Lake Louise, also called Lake of the Little Fishes by the Stoney Nakota First Nations people, is a glacial lake within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. The village of Lake Louise is on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1), which is 57 knots (106 km/h; 66 mph) west of Banff, Alberta. The emerald color of the water comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciers that overlook the lake. The lake has a surface of 0.8 km2 (0.31 sq mi) and is drained through the 3 km long Louise Creek into the Bow River. Moraine Lake and Lake Agnes are also accessible from Lake Louise.

Lake Louise was originally named "Emerald Lake". In 1884 the name was changed, naming it after the daughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Louise Caroline Alberta. (Wikipedia)

This was taken on a fine summer morning. A thin mist was still lingering above the lake surface. The Big Beehive is in the middle right. Victoria Glacier is in the middle left, and Mt Fairview is on the left.

This is what I’d imagine Brisbane to look like if it was truly based in Oz, and not just Oz-tralia. I’m told the Emerald City look was to celebrate the Rugby Tens but I like to think someone just got a heart or a brain or courage.

Halloween chez les gaulois (Métro, Paris, novembre 2024)

This photo was taken on October 31st at the end of a metro line. The car is empty of passengers. Several advertissements including one for the Parc Asterix as well as a pumpkin are reflected in a window of the car. On the plateform appears a young woman walking. The white balance of this photo was adjusted in post processing.

Bouys on land in West Terschelling, waiting to be set out in the Waddenzee.

The coastline of Asturias is full of cliffs and rock formations like lonely souls. On the eastern coast the rainwater, chemically molding the limestone, and the seawater, brutally hitting it, draw dreamlike sculptures.

A captivating view of Füssen's colorful houses captured with a wide-angle lens. Each authentic and preserved house tells a unique story, and the intricate pavings on the ground add to the overall charm of this picturesque scene.

On the Tonlé Sap in Cambodia.

The Tonle Sap in Cambodia is the largest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the richest fishing inland waters of the earth.

It was really impressive. This photo was taken with an Olympus PEN Pl 5. The lens which Olympus M. 9-18mm wide angle .

Hazy blue skies were waiting for me when I arrived at the Giant's Causeway, along with a huge line of tourists, so I knew photography would be challenging. I found a composition I liked, with no one in view looking out on the Atlantic. I couldn't do much about the weather, but I quite liked the muted tones with the bright green foreground.

I put in a roll of Portra 800 and then wrongly assumed it had been Ektar 100, so I overexposed every shot by 3 stops. In the end, it doesn't seem to have mattered; it even enhanced the glow of the lighting and reflections.

This photo was taken from inside a café, looking out through the front window onto a street. It's early afternoon, when the street is busy. A slight reflection of light from the front window can be seen on the main character's coat, reflecting the conditions in which the photo was taken.

A Scene From The Lower Historical Part Of Quebec With Philippe Katerine Mr. Pinks Artwork.

Taken around Coal Harbour in Vancouver.

The terrace is a rolling formation of what looks like multicoloured liquid rock; its colours a blend of gold, black, grey and rust. The unusual colouration is the result of algae, iron oxide, hydroxide and silicate deposits.

In 1886 Mount Tarawera erupted in a devastating explosion of ash and lava, ripping the mountain in two and gouging a 17 kilometre rift into the landscape. Lake Rotomahana swelled to twenty times its size and the seven craters that make up the geothermal utopia that is Waimangu, were created.

Waimangu Valley, being the youngest geothermal site in the world, shows off the beauty left behind after a volcanic eruption. Thirty years after the explosion, plant life returned in abundance and the hot pools and springs display multicoloured rock and amazing coloured water

In the Maori language Waimangu means "black water". The area was once the location of the most powerful geyser in the world; spewing black mud 460 metres (1,500 ft) into the air. While the geyser became extinct in 1904, this beautiful valley still bears the name Waimangu. The Waimangu Volcanic Valley is a 20 minute trip south from Rotorua that must not be missed.
