The Parkland Walk is a 2.5-mile (4.0 km) linear green walkway in London, which follows the course of the railway line that used to run between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace, through Stroud Green, Crouch End, Highgate and Muswell Hill. It is often mistakenly described as 4.5 miles long, but even taking in the gap between the two sections it still only totals 3.1-miles (5.0km). The route follows the bridges and cuttings of the line, but avoids the closed surface section of Highgate station and its adjoining tunnels, which are closed to walkers for safety reasons. The walk is almost all in Haringey, but a short stretch between Crouch Hill and Crouch End Hill is in Islington, and this section incorporates Crouch Hill Park.
The walk is a local nature reserve and a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. It was declared a local nature reserve in 1990 and is London's longest such reserve. Between Finsbury Park and Highgate, the path forms part of the Capital Ring strategic walking route

Photo Walk: I began my law enforcement career in the mid 90's working in a small town called Woodland, CA. I decided to take a drive and go back to this quaint lil town and walk about to try and capture the essence and feel of this town. This town use to be called “Yolo City”, a city surrounded by farmland located just past Sacramento International Airport .
Many of the historic buildings in this town have either been preserved or restored.
Something a little different to the portrait work I've been doing recently. I attended a Fuji photo walk where you basically get to wonder around with some of their shiny new cameras/lenses and try them out. I had the Fuji XE-1 and the 14mm lens for most of the time and I'm blown away by the results. Maybe next year...

Decisions, decisions ... I don't know about you, but I think I'll choose the 'Woodland Walk'.

Photos from the Sabino Canyon Volunteer Naturalist led nature walk, Wednesday February 21, 2018. After five months without surface flow there is water back in the creek.
After 1.7 inches of rain in the week leading up to the Wednesday walk (and much more including snow on Mt. Lemmon) Sabino Creek was flowing nicely, with just over 10 cubic feet per second on the morning of our walk.
It was a bit soon to see much evidence of the plants recovering, althoug it may have been my imagination, but the palo verdes seemed greener.

And American Soldier.. A Marine.. A Defender of Freedom.. Ready to protect, takes his walk on the long road to defend our freedom.
We have lived in the village since 2009, and we can't remember such a wet spring/early summer. Meaning that where the ground is usually baked hard like concrete, it is soft and muddy underfoot, with some places so bad you can't get by.
Which I why I didn't go down the Dip, but headed up to Windy Ridge, mainly looking for butterflies, but also for the emergence of summer flowers, of which there were a few.
The walk back was enlivened by a fox running in front of me then across the paddock next to me and then into the woods.
Friday came round, and I have to get into town to pick up some new glasses. I have the choice, either to walk, or catch the bus.
Although it was grey this morning, the forecast was for sunshine by lunchtime, so I took a chance.
There is just one safe way to walk into town, which just happens to be off the meter scenic, along the cliffs.
Considering a week or so ago, I struggled to walk back from the village shop, to walk into the village, through the churchyard, over Reach Road, through the estate, over the fields, through the woods, past South Foreland Light to the cliffs.
That alone was longer than the walk back from the shop.
Spring has arrived in East Kent, flowers in gardens and in the woods. Primroses, Grape Hyacinths, and other wonders all coming into bloom.
I arrived at the cliffs to see three people messing around taking pictures on the cliff edge: photographic opportunity!
Along the cliffs, with the north easterly wind at my back, blowing me towards Dover. And as I walked, the clouds thinned and what was weak sunshine became a glorious spring day.
No better place to be than on the cliff tops.
Inbetween Langdon Cliffs and the Fan Bay Shelter, the National Trust have laid a path, looks more like a scar to be honest. But sadly needed, due to the added footfall along the cliffs with people visiting the shelter, causing erosion.
Once at Langdon, instead of taking the direct path, I go round Harbour Filed, then down the old railway track leading to the Cliff Road.
Once out of the north wind, it feels warm, certainly too warm to need a jacket, and on either side of the path, spring flowers were already in bloom.
On the Cliff Road, the sound of the busy port could be heard, and a peak over the cliff showed it working hard as usual, but no traffic getting of a ferry, but plenty more arriving.
A mallard near the duck pond in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria. I think she was expecting some food for the shot :))
I doubt that her name is Renee, but as she walked away I thought of the wonderful 1966 single "Walk Away Renee" by the Left Banke.
The was sun sneaking into my early morning snap.
I find it quite challenging at times to use the camera in my cellphone...it is mostly a game of chance when it comes to getting a decent photo...no viewfinder!
Hopefully this will suffice.
Benalla Lake Walk, a tranquil track passing through the varied and picturesque landscapes that circle Lake Benalla. Enjoy the views, spot native animals and historic landmarks or simply soak up the atmosphere. A wonderful walking and cycling track encircling Lake Benalla takes you across boardwalks and past majestic red gums through picturesque botanical gardens and the natural splendour of the neighbouring bushland where birds and wildlife abound. The track follows the edge of the Lake to where it empties into the Broken River, along the Lake's wall. (goo.gl/Z5xCiz)
More than 3,600 individuals in support of a stronger Orange County took the field on April 19 at Angel Stadium for the 7th Annual WALK UNITED 5K walk and community festival. The event, presented by Wells Fargo, with lead sponsors the Orange County Register and Edison International, and many other corporate champions, helped to raise nearly $250,000 for United Way’s “FACE 2024” community-wide action plan tackling the long-term education, income, health and housing needs of Orange County residents. Within the 5K route, walkers experienced an array of sights, sounds and tastes as some of OC’s most popular food trucks served up nutritious fare amidst crowd-pleasing rock n’ roll bands, stellar performances from many of United Way’s partner high schools including marching bands, a drumline band, cheerleading squads, hip hop dancers and more.
A day's walk along the River Wharfe from Burnsall to Grassington and back.
Perfect Autumnal weather too
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone.
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone.
I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone
Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone.
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone.
I walk alone
I walk alone.
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...
302/365: Christmas Day afternoon walk... can't beat it! Especially when there's a bit of snow on the ground too. YAY!
