Admont . Admont Monastery . Styria . Austria . Europe
With its remarkable cupola frescoes, the late Baroque library hall commissioned by Abbot Matthäus Offner (term of office: 1751 – 1779) was finally completed in 1776. Originally designed in 1764, it was constructed in the following years by the Austrian master builder Josef Hueber (1715 – 1787). Hueber was an adherent of the ideals of the Enlightenment: “Like our understanding, spaces too should be filled with light.” The massive room with its three chambers is the largest monastery library hall in the world.

2 Hours in Griffis
I've had a vision for this angle for about a year, but last weekend was my first opportunity to shoot the location alone without the worry that another photographer might introduce unwanted light to my exposure. This is a blend of 2 exposures. The foreground is 30s at ISO 3200, the sky was made by utilizing the "Live Composite" feature on my camera where my equipment will continuously stack exposures for as long as I want. In this case, I shot 10s exposures at ISO 1600 for 2 hours. During that exposure, I did a little light painting of the lady as well.
The Gear: Olympus OM-D e-M1.2 with the m.Zuiko 25mm f1.2 Pro lens and the Nisi Natural Night filter to help cut down the light pollution and bring out the colors in the stars.
In Post: Initial RAW processing handled by DxO PhotoLab4 and then pushed to On1 Photo RAW 2021.5 for filter work and exposure blending.

These images where taken in Chester UK during a walk from The Cross towards the Eastgate Clock. All this was done during my permitted exercise which (following the current rules) was done alone and within my local area.

The old engine shed at sunset with a flock of birds. They came flying in to take a rest on that old frame. I tried my brand new 24-70 2,8 zoom lens and it gave me spectacular sharpness. I must have shot about 400 photos already of the scene because of the sunset, but then I waited until the flock of doves came around one more time.
This week: Focusing on form and colour in architecture. This could be both-and, or just either.

I discovered this disused depot in a laneway behind an office building that I was visiting in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The old doors and paint-peeled walls were a striking contrast to the modern high-rise on the opposite side of the lane.
Another monochrome Photo, this Time taken during a Fotowalk in Munich. Shot with Sony ILCE-6300 and the Zeiss FE 16-35mm F4 at F=4.0.

Crepúsculo... janela amarela,
Não há mais breu, apenas ela...
Sonhando...
Com um amor que a vida te deu!
Então põe-se o sol e a certeza brota nela,
O caminho é longo, mas o amor à espera,
Como o sol que se esconde e se vai!
E volta brilhando muito mais!
Ensolarada...
Lá vou eu!... ... ...

This multiplex (5 Units) used to be a vacant lot. It's hard for me to watch open space gobbled up to development and, I am fascinated with construction. Not a bad conundrum though, because an artful, tastefully done structure becomes a thing of beauty and a joy forever. I have found joy in this design and marvel at its style often. In that turret is a hidden spiral stair to the roof :-)
Back in February of this year, C44-9WL 2515 was the leader on 407 for a week or so. On Friday the 25th, I was low enough on the spareboard that I knew I wouldn't be getting called until later in the day or possibly even Saturday. Geoff and I began our chase at Stewiacke and concluded what we deemed a successful day at Amherst West. The windchill was brutal, but well worth it, as 407 shoots across the trestle at East Mines starting into the long winding hill for the next eleven miles up to Folly Lake. Rushton and Davidson will have no issues with the westbound on this day, as the 5300' of trailing traffic is mostly empties.

The Bramante Staircase is a double helix staircase in the Vatican Museums. Wrongly attributed to Donato Bramante, this staircase was designed by Giuseppe Momo in 1932, inspired by an older one actually designed by Bramante. This staircase is a double helix, that is to say it has two staircases, one to go up, and one to go down. So no one crosses each other in the opposite direction.
