i might start this back up when i have time. but i'm just not really at a good place to continue right now.

We had a nice dinner with bread and salad. I love the one on the left with bacon around it an cheese. Hmmm...

please read the end of this description!

It's finals week. I really feel like schools shouldn't do this to people. I feel like I may have heart problems when it's over.

Good news is it's SO close to Christmas break. Which to me means an entire MONTH without class! I can't wait! :)

*Also, I have a question for you guys. If I did a print giveaway, would anyone enter? I wouldn't want to do one and only have 3 people enter... So, let me know if you're interested. If enough people are, I'll do one. :)

Construction, Week 38

Here's that promised shot of the store construction as seen earlier this afternoon, from an angle seen many other afternoons, most recently three weeks ago. Again, the only visible progress appears to be over at the pharmacy drive-thru frame-up. Maybe it's a good thing I'm taking a couple weeks off from new pictures in this regard...

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

Theme of The Week - Family Heirloom

My Dad's Grandfather was a farmer. He made little cabins in the winter when there was nothing else to do. We have 3 of the cabins, a tobacco barn, and a wheat field.

Great-Grandpa said one of his cabins was in the Missouri History Museum... that may or may not be true.

Chocolate cake.

Under tons of cream is chocolate cake with rose petals jam.

Day 67

This is another movie poster inspired shot. This time, it is 28 Weeks Later, which is one of my favorite zombie movies.

Theme of The Week -- Prime Day

Pi(e) day!

I don't do New Years Resolutions in general. So, for this week's photo, I thought about something big that would happen in our family in 2012. Something like... potty training our almost 3-year-old.

A great action shot from tubing on the weekend... Our last weekend with our International Student. We will miss him!!

One of my baby Hermans investigating a broken egg shell...

11/52 Weeks

Theme: Nature

Taken at home, I was 30 weeks pregnant when I decided to start my DIY maternity shoots. This was shot in my spare bedroom using only natural light provided by the window, the camera was set up on a tripod at the foot of the bed and I used a remote with a 2 second delayed shutter release.

this week's assignment was all about finding unique vessels for flowers...capturing the last of the lilacs and the first of the lavender

Week 2- My Front Door

What I like about my front door is that it's over 100 years old and it's full of imperfections--from dust on the bevels (Hey, I live in windy, dusty Kansas!) to paint on the metal, it's full of charm.

Just a few of my hats stacked on a chair. Thanks everyone! I used Topaz Adjust for the processing.

My husband loves to buy hats when we travel and this is a very small portion of his collection. He has been known to buy 6-8 different ones in the same location because he can't choose between them!

I found this collection quite difficult to photograph, I had 50 of them laid out on the table but resorted to capturing just a few to try and make it interesting.

Almost 39 weeks now.

We went to our first ante-natal class about a month ago and never came back.. I was okay with it but Niki was appalled by the matter of fact approach and how we were constantly reminded of pain and tearing and all the things that can go wrong… We felt if things do go wrong, we will trust ourselves to doctors who are there to give us the best treatment. We certainly do not want to be shocked into it.

So, we took up an alternative approach called Calmbirth. In the US, I believe it is called Hypnobirth. I came into the class expecting Niki to be hypnotised into a pain-free birth. However, the classes were very educational in explaining how the body behaves through labour and how the mother can calmly do controlled breathing to managed the discomfort (note: the word pain should never be used, when you are asked how painful, you will focus on the pain..).

Well, we’ll see how this approach goes soon I guess. For Niki, this is a more acceptable approach to labour and I believe a more encouraging one.

As for me:

I have been in hibernation for a little while now and obviously have not done much photography. The last several months of change - moving cities, changing jobs and preparing our household for a new member.. preparing to be a family for the first time.. Well, I hope you can understand photography is slipping to the side for a bit. I hope to rectify that now we've settled down in our little town on the border of Melbourne - this is quite a beautiful place and there are so many opportunity for beautiful photography here. Plus.. there's going to be plenty of baby photos coming up.. Still, I may squeeze in the odd artistic nude photography when I get the time to.

Week 8 (v 12.0) - for the boots, anyway

Going to do my best to do a 52 weeks of Cooper. Just to see how much he grows and changes over his first year!

Haven't decided if it will be the same overhead shot or just a different shot each week.. thoughts?

let the adventure begin!

Week 1 (v 11.0) - cold comfort

okay, the title has nothing to do with the picture, but i couldn't stop singing, "they call me mellow yellow..." as i was editing it. lol!!

it has been a busy couple of weeks, a busy summer really, and the dogs and i were long over-due for a quiet evening at home... just relishing in that magical time when the sun starts to go down and the slightest breeze picks up and the day is finally bearable for a few minutes. i liked how the sun was hitting these trees across the road and making everything glow in fall colors. something caught june's eye and she stood here for quite a long time, just watching.
