There is the most enchanting courtyard cafe on Wharfstreet in Port Alfred. These are the oldest buildings in PA. You can sit and have tea of coffee here looking up and over the roof into the natural bush behind the building. Also washing.
The waves along Cape Kiwanda, Oregon toss and turn every which way like a giant washing machine.
In my recent Photo Cascadia blog post I talk about this location and how might eventually lose access because of safety concerns as well as the general topic on whether we should be restricted from a certain vantage point because of potential danger and no other concern. Check it out and welcome hearing any of your comments on it.

An analog photo is only really finished onve it has been printed on paper. Printing a well exposed and developped negative on fibre-based paper, washing and drying it represents a long and intensive process, which can go wrong at every stage, but when it succeeds, you look at your picture on the wall with pride - every time - for years...
Disclaimer: I also like all manner of dgital and hybrid photography.
Washing day blues in the good old days.
Washing day consisted of a tub and a wringer on top of the tub.
It was a matter of throwing the washing into the tub add a carefully measured amount of Rinso into the water.
Switch the power on and the agitator would do its job.
It would turn in violent almost epileptic partial rotations blending the washing powder into the water and churning the clothes.
Once that cycle was completed it was matter of putting everything through the wringer to squeeze out any remaining water.
Then it was out the back to the clothes line to dry.
In the days prior the Lance Hill the washing ladies friend made his fortune with his invention, the Hills hoist clothes lines consisted of two poles that extended most likely the length of the back yard with generally two wires connecting either end.
No electronic magic involved.

Washing strung up above the rice paddies on the terraced pathway to Ulleri.
A few minutes later, we spotted an eagle - flying below us.
The eagle's back is scabbed, as Strindberg would say.
Another of many that I had on my list was washing line. I have a few but this one stands out the most. It seems like no matter where you point the camera in Venice there is always something that will catch you eye.

The story goes .......
I was washing the dishes up,deep in thought or as some would say, away with the fairies ! When I looked up, this fellow was right there, bang up against our window, well as near as poss. Appeared to be sipping water off the washing line. Almost makes me want to do the dishes more often ;-)
