Mesa Verde National Park was established in 1906 to preserve the archeological heritage of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from 600 to 1300 CE. Today, the park protects nearly 5,000 known archeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings.
Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. The structure built by the Anasazi ancestral Puebloans is located in Mesa Verde National Park in their former homeland region. They occupied the Mesa Verde region from about 450 AD to 1300 AD. The ruins were discovered in 1888 by two cowboys tracking stray cattle in a snowstorm who stopped at the edge of the steep canyon and found the amazing structures.

Paleontology has been very significant for consolidating the revolutionary darwinist approach to the study of nature.
This amazing natural accumulation of fossils, mainly ammonites, represents a small patch of sea floor “frozen in time”. These extinct cephalopods have drifted up against pieces of waterlogged driftwood. The aggregate contains four distinct genera of ammonites 200 million years old (Lower Jurassic) [Information from Ulster Museum].

The Marksburg is a hilltop castle from the 12th century above the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Braubach am Rhein, from which it took its original name Burg Brubach. It stands on a slate cone at a height of 160 meters and is the only medieval hilltop castle on the Middle Rhine that has never been destroyed.
Die Marksburg ist eine aus dem 12. Jahrhundert stammende Höhenburg oberhalb der rheinland-pfälzischen Stadt Braubach am Rhein, von der sie ihren ursprünglichen Namen Burg Brubach bezog. Sie steht auf einem Schieferkegel in 160 Meter Höhe und ist die einzige nie zerstörte mittelalterliche Höhenburg am Mittelrhein.
