The exterior of the Midnight Kitchen scene - the windows are translucent so that light can shine through which gives a realistic effect. We made this scene so that with a portable roof dropped onto it, a standard base with stones painted on it and pine trees set up around it, it could be placed on its own or with a group of similar scenes in a space such as a shopping centre mall without much set up required.

Designed and made by StudioM at our studio - copyright 2003 held.

Same shot as the other one but with the main lights on as well as the internal shop lights for the Candy Store and Christmas Shop. Good to see it both ways

A loss of San^atea on the job. It's very important to use safe jacking techniques under cars. The ice and the elves are hanging around the car. When put in motion, the puppets can move up and down as they are connected by fishing lines to rotating cams on a rotating shaft from above the scene. Designed and made by StudioM at our Home studio. Copyright held. AFTER it was built, the scene was sold to an animation and Promotions company, which added the mechanism above this scene to put in motion. Claims by this company and its director to be the 'creative force' and the 'mastermind' behind it are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of StudioM's copyright. Displayed many times with this false claim having been made.

This is a scene designed and drawn by StudioM in Dec 2005 for a suggested display for the Cadbury Factory in Dunedin. Copyright RGM StudioM 2005. StudioM later made these scenes to these drawings at our workshop in Feb 2006 for use in the Cadbury Factory in Dunedin in 2006 by a promotions company.

Making the Easter eggs is a very elfy business. Putting chocolate into moulds and joining them together with sticky tape or bandaids. Putting the egg into the 'Creme Eggs', making the fruity creme interiors, spinning the chocolate in moulds, dropping nuts into chocolate to coat, a busy factory of workers working to the music played by the musical elf, Wulfenite, while the mechanical elf, Zirconia, plays with his tools and the egg mould spinning thing. These Magical Elves, their names and personalities are as shown on the Cadbury website and on Cadbury's Magical Elves products which we wanted to include as part of Cadbury's already known products. All original sketches and drawing as shown/ ideas / storyline and copyright for scene held by StudioM - copyright and moral rights held.

perfect interior design and perfect shopping experiance.

two repurposed vintage gas station "8's" were hand painted with white acrylic, epoxied together, then finished with glitter acrylic. A king size vintage turquoise bed spread sourced off craigslist is cute to size and antique gold tassel trim added. I broke TWENTY needles trying to manipulate this fabric with my machine. This lovely piece will adorn my studio wall once it's tour in the storefront is done. :)

Had to take these photos - the idea of framing an image within a camera, within a reflection, within a frame, within a frame, within a window frame, in a framing shop was irresistible!

Bear stuffing, sewing, painting, glueing, sawing, hammering, squeezing paint in vice, flying a kite and racing with bottom in air. So much going on. The blackened chimney sweep elf can just be seen emerging from out of the chimney on doll's house. This is the first workshop scene StudioM designed and made at our home workshop in the Tinbeerwah/ Cooroy hinterland. An animation and Promotions company, which added some motion into the scene by inserting overhead a mechanism involving a motorised rotating shaft with cams attached. The cams rotate on the shaft and are connected by fishing lines to objects below, as shown. These objects move slightly as the cams turn creating a gentle up and down motion. The company has exhibited it widely since buying the scene as a promotional tool for the company. All original drawings, sketches and instructions to doll maker, are held by StudioM as the copyright holder, designers and creators of the scene.

This cheeky elf has been sent out of class for time out. I later added a bucket of soapy water to his hands so that he looks as if he is about to tip it over the guys below. This was done after the photos were taken but BEFORE it was sold to a Promotions company which has exhibited the scene widely through various media. However, claims by this company and its director to be the creative force and mastermind behind it are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyright. The promotions company had no creative input into the scene as seen here.

Scene designed and made by StudioM 2004. All original works, sketches, designs etc held by StudioM. Although the scene was sold there was no transfer of copyright. Copyrights remain with the creators and designers.

Juanita Wellings made elf to our specifications

StudioM also commissioned her to make the Professor to our drawings and specific instructions to his construction.

Yay, Neon Camera!! I love it when you are on during daytime.

I used to get my ridiculous amounts of film developed here, before I got my digital camera. They are a great place, and very nice here. However, I have spent an obscene amount of cash there over the years.

The workshop's supervising elf realises the mistake when the torn halves of both plans are put together. Yes... those silly elves have made a half plane, half car and are trying to mash both halves together.

