to not have enough.”

He said if his family had received a food parcel it would have been a huge help, but that the situation was a ‘double-edged sword’, because food banks ‘should not need to exist’.

“It’s not right that so many people are having to come to the food bank for help. It’s shocking how many people do not have enough money to be able to feed their families,” he said.

“I want people to know this centre is here. People can come and get help – but also come and support, volunteer and donate and do anything they can to try and help end this situation, because it’s not sustainable how many people do not have enough to eat, in our country.”

Food bank manager, Amanda-Jane Strover, welcomed James and said it was important to highlight the impossible situations many people across the country were facing as they experience financial hardship. She said her food bank had seen an increase in the need for support in recent months

“It’s been absolutely wonderful having James here today. He understands the situations people are facing. We have given 500 different people food parcels this month and we are hearing from more and more people needing help,” she said.

Stroud District Foodbank is part of a network of over 1,300 food bank centres supported by the Trussell Trust, which provide emergency food to people locked in poverty and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

James is encouraging people to sign a petition to help end the need for food banks, supported by the Trussell Trust, Independent Food Aid Network and Feeding Britain network.

And really, it feels great!! On Monday, The City of Toronto hosted the evening reception for the winning photographers at City Hall and the event was excellent and exciting experience to remember and be proud of.

On this photo, you see (from left to right) Mayor David Miller, shaking my hand and congratulating me, Katrin Ray :-), and City Manager Joe Pennachetti. During the awarding, a photo of a winner was displayed on the scene's background, as you see here is my photo above :-)

It was the Roadrunners first win over the Cardinals in the Icardo Center since Feb. 10, 2013.

For the first time this season, No. 22 Stanford dropped a dual, falling 20-13 at CSU Bakersfield.

The Cardinal (6-1, 0-1 Pac-12) won just four of the 10 bouts against the Roadrunners (5-7, 2-1 Pac-12), snapping its six-dual winning streak.

Air power came to the fore in World War II, and a certain number of airplanes ultimately tipped strategic balances. Britons revere the memory of the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane for their Battle of Britain roles that saved the nation from Nazi invasion. In the bitterly fought Pacific campaign, a less glamorous aircraft blunted the Imperial Japanese samurai sword, halting the Rising Sun’s advances that had seemed inexorable until the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The Douglas SBD Dauntless ultimately paved the way for the full roll-back of Imperial Japanese war aims, but wasn’t an obvious candidate for such a heroic status. Officially the SBD designation stood for ‘Scout Bomber Douglas’, but the popular nickname of ‘Slow But Deadly’ sums up the scout/dive bomber’s abilities.

The supreme achievement of Douglas SBD Dauntless was to wipe out at a single stroke the Imperial Japanese Navy’s aircraft carrier force, their bombs taking to the bottom of the sea the very vessels from which the ‘Day of Infamy’ Pearl Harbor attack had been launched. Historians and strategists recognise this battle as the tipping point in the Pacific War, the Japanese forces never being able to recover from their losses.

Chicago’s Midway Airport (MDW) honours that 1942 battle, and features a surviving Douglas SBD as part of a display that commemorates the battle. It was an expensive battle in terms of lives lost, with US casualties totalling around 307, while the Japanese lost 3,057 killed. It is worth pausing a moment when passing through MDW to pay homage to those lost lives.
