The scene from the right side, taken in our small workshop. Designed and made by StudioM in 2004 at our workshop. A Christmas Eve traditional scene for a shop window. Santa is on a roof at the back on left side. The elves are playing instead of helping. One has taken the display candy sticks from the front off the shop roof to ski down the Candy Haus. The scene was sold after this photo was taken to a promotions company which created some simplistic animation by inserting a rotating shaft and cam mechanism overhead - a commonly used method in scenes like these to allow for simple up and down motion. It has been displayed many times by this company but any claims by the company or its puppeteer director to being the scene's creator, 'the mastermind' or the 'creative force ' behind it are COMPLETELY FALSE, deliberately misleading and an infingement of StudioM's copyright. The scene has recently been displayed displayed many times and lately in Christmas 2011 at the Enchanted Forest at Smith and Caughey's store in Auckland NZ, albeit it has been changed and altered. As the designers and creators of the scene, StudioM retains copyright along with all designs, specifications and original drawings.

Juanita, a dollmaker from Clifton Qld, made mice and elves to my specifications and design drawings of mice. Original drawings, sketches and specifications retained by StudioM as are the copyrights for the scene.

The elfy catering company will readily come to your house to cook. However, don't expect this elfy lot to clean up after themselves.

The scene designed and created by Studio M. Copyright 2005. Photographed at StudioM's home workshop premises in 2005 before its sale to an animation and Promotions company, which has exhibited it widely since. However, subsequent claims by anyone other than StudioM to being 'the creator', 'the mastermind' or 'creative force' behind it, are completely false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of copyright. Attributions to StudioM as the designer and creator of the scene are written on the green book on the mantle to the right of this scene.

All original drawings/ sketches and specifications remain with StudioM as does copyright.

Juanita Wellings made puppets to our specifications and mice to our drawings and design.

This group was the original back row of the DJ choir that StudioM made but not all got into the final scene and those that did were dulled down by the promotions company to conform with its preference for mediocrity. StudioM and others thought they were a humorous group of charactures to display the many diverse personalities and faces from within a dept store and make up a choir of marionette retailers. We wanted them funny and looking like gaudy marionettes as shown here, and inspired by the Mrs Sloakims type from 'Are you being served?' and were very pleased with our result especially compared to when they were transformed later in a poor attempt to make them 'realistic' looking. In our original design and concept we specified them to be obvious marionette characters which is what we accomplished. These looked so much better before their 'dulling down' process and were enjoyed by many who saw them in our StudioM studio as shown here.

Oh no! Watch the hair!! Egg whites and anything else including egg shells go into the making of white Christmouse. One elf is flattening the poor mouse so he can be coated with the gooey concoction.

Designed and made by StudioM at our workshop in Cooroy/Tinbeerwah hinterland. Moral rights/ copyright held RGM StudioM. Attributions to the designer and creator StudioM is written on the green book on shelf above the fireplace to the right side of this photo. This should still be visible and unchanged -- if not.... it is an infringement of copyright. AFTER this photo was taken the scene was sold to a promotions and animation company which added some simplistic up and down motion to it by inserting a rotating shaft and cam system above the scene and connecting fishing lines between the cams and objects below to cause a slight rise and fall movement as the cams rotate - a commonly used method. It has been exhibited widely since but any subsequent claims by this company or its puppeteer director to being 'the creator', 'the mastermind' or the 'the creative force behind it' are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyright. They saw the scene for the first time after this photo was taken. Original drawings, sketches, specification notes to the dollmaker are retained by StudioM along with copyright.

I'm so happy with this eco-eonscious retail display!!! I spent over 30 hours sewing, painting, and producing the items that are included in this carnival celebration window, and it took more than 5 hours to install!!! The vintage velvet valance was created from a king sized bedspread sourced from craigslist, the red and white curtains from yard sales in Lake City, MN, the gas station 8's sourced from a flea market in Elko, MN, and the vintage gold tassel trim from an antique store in Duluth, MN!!! The felt banner handmade from felt scraps and thrift sourced binding!!!!

Click on photo-the books tell the true story. The first of a few scenes with this theme that I made and which went to the USA on a promotional tour.

The mice have invaded the house at midnight and are enjoying Santa's treats and the presents. I titled the scene 'It's e/very m/nice to get presents' - a later scene similar was titled 'The presence of Mice'. Designed and created by Studio M at our little workshop. Copyright held StudioM.