Meanwhile...one mouse is rolling a tyre up and down a track and squashing the mouse underneath who moves automatically with the tyre movement. The mouse in the teapot pops his head up and down. The mouse with one hand on the handle of the battery pushes it up and down easily with his other hand on his hip. All designed to be moved by simple tugs on fishing lines attached to the moving parts and connected to cams through a rotating shaft at the top.

Designed and made by StudioM at our workshop in Cooroy/Tinbeerwah hinterland. Moral rights/ copyright held RGM StudioM. After this photo was taken, the scene was sold to an animation and promotions company which had a rotating shaft /cam mechanism inserted overhead to allow some simple up and down motion of the parts in the scene below, together with lighting. It has been exhibited many times since by this company, but any claims by the company and its puppeteer director to be the 'mastermind' and 'creative force' behind this scene are false, misleading and against copyright laws.

Santa's dummy has needed many extensions over the years around the tummy line and with the tape measure stretched to full capacity, the elfy tailors have a hard time.

It has been exhibited through various media since this photo but any claims by parties other than StudioM to being its creator, 'the mastermind' and 'creative force' behind it, are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of copyright.

The car workshop dept in Santa's World at the North Pole. Lots of elfoil, elbow grease and hoisting going on, plus a loss of San^atea.

The first sketch of the design I did for a Christmas display which went into the Brisbane office window of Qantas in Christmas 2002. Designed by RGM StudioM 2002. Looking at the word Qantas upside down I made the connection with Santa - remove the 'Q' and replace with the 'S' on the end and you have 'SANTA' - hence the design had an elf doing just this. The original design had an elf placing antlers on the Flying kangaroo on the plane's tail. Santa has had trouble so Qantas is saving Christmas by giving Santa a plane to use to deliver the toys. A hand above is giving the keys to the elf in the foreground to fly the plane. As Santa has broken down close to Longreach the town where Qantas has its origins, it was befitting to set it in the outback with the Longreach connection. Designed by Studio M and the scene we made at our StudioM workshop at Tinbeerwah in October 2002 for use by a promotions company in the Qantas Brisbane office. Copyright held as is all original material.

The 7 largest heads for the front row. Click on comment to see photo taken of them as they were set in DJ's window. Again these were modified slightly with some getting new nylon realistic wigs and a whitewash. We personally prefer the originals as charactures rather than the washed out mediocre version that appeared.

The emergency candles to go on the side of the sleigh to help get Santa through the fog - windproof of course. Scene designed and made under contract by RGM of StudioM at their Tinbeerwah home studio for a promotions company, employed by David Jones for the first time in 2006. Puppets were made by Juanita Wellings at her home in Clifton, posted to StudioM for positioning and securing into the scene.

Santa has his own dummy at the tailor shop but as Santa's middle measurements grow every year his dummy has to have new extensions sewn on, to accomodate his expanding girth.

The Sudsomatic scene which was the first of many scenes designed and made at the StudioM workshop. The confused elf has answered the iron and continues ironing with the phone - hence the red ear. The elf in the back has the idea to use the irons as skates for more fun. The hole through the jacket explains the iron which lies sunken into the floor below. The flat mouse in the pocket of Santa's longjohns has just been squeezed through the wringer, whilst another elf administers first aid in the form of a tyre pump. This was one of the first two scenes which I made at our StudioM workshop. Designed and created by StudioM 2002 at our studio Cooroy/Tinbeerwah - see the sketch for the scene. The scene was sold to an animations and promotions company. It has been displayed many times and is still a favourite of ours. Copyright held by StudioM. All original sketches, drawings and specifications are retained by StudioM along with copyright.

Juanita, a dollmaker, made elves in Clifton.

Attributions to the designers and creators in the car factory scene - as it left the StudioM workshop with attributions to those responsible clearly seen by the public. The scene was designed and made by StudioM at our home studio in Tinbeerwah and later sold to a Promotions and animation company. It was later exhibited and featured on their website with the attributions as shown in photo masked out and the books turned around away from the public eye. Any claims by this company or its director to being its 'creator', 'the mastermind' or 'creative force' behind it are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyright. All original drawings, sketches and written specifications to sub contractors for the puppets used are retained by StudioM along with copyright.

Suddenly it starts coming together after weeks of work. It is great

when all the individual pieces you have been working on for so long

are put together for the first time and you can see the end result ahead. The original design we did that DJ's approved had an escalator with people moving down. This was meant to have a revolving belt with vertical people cut outs going around and around on a motorised conveyor belt but the animation company were nervous about making it and so we had to redesign the scene to include a staircase. After a lot of deliberation we were happy to do it as a partial staircase as shown, but the escalator and the movement would have looked better.
