As a side project over the next few months, I have decided to make a photo desk Web site for people who work the various photo desks at The Plain Dealer.
There are so many sites we visit, each with different sign-ons and passwords, and so many little tasks we do that require one to use, for example, the Firefox browser -- or Excite or Netscape -- exclusively (or the procedure doesn't work) that it seems a good idea to have a site where all these little tasks can be spelled out.
And since I wanted to have some art for the main page of the site, which I wanted to be as wide and thin as possible, I searched the archives for an image that could would fit the bill, so to speak, and I tweaked it in CS3 Beta. I may put some type on this image ... or not.
El Cabildo de Fuerteventura ofrecerá en un nivel más avanzado, “We are Fuerteventura nivel II, Wir sin Fuerteventura”, una acción formativa en inglés y alemán para profesionales del medio de transporte, comercio y agentes de seguridad, con el objetivo de que adquieran conocimientos idiomáticos orientados a la atención de los turistas extranjeros más específicos que la edición anterior del nivel 1. Estará destinada esta nueva acción hacia unos 200 usuarios/as profesionales.
El presidente del Cabildo, Marcial Morales, y el director de Radio ECCA, Lucas López, firmaron el nuevo convenio colaborativo en la sede del mismo Cabildo de la isla.
“We are Fuerteventura nivel II” tiene como objetivos la dotación de competencias idiomáticas orientadas a la atención del turista extranjero, así como identificar y utilizar estructuras básicas de un segundo idioma en sus actividades cotidianas y mejorar su formación para aumentar las oportunidades de empleabilidad.
Al alumnado se les facilitarán las clases grabadas, favoreciendo, así, la realización de la formación desde sus puestos de trabajo. Las tutorías presenciales se compaginarán con los horarios de trabajo y servirán para resolver dudas, realizar actividades prácticas y orientar a los participantes en situaciones reales de atención al turista.

Huge spider in my front yard (as far as spiders go for me, anything bigger than a pin head is a *huge* spider)
The big steel spider that made this web wasn't around. Probably eaten by one of those big steel birds from Heathrow.
Taken from underneath one of a line of pylons that march across the southern part of Staines Moor. I'm not a big fan of pylons, so looked for an unusual view. I grudgingly accept that they help us all when we're after a cup of tea.