Juanita, a dollmaker from Clifton, successfully made mice to our design, drawings and specifications and elves to our specifications. Correct attributions of credits to her and StudioM are on the books on the mantlepiece as shown. The scene was sold, without copyright transfer, to a Promotions company AFTER this photo was taken, which added some simple up and down motion to the scene - they put in a simple overhead mechanism involving a rotating shaft with irregular shaped cams that were connected to objects below by fishing lines - as the cams rotated with the shaft, the lines would rise and fall creating a slight movement below. Very basic and simple method to add some simple motion to the scene and a method that is commonly used. Claims by parties other than StudioM to be the 'mastermind' and the 'creative force' behind this scene and our other scenes on this site are COMPLETELY FALSE, misleading and an infringement of our copyright. The red book on the shelf gives the true attribution to the designers and creators of this scene - StudioM.

Juanita Wellings in Clifton made the mice and Santa's head to our drawings and specifications as well as the elves which aren't seen in this photo. All original artwork, specifications and design sketches are held by StudioM along with copyright.

The plane car scene showing the ingenious efforts of the simple elves to construct Santa's request, albeit all wrong - half a car and half a plane. The book behind the crate has attribution to the true designers and creators - Studio M and the puppetmaker Juanita - and can be seen in other photos very clearly. The scene was sold to a promotions company which animated the scene simply with an overhead rotating shaft and cam system. This is a commonly used system for simplistic and gentle up and down motion. The company had no creative input into the scene as seen here and saw it for the first time as it is photographed. The signs giving this credit should still be there and visible to the public as shown. Copyright Studio M 2005. Scene designed and made by StudioM at our Tinbeerwah workshop. Subsequent claims by parties other than StudioM to being the scene's creator, 'the mastermind' and the 'creative force behind' this and all of the other scenes shown on this site are COMPLETELY FALSE, deliberately misleading and an infringement of copyright.

DA - which colour is it for going up - yellow or green ? One of the workshops designed and made in StudioM Tinbeerwah/Cooroy workshop . Copyright and credits to StudioM clearly shown on books under flattened mouse. Scene sold to a Promotions company AFTER this photo was taken at our workshop. It has been exhibited by this company in various places. Any claims by this company and its director to be the creative force and mastermind behind it are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyright. The attributions to StudioM as the designer and creator should still be visible in this scene by copyright law.

The village scene that StudioM designed and created in our small home studio and workshop at Tinbeerwah in the Noosa Hinterland. This shop and its shop front are removeable within the scene to allow access for maintenance. The roof is open at the back to allow for some lighting and for air movement. This is one of many scenes that were sold to a promotions company specialising in puppetry and animation. The promotions company added a simple mechanism overhead to provide some gentle, repetitive, up and down motion to the scene using a rotating shaft with cams that are attached by fishing lines to objects below the scene, thus causing a slight up and down movement with each rotation of the shaft and cams. Claims by the promotions company to having created it, been 'the mastermind' and 'the creative force' behind it are COMPLETELY FALSE, deliberately misleading and an infringement of StudioM's copyright.

Juanita Wellings made the mice to our design and instructions and the elves also to our drawings and specifications. All original sketches, drawings and instructions are retained by StudioM along with copyright.

The 'Ding a Ling Inn', David Jones 2006 Jingle Bells scene, with the sign stating its proprietor, Isabelle Ringing - lots of small notes relating to bells and jingling were scattered throughout this scene depicting the famous carol 'Jingle Bells' and occupying one of the Market Street windows in David Jones 2006 Christmas windows. StudioM designed and created the six window scenes under 2 seperate contracts at their home workshop for a local promotions company which was employed by David Jones for the first time to install the window displays.

Juanita in Clifton made them to my design drawing and specifications. Some are loading the sleigh on the right side of the scene whilst the others are getting Rudolph ready for his 'big night out'.

Designed and made by StudioM at our workshop in Cooroy/Tinbeerwah hinterland. Moral rights/ copyright held RGM StudioM. Just as fast as Santa and his elves can deliver the presents under the tree, the mice, who think the presents are meant for them, are quickly moving in and making the most of the situation.

Designed and created by Studio M at our home workshop in Tinbeerwah. Copyright held. Photo taken at StudioM workshop before it was sold to a Promotions company which added some gentle up and down motion by inserting a rotating shaft and cam sytem above the scene and attaching strings to the rotating cams and objects below. Subsequent claims by this company and its puppeteer director to being the "creator', the 'creative force' and the 'mastermind' behind the scene are COMPLETELY false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyright. They had no input into the scene's creation to this stage, apart from providing an aluminium frame. Books on the mantle to left of scene, which are seen in other photos, state the credits to the true designer and creator and legally should still be visible and unchanged unless copyright has been abused.

Juanita Wellings made elves and.............the mice and Santa's FACE ONLY to my drawings and specifications. All original sketches, drawings and instructions are held by StudioM with copyright.

