It was an early wakeup call this morning, but it was well worth it.
We pushed off the beach just before dawn, and as the early morning clouds broke away to the East, the sun found it's way through the holes in the thinning clouds.

This Yellow Warbler didn't let me get close but I managed to get a couple shots off at a distance before it flew. It actually went to the tray feeder next but don't think it was there long enough to actually get anything.
Located on one of the coves of City Park Lake, adjacent to Lake Erie here in Baton Rouge Louisiana, a mystery to most, a handful of Cypress trees so different than the rest. A small cluster of Cypress trees used as a night's roost by herons, Ibis, egrets and cormorants. A roosting activity of flocks starting at 6:00PM each evening as each bed’s themselves down on their chosen branch by sunset. An roosting activity that last till 7:00AM, as each rising sun is a wakeup call the new day has begun. A cluster of five Cypress trees in City Park Lake that starts each mid-summer along with another cluster of two across East Lakeshore Drive in Erie Lake that starts each fall season all till the harsh winters. With ninety percent of all that arrive each year being born of that same year, how these juveniles of each species know to arrive from many miles away each night just to roost within this handful of trees is a mystery to me. To experience capture and enjoy the flocks coming in from about the hours before dusk, to leave the hours of daybreak is a blessing.

We have been very fortunate here in Virginia to have had the Amtrak 50th Anniversary units around multiple times. Far and away my favorite of these locomotives is the 160 "Pepsi Can". I knew due to the rotation and sightings south that it was leading Amtrak 80 back into Virginia on Sunday morning. As I checked the Amtrak app Saturday evening, I saw they were already running behind, which is what I needed for a daylight run on the northern end of the RF&P. The moody Sunday morning highlighted this sharp scheme well, and I was thrilled with the scene as 80 crossed over Powell's Creek in Neabsco, Virginia. This was well worth my 5 AM wakeup call, and the extra cup of coffee.

PN intermodal 6MS2 is seen slowly arriving into Unanderra with NR102, NR29 “Indian Pacific” & NR108, after a quick crew change, the train left to finish the last leg of the journey to Sydney. 6MS2 was diverted via the South Coast Line due to trackwork on the Southern Highlands line - 11/11/2023
Once I wake up very early in the morning, I've been somewhere above the sky when having a look out of the window. You've should see this in real life, this was an amazing experience.
