It is the most important square in the city, from where I admired the Cathedral, the tower of the Pendant Tower, the Baptistery and the Monumental Campo Santo and the Fountain of the Naked Boys.
Battistero di San Giovanni Battista is out of the picture. It is in front of the Duomo (on my left). There are also two museums outside the range of this photograph, one on the right and the other on the left of the Duomo.

What would you do with these?
You may be surprised to learn that it’s a single photograph rather than a double exposure or multiple images blended in Photoshop. So how did I pull it off?
Imagine a bus shelter with a row of mailboxes standing close behind it. The bus shelter is made of glass panels, which means that if you stand to the side of the shelter, you can look simultaneously through its side and back walls. You will then see the numbers of mailboxes behind the shelter as well as the numbers of mailboxes to the side of the shelter, reflected off the side panel.
The framing and focusing were a bit tricky. To add to the challenge, I was standing at a crossroads so I had to watch out for passing cars, and it was raining. Luckily, both me and my camera survived and I got a couple of interesting shots.
The title of the photo refers to the film A Beautiful Mind about the mathematician John Nash, played by Russell Crowe. Spoiler alert: the plot includes lots of numbers and a mailbox.😉 Oh, and the title of the photo is also a sort of spoiler.
A photography challenge to demonstrate "negative space" in an image. I love the simplicity of this shot, and the tiny splash of yellow between the white petals of this ox-eye daisy...

This image I took back in 1983 using Tri-X 400. I scanned the print as a preservation effort on my part.
Mantua is a city and comune in Lombardy, Italy, and capital of the province of the same name.
In 2016, Mantua was designated as the Italian Capital of Culture. In 2017, it was named as the European Capital of Gastronomy, included in the Eastern Lombardy District (together with the cities of Bergamo, Brescia, and Cremona).
In 2008, Mantua's centro storico (old town) and Sabbioneta were declared by UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site. Mantua's historic power and influence under the Gonzaga family has made it one of the main artistic, cultural, and especially musical hubs of Northern Italy and the country as a whole. Having one of the most splendid courts of Europe of the fifteenth, sixteenth, and early seventeenth centuries. Mantua is noted for its significant role in the history of opera; the city is also known for its architectural treasures and artifacts, elegant palaces, and the medieval and Renaissance cityscape. It is the city where the composer Monteverdi premiered his opera L'Orfeo and to where Romeo was banished in Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. It is the nearest town to the birthplace of the Roman poet Virgil, who is commemorated by a statue at the lakeside park "Piazza Virgiliana".
Mantua is surrounded on three sides by artificial lakes, created during the 12th century as the city's defence system. These lakes receive water from the Mincio River, a tributary of the Po River which descends from Lake Garda. The three lakes are called Lago Superiore, Lago di Mezzo, and Lago Inferiore ("Upper", "Middle", and "Lower" Lakes, respectively). A fourth lake, Lake Pajolo, which once served as a defensive water ring around the city, dried up at the end of the 18th century.
The area and its environs are important not only in naturalistic terms, but also anthropologically and historically; research has highlighted a number of human settlements scattered between Barche di Solferino and Bande di Cavriana, Castellaro and Isolone del Mincio. These dated, without interruption, from Neolithic times (5th–4th millennium BC) to the Bronze Age (2nd–1st millennium BC) and the Gallic phases (2nd–1st centuries BC), and ended with Roman residential settlements, which could be traced to the 3rd century AD.
In 2017, Legambiente ranked Mantua as the best Italian city for the quality of the life and environment.

Lockdown in London at the Barbican. Eerily quiet and no-one around except the odd civilian collecting their food pills.

The affects of COVID-19 on Heritage railway operations in Australia has been damning with several organisations cancelling operations or postponing tours and events until normality returns. The Steamranger Heritage Railway has been out of action since April and has since resumed the popular Cockle Train operations between Goolwa and Victor Harbor in mid June followed by the Southern Encounter service from Mt Barker during August.
The 14:45 Cockle Train service from Goolwa to Victor Harbor finds a patch of sunshine at Encounter Bay with rarely used 958 in charge of the 4 carriage service on Sunday the 16th of August 2020. The 930 class filling in for regular locomotive 621 as it undergoes minor repairs and servicing at Steamranger's Mt Barker depot, once arrived at Victor Harbor, the 930 will shunt the Southern Encounter cars onto the Cockle Train consist with the entire train returning to Mt Barker.

I rediscovered a file of about 4,000 photos I took at the August 2020 airshow at Old Warden. Seem to be one or two ok shots in there.......
This is a focus stack of 140 photos taken with my Z6ii + 105mm macro lens + 1.4x converter + 2 extension tubes. They were merged using Affinity Photo.
It was very bright sunlight so no other lights were used. The necklace is laid on glass and has black card about one inch below the glass.
The shot is about an inch and a half across. The necklace is a mixture of white-gold and gold-gold strands twisted together.

It's not known exactly who was the first to line up an anchor or anchors out among the silent dunes or when that fateful decision was made, but evidently those who followed thought it was an idea worth emulating.
