Foro Romano

The Roman Forum

The Roman Forum, also known by its Latin name Forum Romanum (Italian: Foro Romano), is a rectangular forum (plaza) surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum, or simply the Forum.

For centuries the Forum was the center of day-to-day life in Rome: the site of triumphal processions and elections; the venue for public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches; and the nucleus of commercial affairs. Here statues and monuments commemorated the city's great men. The teeming heart of ancient Rome, it has been called the most celebrated meeting place in the world, and in all history.Located in the small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, the Forum today is a sprawling ruin of architectural fragments and intermittent archaeological excavations attracting 4.5 million or more sightseers yearly.

Even though the pandemic (COVID-19) is a dark period, it is a historic period to remember. In this time we should live well, laugh deeply, and love often. Just remember, we're all in this together. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and we will come out and shine our light again.

Sometimes you get a photo in your head, and you can't move past it till you take the shot. I thought this idea was a bit silly to be honest, a chess set at an oblique angle. Originally I was going to have a clock, and a hand in frame preparing to manipulate a piece, but as the photo evolved I began deconstructing the scene. Removed the boring lights, used my new RGB lights to fill, and trace lines. Smacked the hand away, and filled the scene with vapor... It wasn't exactly easy getting the components to mesh well, adjusting camera angle, how much vapor I wanted. I think in the end, I took a fairly generic photo and put a different spin on it.

This is my first real test of both my 56mm portrait lens, and my RGB lights I bought for light painting purposes. How'd it come out?

For a brief moment between day and night, it is fabulously beautiful to stroll through the medieval alleys of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

yet another perspective

One day walking with Alma🐶 through San Antonio, I came across this cistern and this olive tree, and also facing the southwest, ideal for hunting the Milky Way and Antares ⭐️ (Brianna's star) ... so, it occurred to me that it would be a next photo ... and last night, after a few mosquito bites and all kinds of bugs 🐜 🐞😁, illuminating 💡with a small red led and with the car lights (as I still do not have a good lighting equipment😅), I was able to manage to take this photo ... I hope you like it !!