At Santa's workshop the elves have been working to a set of working drawings which have been torn in half. Consequently half are making a car and the other half are making a plane. They have joined their efforts together to find they have made a 'plane car'. The elf on the left at bottom has just woken up to the mistake.

Photo taken at our studio BEFORE the scene's sale to an animation and promotions company. It has been exhibited and promoted widely and on the internet since. Claims by this company and its puppeteer director to being the scene's 'creator', 'the creative force' or the 'mastermind' behind it are not only COMPLETELY false but an infringement of our copyright held by RGM StudioM.

The 'Jingle Bells' scene from the David Jones Christmas windows 2006 in the making outside our small workshop. StudioM was contracted to design and make these scenes for an animating company, to provide the original design sketches and presentation drawings plus the working drawings given to mechanics to make the steel structure under the sleigh to allow it to wobble easily with a pull of an overhead string, and the sliding sardine tin for the mouse in a section to the right of this section. There are 4 sections making up this scene. Each is designed to be carried individually and then joined together when placed into the widows. We made the snowman to wobble easily as well as he has a spring system on two wooden plates across his middle inside to allow this. Unfortunately when we placed the snow layer into the scene it restricted some of this movement.

Taken at the workshop of designer and scene creator, StudioM in 2006.

This mouse has his hands over his ears as he cannot stand the the continual jingling - probably reflects the feelings of most of the viewers on the other side of the glass having to listen to the ongoing, annoying barrage of "Jingle Bells" being sung from the choir on the loudspeakers, as they view the David Jones Christmas windows in 2006 or just pass by. The mouse as designed in our original presentation drawings and made by Juanita Wellings in Clifton as per designs and drawings of such by StudioM.

Even elves need to learn and at the North Pole the young elves are taught all the things they need to know to be good helpers for Santa. Prof Bumbledelf is the teacher. Scene designed and created by StudioM 2004 at our workshop - displayed many times since we sold it to an animation and puppet company. We made a few later additions after this photo was taken and prior to its sale. Photographed at StudioM workshop in the Tinbeerwah/Cooroy hinterland. Copyright held by StudioM. The Elfy School scene was designed and made by RGM of StudioM at our small home workshop. It was sold to a promotions company which installed a rotating shaft and cam system overhead to give some very simplistic up and down motion to the scene - this is a commonly used method of animation for such scenes. It has been widely exhibited and many aspects of the scene have been poorly copied. Subsequent claims by the company and its puppeteer director to being its 'creator', 'the mastermind' or 'the creative force' behind the scene above are COMPLETELY FALSE, dishonest, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyright. Twas the night before Xmas and not even a mouse.. Poor Santa stuck in the chimney, the elves delivering the present s and the mice who live along the rafters are overjoyed at the new gifts. Taken from the right side of the scene. The books on the mantle with attributions to the designers and creators as titles were added later. See other photo where they are seen clearly. Designed and made by StudioM in our Tinbeerwah workshop in 2003. The one with the lying rodent..

After Senator Brandis's statement calling John Winston a 'lying rodent' and the subsequent media coverage, with Bill Leak's continual cartoons for months of a Prime minister with a distinct rodent look and long tail emerging from underneath a suitcoat, I could not resist asking Juanita to make a JWH rodent, complete with glasses and eyebrows, to use in a scene. However we have since renamed him as there seem to be more lying rodents around. Nearby, the hovering mouse desperately wants to be the angel at the top of the tree. Reflections in the bauble reveal identities i.e. me in all my working gear glory taking the photo after I completed the scene at StudioM's workshop.

Scene designed and made by StudioM at our Tinbeerwah/Cooroy home studio. AFTER this photo was taken, the scene was sold to a Promotions company which put in some simple up and down motion. The company inserted above the scene, a system of a rotating shaft with cams to which fishing lines have been attached to various objects below, eg the suitcase handle, allowing a simple move up and down with each rotation of the cam on the shaft. The scene has been exhibited many times by this company. Any subsequent claims by the promotions company or its director to be the 'creative force' and 'the mastermind' behind it or to having any input into the original creation of the scene as it appears in these photos, are completely false, deliberately misleading and an infringement of our copyrights.

It requires a lot of ingenuity to make a car plus lots of elfoil, paint and many helping hands. The mouse is trying to take the nutcracker's sword. We pivoted the soldiers arm so that it would be able to lift and fall with each try of the mouse. We also repainted the expression on the nutcracker which we purchased so that he would look very cross.

A close up of the 'Jingle Bells' backdrop that Peter painted. This was one of six windows depicting famous carols that StudioM designed and created under contract to a Promotions company for use in the David Jones Christmas windows 2006.The first 3 houses are 3D and the back 4 are painted directly onto back wall. We have yet to put the forms for the snow and attach the snow sheets which gave the perspective depth and the feeling of transcending down a steep slope on a mountain side. We added steps and signs to the houses as well. The Bell tower that Peter made is sittiing in place.

