In 1963, Frisch's Big Boy purchased this property and built a restaurant. It appears the restaurant was rebuilt around 1985. In 2008, the Big Boy restaurant was demolished for a Walgreens store. Walgreens #12595 was built in 2008 / 2009 and finally opened in 2009. The Walgreens reused the old Frisch's Big Boy sign.
This store's lease was supposed to continue until 2034 but the store shut down in late 2015. It is hard to tell why this store was shut down. Perhaps sales were slow. Another possibility is that there is another Walgreens one and a half miles down the road; maybe the company felt they were too close together. A third possibility could be that Walgreens closed this location to help secure their Rite Aid acquisition deal.

This location opened in summer 2009 (construction photo).
The site originally housed three businesses: a 1971-built Mobil gas station (which became BP in 1984 and Exxon in 1992, which was previously located here), a 1985-built store that was last a Zero's Subs , and an old car wash.

Store #12289, 305 Rt. 33; opened in 2010 across the street from a busy CVS. Has closed as of October 2019; a lot of the stores Walgreens have been closing were locations that seem to have only opened because they were near a competitor (up until about ten years ago Walgreens would only open stores at the busiest intersections; this is why most of those older ones aren't closing).

The anti-theft wheel didn't work so well on this one, seen at the Walmart on University Avenue in St. Paul, MN. This likely came from the Midway plaza Walgreens about a block away. This is their newest style cart, with the blue/grey color scheme.

On world famous Canal St in New Orleans. This store is one of the few that stays open 24 hours per day. It's been there for decades.

Formerly LoanMax, which was originally Dairy Queen.
This particular Walgreens closed within the past 6 months. It was one of their smaller "mobile" units, which is basically just a pharmacy and a few shelves of OTC items. The store was originally located at an older, "full-service" location at the intersection of Mayfield & Sheffield up the road.

This is something like my fourth attempt at this shot...something was off in all my previous tries, or my phone died, or I was in too much of a hurry, etc. Luckily, the toys at Walgreen's never sell.

This location opened on December 6th, 2019; it was originally Revco #4562, which opened in 1987. It became an Eckerd in summer 1997 and Rite Aid in fall 2007.
A part of Walgreens not remodeled for the Blues Brothers.
