Taken for two of Our Daily Challenges: predictable and disturbing (April showers are certainly predictable and disturbing (to me anyways, I am not a fan of lots of rain lol)

Listening to the rain hitting my window this morning made me think of this Creed song "Rain". We are supposed to have a wet and rainy week but it's a good thing that rain doesn't last forever... April showers bring May flowers....right??? There needs to be some payoff for this shitty weather! ;)

Also taken for Window Wednesdays. HWW!

One of the interesting windows in the infamous Winchester mansion. Most of the creative touches in the house involved the occult and the number 13 being that their aim was to confuse restless spirits of those killed by the Winchester rifle...

If I had posted this on the 13th,I might have angered a few of those spirits....Happy window Wednesday all!

I was trying to think of a clever title for this photo, and came up with a few that were okay, but then I wondered what the name of that rich red colour was. Maybe that would give me something inspired and interesting to say. I searched all kinds of colour and paint tools, but ended up at...lo and behold, wikipedia. Visually, the closest colour match in their list was named...Barn Red. Imagine that! Sometimes simple is best. :)

According to the literature I procured at the visitor center, Abó was a thriving community in the Salinas valley about 300 years ago. Spaniards got there in 1581. Between Apache raids and drought and famine, the peoples left there between 1672 and 1678 to go to towns along the Rio Grande.

We were walking through the streets of Versailles on our way to see the Palace and I happened to look up at the windows above the shops and saw these little faces...

A little attic window.

I shot this in Montreal as I came up from some underground. I don’t remember where, wasn’t even sure when, but I do remember it was cold and I was happy to be inside. I came home from that trip with cold burn on my cheeks. Still have the scar to prove it. Just to make myself not feel so bad, I’m saying the scar gives me extra character. Do wish I’d stop adding extra character to my face though!

I actually had my dear friend, James (from Liverpool) in mind when I took this shot, as there was more *workshop* than antiques inside! A workbench and some tools are set up outside to the right, but I wanted to crop this for Window Wednesday! Anyhoo . . . dream on, James! Let's think of a name for your space!

How do you like James' Cellar? LOL!

Just out for our allowed one hour of exercise outside, having a walk around a deserted Newark and came across this notice in a little beauty shop window!

A lot better than the usual, curt “Closed due to Government orders”!

Oh! And no window cleaners for six weeks! Home or business!

Some of you may remember a previous image with the two little faces in the window - this shop was across the street from them and you can see their pink building with the old shutters in this reflection.

Do as the window says....HAVE FUN!

Modern office development riverside on the River Trent at Newark. Always thought it to be quite attractive but been thinking of two potential problems.

First, the building catches the afternoon sun, when we have any, but no sign of any blinds to reduce the glare for anyone working there!

And two, outside there is a very thin balcony so how would they get a ladder up to clean those windows in the uppermost sections?

Answers please on a postcards to.................!

Wanted to get the old part of the building in, as well as the new addition. This has changed hands so many times and every change has ended in yet another closed business.

I wanted a shot of the "Unconditional Surrender" statue downtown, but I didn't know from which POV until I saw this. I liked the skyline in the background and it gives the statue perspective. Sarasota's bayfront is behind me.

It turned out to be an eventful trip. I was rebooked on an earlier flight because my original flight was delayed. I would have missed my connection in San Jose. I made it on schedule to Portland (where it wasn't raining), but my bags didn't make it. I'll be returning to the airport today for my bags and a $200 voucher for a future flight.

Took a road trip up to Gainesville, FL for hiking at Paynes Prairie State Preserve and biking on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail. Took a lunch break in the quaint little town of Micanopy. 187 yr old city is the oldest inland city in FL and has been famous for its charming antique stores and cafes. It is also the location of the filming of the movie Doc Hollywood.
