“In a cool solitude of trees

Where leaves and birds a music spin,

Mind that was weary is at ease,

New rhythms in the soul begin.

Sweet Blondie was taking a moment for herself between being a nursing mom and finding food for herself to just lay down and rest against a pine tree.

- Toc, toc, toc !

...still much winter ahead

This pair of older bison had just swum across Yellowstone's Firehole River and we're catching their breath. They were exhausted, wet and muddy. Old timers. They recovered eventually and mosied along to newer pastures.

Oh, I am very weary, Though tears no longer flow; My eyes are tired of weeping, My heart is sick of woe.

Yet another view up river with interesting weather and a boat. When you live near this corner of Chicago, you'll fill your Lightroom catalog with shots. 😎

I've just realized that I've already posted this shot. With the slightest of different edits. 😩 :shame:

Since hitting the road from western shore

more than a decade has passed me bye.

A journeyed traveler on a life long tour

to reach east coast dawn, soul will soar

unto the heavens with a twinkling eye.

This vagabond life can I transcend?

To give up sleeping beneath the stars

Life on life’s terms does not pretend

This journey fades as I near the end

The long sleep under Venus and Mars

This shot is a different version of a photo of some Civil War reenactors that I posted a couple of weeks ago. At that time, I couldn't decide which version I liked best, and since today is Thursday, it seemed like a good time to post this alternate version for the Thursday Monochrome group.

These men, portraying Union soldiers, had just finished a mock battle during an American Civil War reenactment event last fall in Hainesville, Illinois. I've added the other version of this image in the first comments box, for any who are interested. Feel free to let me know which you prefer.

Ah Sunflower, weary of time,

Who countest the steps of the sun;

Seeking after that sweet golden clime

Where the traveller's journey is done.

Florence at Low Tide

It's a wonderful cloudless sky today, so I'll cycle down to see the bees later. I'm so lucky I can cycle down to reach the coast, buying the bike has been one of the best things I've done. To just see the coast every day is so uplifting, even if the strong coastal winds make the cycling so hard. I'm certainly getting fitter, so I thought I'd post an uplifting coastal shot from a typical low tide walk. Never get weary is by Toots and the Maytals.

Keep right on to the end of the road,

Keep right on to the end,

Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,

Keep right on round the bend.

Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on,

Till you come to your happy abode,

Where all the love you've been dreaming of

Will be there at the end of the road.

Found this old fishingboat. It wont go out fishing again.

Turkey Vultures seem to have a "world weary" expression, as if they have seen it all, and there's nothing that can surprise them.

They truly are nature's clean-up crew, and when there is a group circling overhead, it's a good sign there's been a kill.

I read some time ago that in Africa, poachers kill vultures, as they would provide clues to the game wardens that there had been an illegal kill, and that's how they were finding the poachers. The kill of the vultures obviously created a lot of problems, as they are such an important part of the ecosystem.

House Where Nobody Lives

“Thus each of us had to be content to live only for the day, alone under the vast indifference of the sky. This sense of being abandoned, which might in time have given characters a finer temper, began, however, by sapping them to the point of futility.” - Albert Camus

But tomorrow is another day.
