Washing up their utensils after their meal. Refrigerators are luxury items here, so they put the watermelons on the water tanks to be chilled. Took some time-off during volunteering at this children's home for some snapshot of the wonderful kids living there. Yangon, Myanmar.
He found his way through the evil streets, covered in blood. He slowly washed off, feeling the intensity of what he had done.
He didn't know that someone was watching - with a camera..... until he turned around....

There is something about washing in Italy . . . and I always find myself photographing it.
This wonderful Italian woman lived opposite where I was staying and each morning she would sit out on here balcony and bring her canary out with her too.
In contrast to all of the Italians I met, she was not a fan of having her photo taken and if she saw me pointing the camera in her general direction she would go inside. I managed to sneak this one quickly through the window from my room!

The washing hoist or Hill's hoist (which it was called universally in Australia) was invented here many years ago and took the country and subsequently the world by storm. Before that though was the basic simple washing line reinforced by props (you can see one in this picture) which kept the line from sagging and becoming a sail in a decent wind. I haven't seen one of these for many years, my Dad having purchased one for my Mum way back in 1962. Life moves on and the demand for the bog standard Hills hoist has dropped off, even in its modern iteration because of the proliferation of small backyards and electric driers. But herein lies the rub, a basic washing line can be set up almost anywhere and it's got to be environmentally friendly too. Mumbil, New South Wales.
Dozens of geese were washing at the same time, the soundscape was spectacular.
The whole spook lasted a quarter of an hour.

A similar scene I used to see where people wash their clothes on riverbank.
They use huge hardwood stick beating laundries to get rid of its dirt.
No fabric softener, no laundry sheets, no bleach!
They use detergent bars and pure hand power.
So be kind to your washing machines and the laundromats that serve you!
Don't clean your shoes on it! LOL
