It was a beautiful frosty morning, and I was trudging through waist deep snow at times to capture some of the beauty at Lion's Conservancy Park. I ran across this man and little boy. The little boy was getting tired, so he got a little help as they continued on the trail.

Week 12: Glove

Photo-a-fortnight 7/26

Barney on one his walks.

With Jools at a bead class in Folkestone, I was left with a few hours on me tod to decide what to do with.

There was a green hop festival on at The Berry in Walmer, so a plan formed in my head. Instead of walking from here, I got Jools to drop me off at The Monument, so I could I walk along the cliffs to Kingsdown and on to Deal. Perfect.

As soon as Jools dropped me off, the sun shone through as I neared the Monumant, so best take a shot to record the moment.

Once I got to the cliff edge., I could see looking down it was near to high tide as the waves lapped at the foot of the cliffs.

Not much wildlife about this late in the season; a few gulls but no raptors and certainly no butterflies.

The wind was keen and in my face, but I kept a good pace. Away to my left, the pringle-wearing hoards played golf; seemed to be popular, the car park was full.

Until I came to the Kingsdown, where the cliff run out, down the steps and onto the beach.

Further along, yet more repairs to the beaches are being carried out, more huge wooden piles being driven in to save what little there is here.

A group of bravehearts was out swimming in the sea, a hardy bunch called the Kingsdown Crawlers, apparently.I spoke to a splendid old lady, the mother of one of the swimmers, who told me all about them.

But, the pub was calling and I must press on!

By the roadside sit hawkers of fruit, vegetables, clothing, watches, second-hand shoes.... you name it!

Large On Black

"If you see me walking down the street

And I start to cry each time we meet

Walk on by, walk on by

Make believe

that you don't see the tears

Just let me grieve

in private 'cause each time I see you

I break down and cry

And walk on by (don't stop)

And walk on by (don't stop)

And walk on by

I just can't get over losing you

And so if I seem broken and blue

Walk on by, walk on by

Foolish pride

Is all that I have left

So let me hide

The tears and the sadness you gave me

When you said goodbye

Walk on by

and walk on by

and walk by (don't stop)

Walk on by, walk on by

Foolish pride

Is all that I have left

So let me hide

The tears and the sadness you gave me

When you said goodbye

Walk on by (don't stop)

and walk on by (don't stop)

and walk by (don't stop "

"Walk on by"

Class teachers are kept busy over the week end making sure all children have a beautiful lantern for Lantern Walk.

I walk a lonely road

The only one that I have ever known

Don't know where it goes

But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street

On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Where the city sleeps

and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk alone

I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me

My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating

Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me

'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I'm walking down the line

That divides me somewhere in my mind

On the border line

Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines

What's fucked up and everything's alright

Check my vital signs

To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

More than 3,600 individuals in support of a stronger Orange County took the field on April 19 at Angel Stadium for the 7th Annual WALK UNITED 5K walk and community festival. The event, presented by Wells Fargo, with lead sponsors the Orange County Register and Edison International, and many other corporate champions, helped to raise nearly $250,000 for United Way’s “FACE 2024” community-wide action plan tackling the long-term education, income, health and housing needs of Orange County residents. Within the 5K route, walkers experienced an array of sights, sounds and tastes as some of OC’s most popular food trucks served up nutritious fare amidst crowd-pleasing rock n’ roll bands, stellar performances from many of United Way’s partner high schools including marching bands, a drumline band, cheerleading squads, hip hop dancers and more.
