The cork oak provides the raw material, and in Portugal it has given us some shade in the midday hours.
Whether you see me through
Spiral out and it shakes me
I'm full of doubt but if you only believe
Show me you're sincere
Take away my fears
And be brave for me.....

Kasteel De Haar (formerly Het Huys te Haer) is a monumental castle in the Utrecht village of Haarzuilens.
It is the largest castle in the Netherlands.
Whether you visit Castle de Haar for the park, the wonderful history, the exhibitions, the gardens, the deer or to get married, you imagine yourself in a different world.
Behind every door, every detail, every flower from the colorful gardens, there is a story.

Whether it be rivers, roads, tracks in fields -I've got a thing about meandering curves, and I know I'm not the only one!
A lot of us develop it.
Here one of my all time favourite trees; the invaluable Japanese maple variety "Sango Kako" formerly "Senkaki"
or coral bark maple, displays not only its glowing sealing wax red bark, but also the flowing curves which make up its elegant and graceful form.
The red & orange stemmed dogwoods & willows are also beautiful but not in the same league for intense colour & habit.
Had to use the 300mm lens to isolate the curving branch, so you don't get the full effect here but artistically it did what I wanted & gave the Bokeh of course.
Every afternoon around 3pm in my garden the sun lights up this tree & it glows brighter than any tree or shrub in full flower from October through to April - hope you like it :)
Whether looking towards the City skyline or the Harbour Bridge, the view from Sydney Opera House is pretty spectacular.

I doubt whether many people outside Norfolk have heard of Creake Abbey. I certainly hadn't. It is just outside the village of North Creake, a few miles south of Burnham Market. The vast majority of our abbeys and monasteries were destroyed in the Dissolution by King Henry VIII in the mid-late 1530s. But Creake Abbey, founded by the Augustinians as a priory in the 12th century, had come to grief long before that. A fire swept through the abbey in 1483, damaging the church and several of the other buildings beyond repair.
Subsequently, although extensive rebuilding of the quire and presbytery had made good progress an outbreak of the 'sweating sickness' wiped out the monastic community in 1506, the abbot himself being the last to die. This was a mysterious and contagious disease that struck England and later continental Europe in a series of epidemics beginning in 1485. The disease was last recorded in 1551. Again, something that I had not previously heard of.
The abbey site and estate was given to Lady Margaret Beaufort in 1507, and ended up in the ownership of Christ's College, Cambridge. The abbey ruins are Grade I-listed and in the care of English Heritage. They are freely accessible to the public.
Whether the electric fence was powered up or not...not likely in winter, with snow lying around and temperatures below freezing... but well.I didn't try it out ;-) .
Used an aperture of 1.8 and an exposure time of 1/4000s for this one.
I don't know whether I could make a point of presenting this picture but the view in front of my eyes was just awesome.
Three beaches from the Karon Viewpoint in Phuket
My morning tour of Phuket island started off at this place- the Karon Viewpoint- called Kho Sam Haad in Thai, which means ‘The Hill of the Three Beaches’. So that's exactly what you see from here- three beaches. Located quite a distance from my hotel, and on top of a hall, this is one of Phuket's most popular photo spots, and well worth a few minutes to take in the splendid view. The closest and smallest beach seen in the foreground is Kata Noi Beach. A bit further is the beautiful Kata Beach with its island ‘Koh Poo’ which means Crab Island and in the far, the very long Karon Beach.

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE!
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Whether we realise it or not, we are drowning spiritually. And it is entirely our own fault. The burden of our sin is dragging us under and we are in desperate need of a lifeline...
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:6-8)
Whether it's for help, for peace, to express who you love, to show patriotism, but respect other's flags.
I thought for a long time whether I should write this now or just keep it to myself. Because today is not about me at all. But it's been bothering me for days.
And as sorry as I am, it's not about you either.
Today belongs to a little boy who was not allowed to blossom like this winter aconite does.
I already know his story, which is far too short, even though I will be able to meet him for the first time in a few hours.
Because today is the first time that I am photographing an angle baby. Something I never thought I was capable of. And yet my things are ready to go.
And so I want to dedicate this flower solely to this boy whose name I don't even know. The boy and of course his family, who now have to try to deal with this situation.

Couldn't resist a trip out for this one. There was an inkling on the EM Rail Gen group around 15:00 where an 0Z20 Worksop to Kellingley Colliery was noted as a train 'of possible interest', especially with Worksop being the home to Harry Needles class 20s. 20901 and 20118 were noted heading north around 16:00 and I debated whether to leave work early and catch the pair around Kellingley, but instead opted to capture them at a location I've not visited for around two years, partly due to lockdown.
The return 6Z20 17:52 Kellingley Colliery to Chaddesden with a rake of box wagons which had been brought up from Ely in April 2019.
Whilst I know 20118 has worked previously out of Tinsley about 2-3 miles up the road, I'm not sure about the leading loco who's previous guises included D8101 and 20101. It certainly seems to have started its life north of the border in Scotland.

