Soaring in the face of the gale and breaking wave, the gull seems to have no sense of danger. I was thrilled to experience the highest seas I can remember on my return to Middle Cove, near St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The weather was miserable, but the ocean was truly magnificent. More later. In Explore.

#1104 2025 Day 7: Some impressive waves today, Spittal, Northumberland

In the morning at Coalcliff village of sea, NSW, Sydney

the same lights as yesterday

Do you ever feel like you just cannot capture the "magesty" and "magnitude" of nature????.

It always seems to me that when you are there experiencing the ocean, a waterfall, a river, a sunset, the feeling is far beyond what the camera is capable of capturing.

So it was here at Shore acres, between storms. The sunlight crept through just a touch to capture this wave. All around it was raining and getting ready to rain. What a feeling !!

Sea wind, tribute to past surfers.

Wave off the coast of Gran Canaria. A nice and quiet day, but still sizable waves hitting the coast near Patalavaca

Near the small town of Hayden is a vast Granite rock with one side that appears as a perfect surf break. Created by 2.5 billion years of weathering.

Waves and wave motion

Few things are more intellectually and conceptually interesting, and confounding, than attempting to understand wave-particle duality and the role of the observer in quantum mechanics (as many of us first explored as young people being shown versions of the famous double-slit experiment). This is not that or anything like it, of course, as these dunes built of miniscule grains can all be appreciated and described in the classical world. But spending a quiet sunrise in Death Valley among these beautiful wave forms visibly borne of billions upon billions of ever-restless particles got me thinking crazy abstractly nonetheless . . .

Thanks for viewing!

Not even the waves were going to stop this dog getting his toy

Water spills over the jetty and steps onto the walkway at Second Valley during some wild weather last weekend. It was a cleaner shoot than the prior evening but still soakingly wet lol
