Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) plans heat lockdowns starting at 27°C
Due to man-made climate change and the 2000% increase in the CO2 content of the air we breathe, the risk of dying from sudden heat death or suffering a lifelong disability is 400% higher than 10 years ago, especially among vulnerable groups of the population.
The bill is expected to be passed by the Bundestag before the end of June 2023.
A climate warning app, which is being developed with taxpayers' money at a cost of 1.2 billion euros, is to inform citizens* about the respective danger situation, and what measures to take:
Bans on going out, regional shutdown of the power grid, blacking out windows, bans on exercise, going out and sports, bans on sexual activity, absolute abstinence from meat, singing, etc.
Violations of the protective measures are registered via the app and punished with high fines.
This is done solely for the benefit and protection of the citizens,
to mitigate the effects of the climate catastrophe as much as possible.
After all, it is about the continuity of humanity,
said the Minister of Health.

I always wondered during weather reports why the weathe person doesn't simply look out the window and adjust his/her broadcasted report to the conditions outside.
How many times have rain or snow beaten against your window, and the local weather report suggests it's a great day for a family trip to the beach or such other outside activity.
I saw this scene one afternoon. The skies had darkened and the lights of the WCCO tower come on. The early reports of clear skies remained unchanged.
It was too good to pass up this photo.
That’s one way of describing our recent cold snap. (Americans still use Fahrenheit in their weather reports.)

Dights Falls, Abbotsford, Victoria
Last Monday was very wet here in Victoria and the Birrarung (Yarra) River was running high. There were record downpours in parts of the state and in some places people were reliving the massive floods of October 2022 which caused a lot of damage to the livelihoods and homes of many. Thankfully, it was not quite so severe this year but there were still some worrying moments.
I went down to Dights Falls on the Birrarung to take a few photos for social media and for the Yarra Riverkeepers, an environmental advocacy group, and ran into this crew from Channel 9 who were about to film the nightly weather report from Dights Falls. They were very relieved when I promised not to videobomb the shoot!

Just quick snaps through my mobile cam, but the sight was so beautiful last Sunday ...
... if you look closely you can also see the "other", the second rainbow, on top of the main one. Much less intense, of course. And, no, it was not a full rainbow. This is more or less what there was to see. Above the main abbey church it was all dark clouds only.

short bursts of sunshine on Chantry Island, on Lake Huron , in the morning...
More sunshine in the afternoon...enough that I wielded a duster for a little while... ( no more sunshine for the next few days, so I put the duster away....) This is true.

They come and go, as early warnings…

Well, today we returned to what has unfortunately become almost the normal weather at least over the last few weeks! I took this as soon as I stepped outside and then immediately turned back!!
Yes, it poured down!!

Josef Erich Zawinul (7 July, 1932 – 11 September, 2007)
Jazz keyboardist and composer
This week I was saddened to learn of the death of one of my greatest musical heroes, Joe Zawinul, at the age of 75. I can’t describe just how much this guy has had an impact on my life, both with his groundbreaking band Weather Report and as a solo artist. It occured to me, after hearing on BBC Radio 3 about his death, that I have been enjoying his music for 30 years, ever since hearing that classic 1977 album, Heavy Weather – which opens with the famous Birdland and is followed by the beautifully sublime A Remark You Made (my all-time favourite, both the original and the big band version on Brown Street).
Billy Jnr. and I had the pleasure of seeing Joe in concert a couple of years ago at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, with his energetic Zawinul Syndicate – what a night! And I believe he was gigging – clearly his passion – almost up to the point he was admitted to hospital last month in his home town of Vienna.
The world has lost a brilliant musician, and it took me by surprise just how upset I was on hearing the news! But I will always have my memories and my huge collection of Weather Report and Zawinul albums, which I never tire of listening to – so he will always live on in that way.
There are a couple of hundred great photos of the man in action here on Flickr (just search for ‘Zawinul’) as well as some fantastic footage on YouTube.
I can’t express just how much I need to thank you, Joe, for what you have given me. Rest in peace (In a Silent Way) and enjoy the music of eternity...

I wouldn’t normally upload a direct copy of album art, but the image felt appropriate for my tribute.
Unfortunately we can't sit outside right now. The Yellow Jackets won't leave you alone. I got stung the other day on the wrist.
It's Raining Tonight In Tucson, Arizona. We are in a severe 19 year drought!!

Rush Hour in Helsinki the Beautiful. This photo explains some of the background factors (depressing weather) behind high suicide rates in Finland and national alcohol problem of the Finns. This image is more or less definition of ultimate ugliness. Can't get much duller than that. Pretty shots are so overrated. Excessive realism is the word of the day, well up here the harsh conditions kind of force you to believe in that. Shitty weather like nine months out twelve. In Finland we have two seasons: winter and July...

The swimming pool next to the orchard and the rose garden has been completely renovated. I particularly like the new fence.
Should have swung left for this one. As the storm was getting closer, I was huddled down on the ground away from my tripod. Didn't want to risk getting struck adjusting the camera for better shots. Either that or I just didn't know where they were coming from.
Some people got bolts of lightning in their back yards I imagine for this one.
