I started building a Windows XP virtual machine in VMware Fusion on my new MacBook Pro the other day. My 21-month old son Jimmy was really excited when he saw it and came running over, pointing, and saying "La-la, la-la".
Suddenly I realized he thought the "Bliss" background was Teletubbyland....

This Polar Infrared Interface USB that many people got with their Polar S-Series heart rate monitors is a USB 1.0 device. I've been trying to use it without success on my MacBook Pro with Polar Precision Performance Software running under Windows XP SP3 on VMware Fusion.

Internet Explorer 7 (Windows XP) and Safari running side-by-side thanks to the latest version of Parallels Desktop for Mac and it's new Coherence feature.
A few hours after I got home today my computer randomly shut itself down. I spent the last 7 hours reinstalling Windows and all the various drivers and programs I use.
I managed to save most of my pictures.
Your computer performance can be improved by disabling some services. Remember, AVG PC Tuneup 2011 allows all changes to be undone. Tool provides you also direct link to the FileInspect, where you can learn more about particular service on your list. This gives you more confidence in your decision making process regarding which services to keep and which to disable. Utility is also providing several predefined computer profiles, so you can easily chose the one that is the best for you and apply all necessary settings at once.

Ok so it's not so new but I took this pic when it was new.
Let's see.. 900MHz Pentium M cpu w/2GB DDR2-800 RAM, 4gb solid-state HD and 16gb SDHC card. All for around $580. (the core machine was $399 without the SDHC card and only 512MB ram)
I love this machine coz it's so easy to take around and runs ALL Windows apps.. the resolution is a bit small but it fits the bill. I got my Macbook pro 17" for 1650x1080 res but it's a royal bitch to lug around.

This is the wallpaper of my default CART (Communication Access Realtime Transcription) profile, which I use when transcribing classes or other events in realtime for Deaf and hard of hearing clients. I used TweakUI to make this profile load automatically unless I hold the shift key down while booting up. So my clients will only ever see a clean, icon-free desktop, and then when I go home to edit the transcripts, I can hold down shift and boot into my transcription desktop , which has all my files and shortcuts arranged for easy access. This wallpaper is also useful in explaining how my steno machine works, when curious onlookers come up and ask me what that weird-looking keyboard thing is for.
I was taking a lot of screenshots when I was moderating for J!NX Forums. I saved a bunch and thought I should upload them here for posterity sake.
Two monitors... I was particularly productive as a mod when I had these two 17" monitors setup.
When you see this screen, as I did a few days ago, it's definitely not good news! I'd backed up some my data but not most of my 8000 photos:( Fortunately, many of the better ones (okay not this one) are stored on Flickr. I'm still waiting to hear if my HD can be recovered...
UPDATE: Thanks to a savvy nerd, 100% of my data was rescued:) WindowsXP wasn't salvageable however.

actually... I think I'm a geek rather than a nerd.
I do collect comics though... and some of my action figures are cherry.
And it's got to be Kirk... you can see me leaning that way.

oh.. and I installed ubuntu to dual boot with windowsXP on my laptop tonight... Impressed with it so far... will see how it goes.