Poppies never stop amazing me with their simple beauty. Every time I pass a Poppy, whether here at Long Acre Manor or the Poppy field near my Village or the one I visited recently in Harrogate North Yorkshire, their heads and petals always bring a new magic, maybe its the way they hold their heads and the way the petals catch the light at Sunrise or Sunset or maybe its just the way they sway in a gentle breeze, so today I bring you yet another Poppy image, hoping to brighten your day with some Poppy Art ~ KissThePixel2019

The "QR code for the place" on the wall outside the window is a new-born relic of the past, after six months of monitoring the lives of the residents, as China has completely abandoned its anti-epidemic restrictions.
Theoretically, each customer was supposed to scan the "QR code for the place" with his/her smartphone, which then displayed a so-called "health QR code": if it was green, it meant there is no problem, if it was yellow, the customer would be refused and, if it was red, everyone, whether the customer with the red QR code or the shop assistants who were present, would be arrested and taken to a concentration camp for quarantine.

As photographers, whether we know it or not, we all have some tendencies that we follow when we're looking to frame up a shot. If y'all haven't figured out yet, I LOVE pastoral rural scenes and working trains into landscapes. I was in Roanoke for other business this past fall, but Sunday was a stunningly beautiful day, and the temptation to get out with the camera was too much for me just to drive back to Alexandria. As many of my friends love to give me grief for, Shawsville is one of my absolute favorites places to watch trains. I was going to go for the traditional fence shot with this incredible late afternoon lighting when this orange tree caught my eye, and all I needed was a train. In absolutely perfect late afternoon lighting, NS 195 pulled the hill as the last fading rays cast over the fields of Shawsville.
whether you see them or not we are literally enmeshed in electric wires. In our house, in the car, above and beneath the street.
There was a mist along the seafront which gave an eerie, mysterious atmosphere. As I was composing the image this figure walked into the frame, but I think he gives added interest and scale
The Pier was designed and engineered by Eugenius Birch to attract visitors and survive in the hostile environment of the seashore. Opened in 1866, it was a simple and functional structure built using dozens of cast iron threaded columns screwed into the seabed and strengthened by a lattice of ties and girders that provide the necessary strength to support the promenade deck whilst allowing seas to pass harmlessly through.
Originally the West Pier had an open deck with only six small ornamental houses of oriental design, two toll houses and glass screens at the pier head to protect visitors from the wind and sun. In 1875 a central bandstand was added. In the 1880's weather screens the full length of the pier, steamer landing stages and a large pier head pavilion were constructed.
The final building, completed in 1916, was a graceful concert hall. The result is seaside architecture at its finest, designed to attract and entertain holiday-makers with all the pomp and frippery that is the essence of the English seaside resort. The pier was unique in being largely unaltered since that time, its proportions and style were unrivalled and its concert hall and theatre were two of the best Victorian and Edwardian seaside entertainment buildings.
On 28th March 2003the Pavilion was destroyed in an arson attack, and then on 11th May the Concert Hall, already seriously damaged in a huge storm the previous December, was also deliberately set on fire.
English Heritage was commissioned to report on whether after such damage, the restoration was still viable. It concluded that despite the significant damage, given the wealth of salvaged material from the pier and the considerable photographic and video archive, repair and reconstruction of the pier was still viable. It was therefore bitterly disappointing that at its meeting on 28th January, the Heritage Lottery Fund decided to withdraw its funding of the project.
With the loss of lottery funding the restoration of the West Pier became impossible. Deemed a public hazard, the burnt-out Concert Hall was removed in 2010. The skeletal remains of The Pavilion, however, were left to become a feature of Brighton’s seafront. Its desolate beauty makes it much discussed, wondered about and photographed. The Trust has no intention of removing the remains unless overwhelming safety issues arise. But now beyond repair, they will inevitably degenerate and be reclaimed by nature. However the Trust remains hopeful that, with the success of Brighton i360, in due course a new contemporary West Pier, reflecting the brilliance of the original, will be built.
Whether you go every year, or you're a first-time visitor, the Dale Chihuly ceiling sculpture at the Bellagio is one Las Vegas attraction that never loses its magic. It's title, "Fiori di Como", literally means "Flowers of Como". Como is a lake in Italy, and the beautiful flowers there are what inspired Chihuly's piece.
At 70 feet by 30 feet by 12 feet, "Fiori di Como" is the largest glass sculpture ever made. Walking into the lobby of the Bellagio and seeing the Chihuly sculpture suspended from the ceiling is truly an awe-inspiring experience. Because it's so large, pictures don't really prepare you for its size or impact. All together, there are 2,000 individual blown-glass flowers that make up the sculpture. The weight of "Fiori di Como" is also staggering. The glass flowers weigh 40,000 pounds, and the steel structure holding it all in place weighs another 10,000 pounds.

Thanks for looking, everybody!
The title is a bit of a cliché, but I guess that photographing this location is also a cliché. I seem to have posted a few in the last few weeks. But then, what is a cliché. I suppose it is a subject matter which was once novel, engaging, interesting, clever, witty etc. But because of all these attributes, it has become all pervasive and ubiquitous. So now I feel better about posting this. Okay, so I have missed the boat I terms of novelty by a good year or two. But, boy, this location is all that It ever was. So there you go. I may be late. But [another cliché I suppose], better late than never. A great location is a great location. Whether I have done it justice, well, that’s another matter…
