Known as the memorial to an unknown sailor. This image was taken in 2006 when all was quiet & peaceful there , in this lovely city. Now this image has very unpleasant overtones ,as this nation is fighting for its very existence.

I am not the author of this picture. This picture made a war correspondent covering the event on the front during the Russian aggression against Ukraine. This photo is placed on the stand, who talks about fighting in eastern Ukraine.
The war against Ukraine organized by the Russian leadership to seize its territories.
A Second World War pillbox near Bodiam Castle in East Sussex. Visual would have been in the front line of a cross-channel invasion in 1940. I am sure the pillbox would have been valuable then as a defensive structure. Recent scholarship has reached the conclusion that the castle was built to provide an illusion of martial strength rather than as a major fortification. Perhaps the brick pillbox was also to give more a feeling of security?

War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again
War-huh
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Yeah
War-I despise
'Cos it means destruction
Of innocent lives
War means tears
To thousands of mothers how
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives...

This exhibit is part of one of the museums I've visited in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam (War Remnants Museum). It depicts the condition of the prisoners of war during that time. Images of the atrocities of war are on diplay in that museum. Its a reminder to everyone that everybody loses in a war, nobody ever wins... Its a lesson that humanity always tend to forget.
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
-Rudyard Kipling
