Fort Smith Arkansas. Killing a bit of time before going back to the hotel. Walking around taking pictures on Garrison Avenue in Fort Smith (see previous in series). It starts to rain a bit so I dash into the one open pub - Roosters.
The rain picks up a bit, but being from Houston I respectfully submit that I am more familiar with rain than the folks in Arkansas. We live in a swamp that got paved over for heaven's sake! So there I am at the bar drinking a bud light. Listening to the locals and ... well doing nothing.
A guy comes running back into the bar and hollers "Man, look at that!" referring to the rapidly picking up wind. The door to the bar being pulled open and the rain went horizontal in less than a minute. The speed was scary.
Next man says "funnel cloud" and "GET IN THE BASEMENT Y'ALL" - and surprisingly there was a rapid and uniform rush to the basement. First time I have ever seen drunk people move that fast. (some of these guys were drinking Yager and Red Bull - so this wasn't a tea party).
Now, I am the stranger here. Sitting at the bar. I know no one. At all. So what do I do? Hell yes, I run with the crowd thinking "damn, if THESE people think it is worthy to run from a funnel cloud above the avenue, well it seems prudent for me to follow a similar path of action. Or maybe I just thought "oh shit!" or something like that.
Doors popping open and closed. And then, just as fast, it was gone. Never touched down. Biggest take away from this experience - SPEED. It came and went so fast it was truly terrifying, and this one didn't even land!
Best part? When I got back to the hotel shortly after the rain stopped we had no power. That is a whole 'nuther post.
This morning was lovely and sunny and well worth my walk along the beach ~ a lovely view across to Arran.
Our forecast for tomorrow is not looking so good!!

Bought the Double LP 11.9.1986 in Stockholm 144 Kr
One of my last LPs I bought in 1986, and this one in Stockholm, Sweden. Haven't found it in Finland.
Weather Report live performances from all around the world. Most of the songs are were from their previous LPs. The band was the best they ever had. Pastorius is still in the bass. He's got a wonderful solo: Slang! - A bit nostalgic to listen all these wonderful performances.
I saw Weather Report once live in Helsinki and Zawinul's band once too.
Sunny, beautiful blue skies, and cold as a witch's tit. Windy too. #NYC #spring #mrbluesky #weatherreport #share
May 15, 2019 - Dallas Raines making his Weather Report with the Green Screen on Live Broadcast during our ABC 7 Eyewitness News VIP Tour. Jonathan and I had a VIP Tour of the ABC 7 Eyewitness News Station and Headquarters in Glendale, CA.
They were filming at Justin Herman Plaza at The Embarcadero. I actually had an urge to video bomb him from behind. But the professionalism of me had hold me back. Aggh! OSS didn't work so well with my hand shaking at suboptimal shutter speed.

So many classics on this album: Punk Jazz, Mr. Gone, River People, Young and fine...
... but this is the famous "one-star" rated record by Down Beat at the time!
The album opens with Zawinul's composition: The Pursuit which has cool synth. sounds, medium tempo groove, African style singing - great mood! Shorter's Elders - the mood is a bit sad and dreamy...
Shorter's Pinocchio is already in Miles Davis record Nefertiti in 1967 - this is interesting to hear a new version of the old song.

The 5th studio album by the Weather Report.
The rhythm section is new here.
My absolute favor on this record is the fantastic Badia. It's just like a fairy tale, a fantastic musical story with new fresh sounds and rhythms. And the the deep and meditative Freezing Fire.

It is +4 degrees centigrade with a chilly north wind and snow flurries. Most of the snow had melted by the afternoon.

I'm still not doing much typing, my friends, so as not to aggravate my right (dominant!) arm. It aches when I push it... The
MRI showed two tears. I see the orthopedic surgeon on August 19. I'll know more about treatment and timing after I see him.
Thanks so much for your patience with me! I'm getting to a few of you each day. I wish it could be more! Have a fine weekend!