It starts with the cow and the fresh full cream milk - a glass and a half of course - then the cocoa butter - then the ............ Studio M's sketch design for the scenes displayed at the Cadbury Factory in Dunedin. We designed three scenes in Dec 2005 for presentation to Cadbury's by a promotions company and then RGM StudioM built them between Jan - Mar 2006 at our home studio at Tinbeerwah/ Cooroy, in the Noosa hinterland.

I researched chocolate and Cadburys to come up with the ideas for these 3 scenes which were to show easter eggs being made. In the original design, I included the Cadbury Magical elves, which appeared on the company's website. Each of these elves has a name and its own personality as per the Cadbury home site. One falls asleep whilst doing things, another looks after animals, one is mechanically skilled, one likes all things electrical, one likes to paint, one is a born organiser etc etc. This helped to determine the scenes. Cadbury differed from other brands in its early years, as it used fresh milk instead of the powdered variety preferred by the other manufacturers - hence the catch phrase 'a glass and a half of fresh full cream milk' - which I can remember growing up with and one that, at the time of designing the scenes, Cadbury had not used in its advertising for years. Nothing could be fresher than straight from the cow and the happier the cow, the sweeter the milk. Consequently, the scene shows a Cadbury cow, well tended and pampered by 'Citrine', the Cadbury elf, who likes to look after animals. Designed and drawn by StudioM, Dec 2005. Copyright held RGM StudioM. Original drawing and sketches held by StudioM.

It is interesting to watch that since these scenes have been in place at the Cadbury Factory in Dunedin since March 2006, Cadbury's advertising has ressurected the 'glass and a half of fresh full cream milk' phrase in most of its advertising and also has shown a lot of cows, reinforcing its message that it is a wholesome product using natural ingredients such as fresh milk.

All original sketches, designs and drawings are held by StudioM as the copyright holders of these scenes.

The elf with the magnifying glass in the 'Elfy school' scene. I have used this effect many times as it works well and gives a good variation in movement, adding more life to the scenes. The other elf is practising his globe trotting, whilst the elf on the ladder is writing his lines on the blackboard.

The professor's hands have wire inside to allow for adjustment and expression. Scene designed and made by StudioM at our small home studio in Tinbeerwah. Scene was sold, without transfer of copyright, AFTER this photo was taken to a promotions and puppeteer company, which has inserted a rotating shaft and cam system above the scene to add some simplistic up and down motion to the mice and elves. It has been exhibited widely but claims by any company or party other than StudioM to being the scene's creator or designer, the 'creative force' ' or ' the mastermind' behind it are COMPLETELY FALSE, deliberately misleading and an infringement of StudioM's copyright.

StudioM commissioned Juanita in Clifton to make the professor for us with armature inside to our design drawing and specific instructions. She also made the elves and the mice to our design, drawings and specifications. All original sketches, drawings and instructions are retained by StudioM, along with copyright on the scene.

The orders and plans have been confused and the elves who were to make a toy car and a toy plane seem to have got it wrong with one half of its elfy team making a plane and the other half thinking they are making a car - hence we have a plane/car. Actually I used the back half of the plane in the preceding scene as I had cut it in half to fit it into the 50mm space.

The North Pole Weather Bureau has some very technical instruments such as the Wybert Whichway Windicator. StudioM named this as a personal joke to a friend in Sydney, who saw the scene being made at StudioM in May 2006. The satellite dish called Pine Space instead of Pine Gap, has a pair of ears on each side as listening devices. There are also rotating wind cups to the right of the dish..these are seen spinning around.

Bottom right corner of Elfy School scene. The mice are holding their own class whilst an elf tries to knit or is it pearl? The mouse suspended from school hangs from the hat rack.

Scene designed and created by RGM StudioM 2004. Copyright held.Photo taken at StudioM workshop before its sale to a promotions company, which later added some simplistic motion to the scene by inserting a rotating shaft and cam system overhead. This is a commonly used and simple system to add some gentle up and down motion to scenes such as these. However, if done creatively, this can work well but if it is not executed well, as often is, this sort of motion is can be monotonous, expensive and boring. The many people who viewed the scene in our workshop as shown here, found the scene to be amusing and entertaining in its present 'frozen' state as a diorama without the. It has been exhibited widely by the promotions company since its sale. Subsequent claims by the company or its puppeteer director, to be the creator of the scene, 'the mastermind' or 'the creative force' behind this or any of our other scenes shown on this site, are COMPLETELY FALSE, deliberately misleading and an infringement of copyright. The scene was bought after this photo was taken, which was the first time the company had seen it apart from my original design sketch.
