These boots were left behind by one of the many snow removal folk who worked around the area this winter - I couldn't resist "borrowing" them for a little photo shoot. I'll return them later today in case he/she comes back for them though they've been sitting untouched under the road sand tarp for over a month now, so I doubt that will happen...

the weary travelers have returned from DC, and the first order of business is to share one of the highlights of the trip -- the first time i ever got to meet a flickr friend in person!

and it was the talented and beautiful miss winelove no less!

my only complaint was that our visit was way too short. she came out of her office and met us for a few minutes. she's as darling as you would imagine her to be!

jamie, hope you come to colorado some day and we can visit longer! xo

"Lost again

Broken and weary

Unable to find my way

Tail in hand

Dizzy and clearly unable to

Just let this go

I am surrendering to the gravity and the unknown

Catch me heal me lift me back up to the sun

I choose to live "

This is the first time that I post a duplicate. Reason is I wanted to go beyond the simple "raw negative scan" and tinker a bit with this image in Lightroom (I really want to start printing optically, but it's a bit daunting to do all by my lonesome self... so until then, Lightroom and inkjet it is) to refine this image further... When I started experimenting with film photography this summer, I thought that I wouldn't use computer retouching ever again. Yet now I realize that straight scans just don't cut it. They are just a starting point....

For god-sake, we ALL get weary?

Oh she may be weary

Them young girls they do get wearied

Wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah yeah

But when she gets weary

Try a little tenderness, yeah yeah

From the song written by Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly and Harry M. Woods in 1932 and performed by many of the greats!

I love the Rod Stewart version.

The red petals are a joyful accent.

Feathers symbolise for me, tenderness, softness and warmth, all the things we need in real life and especially now, when the world, once again, feels like a harsh place.

We will have to be strong, however I am convinced that the good will survive… with a lot of tenderness and care for our fellow man.

I wish you a life full of peace and goodness, thank you, M, (*_*)

At the end of the day we can look back and say, It's been a good day. The road can be a challenge, but when it comes to closing your eyes at night, hopefully it's been good.

Happy Fence Friday

Old and tired and hunkered down among the weeds on a dreary winter day an abandoned little old shed looks like it's had enough. Still, for the discerning passersby, there's enough beauty and dignity left in the dear old thing to stop and appreciate it's charming qualities. That's quite a story I just made up...

See if you can find it at the roadside on the Waimea Plain near Nelson at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island.

I still can't think of any good titles. I envy all of you who can =P **this title was thought up be a good friend of mine ;-) **

I had a photo shoot with a senior today. Maybe I'll be able to post some of those later.

After the photo shoot, I went on a hike to take my self portrait. It was really half exploring because I didn't really know where I was going. In the end, I found an old, broken down fire place in the woods. It served as my background today. :) I rather like how this turned out.

It was very cold out. 9_9 I ended up sitting in the snow half the time. That on top of being pelted with ice falling from the trees is the reason why im so terribly white!! O_O I was incredibly cold.. but that is the joy of winter :)

Run free now, my Harley girl. May you always feel the sunshine on your sweet face. I will never forget the sound of your voice outside my door.

Taken at Didcot Railway station. The older we get the more travelling takes it toll.

They may be resting and past their prime, but they looked so pretty against the rust and wood!

Happy Halloween everyone.

Day 342 (v 16.0) - and it's not even mid week

6/52

Model: Catherine Adams

She was a joy to work with and I loved it. Expect more of her soon, i think she'll be a regular like Cathy.

We went to a poor part of town and I originally planed a different shoot but it did not work. I was so fortunate to find this wonderfully old sewing machine, I felt like I was taken back in time to a London sweatshop. I've had this image in my mind for quite some time and I never thought I'd be able to actually do it.
